I, sir. Ved, how are you? I'm good. Thank you. How are you? I'm good. Thanks. Right. Just trying to find what the PowerPoint is. Give me one moment. Okay, wear cuts. Okay, I think I found. Okay, can you see my screen? Yeah, perfect. Okay. Alright. So today we're going to have a look at reading and writing with powerful objectives. So let's just move on from this. So your task after today would be to write a myth or a legend, focus on imagery and using powerful adjectives and descriptions. So myths and legends are full of fancy and prescriptive language. They use words carefully to put ideas in your head. And this is called imagery. Have you ever heard of imagery before? Yeah. Yeah, great. So as a starter activity, you can see this picture here. I'll circle it. Can you please create a plan for a story that you would write about a myth to do with this picture? And can you plan it out as well? Can you then can you write an introduction to the story, like what the start of the story would be? So I'm going to give you five or six minutes to do that. Descriptive writing sing sorry, the second is a scripof writing ting Yeah. Is that okay? Yeah, so shy. So make a plan for what you would do for the descriptive writing and then write the first section of it for me, and then we'll go through how you're supposed to preplan. It's just suddenly being very annoying there. It's okay to go. Wait. Okay. So how I writing it right now? Yes, please, I'm going to give you five or six minutes. Like do you know if like if a valley's c do mean like do me as like the valley's like high? Yeah, because I want to say that the body is like very high, but deep is kind. Like you can say either. It depends how you want to say it. You can say either one. Sorry, just this very weird guy just came to in our house and they're like being very annoying and it's okay. Yeah. Let me give you a few more minutes just to finish off. So you said it was like just an intro, right? Yeah, okay. Okay, I'm done. Fantastic. Can you read can you tell me what your plan for the story is? And then can you read out your introduction? I plan, I plan. Like, I forgot to do a plan. I can make it up. Like, why don't you spend a couple minutes now doing the plan? Because itbe really important. And then we can. Then I'll tell you how I usually plan, but I want to see how you do it first. I'll give you one more minute, let me tell. And you know when you're done so enough. Okay. Great. Can you walk me through your plan? My plan is like at the beginning, the snake is on rest and reproducing eggs. And fish sees eggs and wants to eat it, and so it tries to pick it up. But it was so heavy, so he started rock lifting and got stronger hour by hour. And then that is like middle good. And then four, and then, and then the snake finds out and eats the fish's eggs. In the end, the fish turns into the first human being. And then, and then the fish, and then the human being and the snake is enemies forever. Oh, great. I love the plan. I love how creative it is. And can you remit your introduction? Okay. Long before men carved their names into stern or stars, there was a valley so that you cannot see the top. They called it sky Water Valley, where blue clouds hung heavy like silk over the peaks of wait. That is not word. And don't know what I put is like baged okay, silk over the peaks of peaks of iron and then something we're growing mountains in the. Stop in the heart of the scares, as in lay a lake as smooth as Polish glass. Ss, so still it mirror heavens. Breathwest, hush. While inside the lake there laid evil fish that wasn't powerful enough to do anything, though it increased our slowly, day by day. A peaceful lake was always in peace. Picof, an extremely powerful snake. She controls all the animals near the lake. And in the lake she has sharp, long seds that dangled down, unlike snakes, a neck that could stretch out into the sky. One of her special power powers is that she could reproduce on her own whenever she likes, and the offspring will be strong, be as strong as the fish as soon as it's born. Okay, that's really, really good to me. I'm really impressed. I love how creative the beginning is. And I really like how, you know, you have different characters and you're describing what's going on and like present the long like neck and things like that. And Yeah, it's really good. I think one thing we need to work on maybe is using a little bit more adjectives. So if when you describe the water or you describe the creature, can you describe more? What does the skin look like? What color is? Is it smooth? Is it rough? Is it slimy? What does it sound like when it walks? Is the weather cold? Is the weather warm? So just more like setting at the beginning. Yeah, perfect. Okay. Can you spot the powerful adjectives in these sentences? Okay, I'm not sure what this is. Okay, this picture, can you spend some time finding some adjectives? I want you to find eight different adjectives that can describe this picture and try to make it as unique and creative as possible. And think about if you were describing this picture as a story. Okay. Okay, maybe not, but Yeah, okay, can you tell me the dangerous city russishing human