Hi, chis. Hi. I just saw you in years, swithough. I just see if you never rolled up. How are you today, Clara? Good. Yeah. What have you been up to? Having long of work? Too much homework year. What kind of homework have you got today? Math, English and science? Oh my goodness. Also reading homeisn't. Do you find, Kobe, that you do have that you feel like you've got enough time to do the homework? You always feel like there's just so much going on. Like every week we are having. We are having new homework on every Thursday but every Thursday I have two classes my English class at so have an English and a debating so I don't actually have really much time to do this. Oh no. Yes, it gets you. Does it all have to be done today or can you can you do it over the weekend? No I can do it over the weekend because this homework is due on Tuesday, right? Okay, that's a lot of homework though, isn't it? And then you've got all your classes as well. Oh, Hey, you. Oh, what a. Pleasure to see you, Neil, pop up in one of my lessons. How have you been keeping Neil? Sometime I just on the last just before the class little media I see well clearly ary I Neil was on the summer debating course with me in the summer that's how I know Neil and he did like an intensive summer course, didn't you? I'm so pleased to see you, Neil. There's really lovely to catch up with you. What have you been up to, Neil? Anything exciting? Have you been on holiday since I last saw you? I think at the next day of the school and the last day of the school, we have made movie on a party, but I'm not sure about this. Oh, I'm moving in a party well, near il. Welcome. Welcome to our class. It's so lovely to see you. Hi there. Hi. Hi. Yeah. How are you today? Yeah, good. Not good. Oh, Chloe has been telling her she's got lots of homework as well. Too much homework. So you've got a composition to do for piano. My brother's your brother's play the so we we have Neil in class with us today and Neil did our summer debating courses so he's well trained in how to do debates. So Hebe joining us as well today. We're also waiting for Mason I believe and I also believe Renee is joining us as well. We're going to start guys and they can join in. So today's focus is on the third speaker. So we're going to be thinking about the third speakers 's role, because they have a different role to everyone else. So the thing we've got to remember is that they must not introduce any new material or arguments. Okay? So your third speaker shouldn't come up with new ideas. Their role is to listen to every other debate and be making notes as they go along. They must also know better than anyone what the first speaker and the second speaker in their team was going to talk about because there it is unfair to the other side because they don't have an opportunity to rebut. So if the you think the last negative speaker, no one can rebuttle them, so that's not fair. So the third speaker should just talk about points that their team have already talked about. Okay, it's very important. So rebut, attack the other team's points and defend your team's case. You're allowed to rebuttle. You are allowed to make clear the case that your team have put forward, but do not make any new suggestions. No new arguments reinforce your team's case. Okay, ladies and gentlemen, today I will summariise the debate and explain why my team should win. First I will rebut the other team's arguments. Then I will reforce my team's points and explain why they will stand at the end of the debate. I'm not making a new argument. Okay? So Zoe, with that in mind, what skill does the third speaker have to have? No, they need to know how to read but each other and listen to others so they that they know what their own team just said so they could use their own points to what other people perfect exactly what is that was a perfect answer. Yeah, very, very well done, kry. What other skills do you think they might need to have. I think they needed a listening listening skills and not the third speaker isn't for everyone. Not everyone loves third speaker and that's okay. Yeah. Hi Mason ge. They needed to have they needed to know how to Sumah yes, I supposed we could summarize Yeah they've got to put it into a summary, haven't they? That's a really good one. Yeah, very, very well, Neil, what else do you think this third speaker might need to think about? And I think that, I mean, I kind of think new things, Baly, because I think it's that all but I mean, human girls listening to girls accidentally have new idea in the debate. And he need to know how to support others using some, in my opinion, something like that. I know how to make a summary for others. Ry animake, sure you know what that topic is to support everyone. Well done. Yeah. Yay. How are you, mace? So I am outside. I just finished playing tenis. I am going back to my home. I like I maybe have to change the computer because I'm now using my mom's phone. And I cause, like, Yeah, that's fine, Mason. That's no problem. You change what you need to change a lii've just finished tennis. I've just popped into my debate. We're glad to see you maand mawe're talking about this third speaker. So we're talking about defending our team, making new point and making the same point and not making a new point as the third speaker. So that's what we're talking about today. Okay, as we've started, we've got a little video which might give Mason some time to get into his house, but here's some video. This this is wrong. Okay, so this is our third speaker up to here we go. Education. That's not communication. Good afternoon, chairperson, adjudicator and fellow debaters. The topic for our debate is that children spend too much time in front of screens. We, the affirmative team, firmly believe that this statement is obviously first and second speaker, you attempted to convince the audience that in the future, children will have a need for screens, but that is incorrect, because we are saying that children do spend too much time in front of screens, not that they will in the future. First, speaker of the negative team, you tried to persuade the audience that you only get the opportunity to use a laptop once each week, but that is not the case for everybody. I know that our school uses screens every day of the week. The second speaker from the negative team tried to tell you that not all kids will use devices to help with homework. This is wrong because we said that most kids use technology, not all. Second speaker, you said the children could use social media to communicate, but while that is a form of communication isn't really the best way to go, I wouldn't exactly say that conversations on social media are sophisticated. Our first speaker has already explained that screens are a significant portion in today's education. In the majority of classrooms today, an enormous variety of technology is used, such as laptops, smart tboards, iPads, conferencing, televisions, and the list goes on. That is almost six hours in front of screens. Do you think that is good for children? Our first speaker has also explained that many children are antisocial because of screens. Children are cooped up inside with an iphone texting saying, lol, that is toaadowrel. How well do you think this child is going to fare when they apply for a job? Our second speaker has stated that children use screens for homework and study. The majority of children in today's world are not exactly the type to go to the library and sort through