beings, destructive earthquake, fragile buildings. Anymore, that's all I can think. Okay? You can also think of dusty, the dusty air, Oh Yeah, the large buildings, the scared children. Yeah. Okay, great. Well done. Okay, wait, we're there. Where wait, I didn't see it, but like I just felt like that and I just feel like people without coon. Oh, okay, now mind, I'm okay. Useful words in a myth or a legend story. So do you know what all of these words mean? Oh, wait, let me chat. I don't know what nv and let me see. Like some of them I do know the word but like as in like I don't actually like know how you like use Yeah kind of okay. Well, the keywords I think that you and might not know are this word deity and nymph like I sure wear I learned that and like all right, just like isn't that a the duty t of like gold or something? Yeah it's like a like a higher power, like God or the universe or something. Yeah and a nymph is a creature. And I'm going to see if I can find a picture of it. I don't think I can share my screen on here, but it looks kind of like almost like a fairy kind of and then I think you should be able to get all these words. But before we continue this. I'm going to tell you how your like a Green fairy Yeah so I'm going to sort of share with you how you're supposed to plan out the story. So Yeah, let me walk it through it with you so usually, and you might have seen this at school already but there's something called a story mountain. Can you see my drawing? Yeah. Oh Yeah, it's climax thing. Yeah so you have your beginning. Your build up, your climax, your resolution and your ending. So in your story that you planned, you know, you had the creature in the beginning and it lays all the eggs and then it becomes a humor and then it has all these problems and then it solves them at the end. Yeah. Are you okay? Yeah, okay. Yeah. I just Yeah and then in the beginning, at number one, in the beginning, you want to make sure that you are describing the setting, as I said. So lots of nice adjectives, lots of descriptions, the clear blue sky, the trickling water, the rolling hills, the weather, what people are feeling and thinking to really set the scene. Yeah. Yep, then number two, then you're kind of explaining the characters and you're walking through, okay, the characters are going to do this and they're going to do that, but then they reach a problem at number three, and that's the climax. They could be fighting, they could be a problem, a challenge, something that has to be overcome. Then whilst it's being overcome, it's being resolved. And at the end, you describe the ending. What's going to happen next for the characters? Are you going to leave it on a cliffhanger or are you going to tell the readers exactly what happens at the end? Or if you're going na write another story, is it gonna na be a cliffhanger to the next story? Yeah. Okay. Do you know that the creation I've got like not no, I mean, sorry, the creation of the world like genesis? Yeah, Yeah, like. I said that story is not this layout at all. That story is not it's not like this layout. It's kind of layout thing, I think. Is it a book? Genesis one? Well, Yeah, different books have different styles, right? So they might write in the first person, the third person, right? Or they might have different genres. There's so many different types of books you know that you're interested in. They could be horror books, they could be science fiction, could be romance, and those have different styles. If it's science fiction, for example, it might be more descriptive and more, you know in the beginning, something that's describing the scene of what's happening then as a problem like technology or something that needs to be solved. Whereas a romance novel might be more slow and it might be not as descriptive. Yeah. So it also depends on the type of story, but a myth or a legend story is a little bit more adventurous and mythical. So you can be creative with it, but it's really nice to do it in the structure I've told you, because in the beginning you get a really nice feel for the setting. Okay, so now I'm going to give you ten minutes. I want you to write three paragraphs of a store using as many words as you can, or even if you end up writing more in those ten minutes, like I'll give you ten to 15 minutes, can you try use as many words as you can from this picture to write a story about a myth or a legend, and try and make it quite different to the one that you planned earlier? I wanna hear something kind of different and try and use as many adjectives as possible to describe to the reader, and try and use the structure I've told you as well. Forget, if you have any questions, tell me. Was past tense rise rose. Okay, finished right. Could you read me out your story? Long ago, before there were canydoms or cities on the earth, the heavens and skies were ruled by God, demons and immortal beings. A Young heroine born from immortal and a goddess was chosen to guard the cloud bridge, a glowing path that connected the earth to the heavens. She wasn't fully human or fully divine of divine. For many years, she kept peace between the realms. But one day a powerful demon rose from the shadows and tried to take control of everything, turning even the gods against each other. To stop the destruction, the heroine climbed the cloud bridge to reach an ancient deity who could restore balance. The deity would only help if someone gave up their immortality without fear. The heroine agreed. She became part of the wind and cloud, forever guarding the space between worlds. The demon was defeated and peace returned out of it. Really, really good. I really like that. I'm glad you used all the words and you did a lot more imagery and adjectives this time. So that's really, really good. Well done. Okay. So just to make a checklist, did you include a title, Nora? Okay, try and think of a title. Like if if this story was a book, what would the book be called? It does it have a setting in the distant past? This is also really important as well, a setting in the distant past. It's basically to show like, Oh, maybe it was during historical times or during an ancient time. Usually there's a hero or a heroine, mortal and immortal characters, an explanation, a beginning. Yes. I saying distance, distant past. Yeah, I'll build up to you. What does that say again to give hints? Sorry, I think it's yes. Inant clues about what is going to happen? Maybe, maybe no, I'm not sure. And then wait, what is a diomma again? Sorry, a dilemma is a problem. A problem that happens during the story. So when you're in the climax. And then a resolution. Yeah. A hero. Yeah. Mortal. Yeah. Wait. More mortal? Yes. Immortal? Yes. Wait. It is mortal. The one that's like normal human beings. No, a mortal means that you don't you can't die till you live forever. Not, no, not immortal. Mortal. Yet mortal means that you don't die. I've included mortal, but not immoral. Yeah, immortal means that you will die. And then heavens yes, no underground and exhalation for how something started. So it's kind of how long ago two tribes fought violently and that created a divide between two villagers or something, or like a deity created this beautiful land or something like that to set the scene. That's also usually like, have you ever watched a lord of the rings? No, I've heard it. Yeah. So if you watch that, that's very good. Like example of a myth or a legend. And then a long story with many different parts to the plot. Yeah, I'm not sure. I mean, obviously didn't have time to write a really long story, but I think it was good. Okay, let's move on to a different task then. Moment. Right, can you read out this poem for me? That tiger tiger burning right in the forest of the night what immortal hand or eye could frame thy fearful symmetry in that? In what distant deep eps or skies burnt the fire of thine eyes on the wings? There he as pair as what the hand there sees a fire and what shoulder war e art could twist the sinew of thy heart and when thy heart began to beat, what dread hand, what dread feet. Okay, so this poem is written by a really famous poet called William Blake. And he is writing, he's trying to describe a tiger in a lot of detail. So could you spend a few minutes, because we only have ten minutes left now, could you spend a few minutes just read to yourself and do it independently and then we'll talk about it together. Can you try and work out what's going in the poem even if you don't understand everything, I want you to just try your best, try and figure out what's going on. What is the author telling you? Yeah, basic, but I'm going to give you a few minutes yourself to write down a few things. Okay. Can you if you can write it down thatbe, good. So we can talk about it. Okay, I'm done. Okay. Okay. What do you think about the poem? So it starts by, like, talking about how the tiger has, like, glowing off in the dark, and writers like, amazed and wonders who could have made a scary and boospot at the same time. Then he thinks that the tihe thinks about where the tigers and the g came from. And then he ssomewhere, like far away in the sky or deep the ground. And then he asks, who was, like, brave enough to grab the fire. Next he wonders, like what kind of strong and skilled person could have made the tiger's muscles and heart? Yeah, I think, Yeah, that's really good. Yeah, that's good. And what do you think the writer is trying to like, describe or suggest about the tiger? Because it describes the tiger in a lot detail. It's very like powerful at the same time as like being very beautiful and scary and also like he's quite shocked and he's overwhelmed as well. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, great. Okay. So for your homework, if you get a chance tonight, could you write me your own poem about a different animal? Yeah, wait, I'm just picsomewhere. That is called me. I was just like, I'm having a lesson. Okay, so for your homework, can you please write a poem about a different animal for me? Okay, yes, Yeah to me. Yeah, it's okay. So tonight if you could do that, all right, can you send it in the chat? Because sometimes I forget what the what the poem is. Okay. Yes, sure. Not poem. Oh, whatever that is. Yeah, I'll send it in the chat of course. Okay. Okay, thank you, Serena. I'll see you tomorrow. Oh, thank you. Bye. Thank you. Bye bye bye.