a pilot books. No, they would rather sit in the bed with laptop and copy and paste information from Wikipedia. As well as that, our second speaker has stated, even when children go outside, they use screens to call their friends or play games, especially Pokemon go. The majority of children, and lots of adults too, need to catch Pokemon and conquer Pokemon gyms. So, chairperson, adjudicator and fellow demaners, in conclusion, we, the affirmative team, strongly believe that children spend too much time in front of screens, screens and education. That's not communication. Hey, so Chloe, what did you think was quite good about this third speaker? She like said all the the the speech es all the ideas and what they said on the team, like on the negative team and the affirmative team, like the first speaker and the second speaker and the other teams, the first speaker and the negative speakers, ideas and thinking. And then she said all of them with her opinion and then she just actually just actually just summarized all the debate. Oh ey, you have by darling groan confidence. Yeah, I'd have asked you that 18, eight, five, 15 weeks ago. You wouldn't have given me such a fantastic answer. That was brilliant. Gey, Yeah, you knew exactly what shedone you gave me step by step in that. That was amazing. Boland, Chloe, thank you very much for expressing that. Yeah. Neil, do you think she won. Yeah and so speaker, I think it's good and he has made detail to support others because it said, speak Wang, who is one side of the debate. And he said what his opinion was. And like he said, spanis good about Oh bad, I forgot it. But and he only did on it and kry said the topic of it, an opinion. Then the speaker too was the same. The and conclusion of it is just again, say that two speakers, what they say, what they do and. I think Yeah, well knew exactly. Yeah, we had everything mapped out. She was really clear in it. Sorry, ry, what kind of techniques did she also use in her debate? Use opiniand on other, saying that something, that other side, and that she strongly disagree or strongly agreed about something, and then use her own opinions to others. She did indeed very well dyit quite with humor. She did it with rhetorical questions. She did it with phrases, didn't she? Things that would stay in our mind. So we all think it was a good one, right? And she probably did win because it was a very good closing argument. So think of yourself as as a teacher. Yeah when you're doing explain your case with the judges as your students, Yeah that's what you've got to think about. They are my students and I'm gonna to teach them something. All right, persuade them. Yeah we want them to think this is a good argument. Yeah and not everyone is good to be a third speaker. Not everyone likes this role. It's a very difficult role, actually. They all are difficult in their own way. But you will have a role. You prefer. Some people prefer spurfirst speaker, second speaker or third speaker. You have to be a good listener. As a third speaker, you have to think quickly because other teams will say something and you've got to be writing, okay? And you've got to be clear, under time, you are under pressure. You are the last person to speak, nothing worse than you running out of time. So bear in mind, third speaker can be a very big role. Help your teammates write a summary, brainstorm rebuttalles in your preparation, note taking, identifying points and thinking about the whole idea of the speech and how you're going to rebuttle on the other side. We don't have enough people in class. You probably won't do the third speaker today, but you can put elements of it into your speeches today. Yeah. And today's debate, professional athletes are overpaid, right? Okay, who's going to start us off today? Neil, what do you think professional athletes are overpaid? Athare paid know what does so professional athletes could be runners, could be footballers, could be swimmers, cricket players, football players, rugby players. They could be runners, they could be hurdles, they could be marathon runners. Do you think they're overpaid? You they're pay too much to be an athlete? Yeah, probably. But I like, especially on football or soccer. I mean, some some players just will get a million lions of dollar on it. If he have a good grade on every race. So I think it's overpaid for just $1 million for a few better with other teams. And of course, if some, if some teams need another player, they need to spend millions dollars. I need to buy a bag. So just a huge amount of money on ten spoi. Think if I've paid, okay, so a huge amount of money on the sports people themselves because think about staff. Our staff paid as much. No, so actually we paying our athletes, some athletes are paid a million, some people are paid 100000, some are paid 250000. Like some get bonuses for winning, some get bonuses for losing. So really think about this. Are they overpaid? Are they got too much than doctors and nurses? And Chloe, hi Mason, your back. Chloe. What do you think? I think your mind not made up. And why are you not mind not made up for me? Because actually I don't really know about like many sports. Like the things that I am playing, I play Nepple and also golf. So golf players are actually overpaid because they are actually having a lot of money while they're like having competitions. And then in a year, there are many competitions they can win. And then it's all over the world. You you if you have time, you would try and earn money with that. But in Nepal, neple is doesn't really actually have many people playing it and then not many people would give money to their players because they don't actually know about the sport. So they actually don't would be they wouldn't be overpaid that much and then they might actually wouldn't be overpaid. This is a good point, Chloe. Yeah it depends on the sport you are playing. You are right. I've got a friend who is the captain of a national footnetball. We're actually international netball team and you're right, the fans don't watch it. So they get paid a lot less than football players. Football players will learn 100000a week. Netball players 200, 300 pounds. They might win on a game. So is there is differences in whatever sport you play? That is a very good point to make. Mason. What do you think? Do you think athletes are overpaid? And this includes Olympic athletes, for example, who might have to train to be the best in the world. Oh, God, we can't hear you, mace. I think it's on a different mic. You can choose different microthere. We go right, gone miss. What do you think? Yeah. So that I think I also agree that professional athletes are overplay because I with like in tennis in tennis, which I like play like tennis like has rounds like first like there are 32 people competing like there are like 16 pairs and then like eight pairs like after and like after these people like will be like getting the top like the top two like is the final, is the final competition. I like determine who was me. I like the money will be more and more so like if you, it's like if you give more money to some people, maybe the island will feel like proud. I like egbetter like after the more runs and like maybe get like top one, you will also like be happy. You will think it is worth it. So you think actually the you shouldn't get paid until you're winning, until you're in the top athlete encouraging you to to win. Yeah, that is a good point, isn't it? Should we be giving any kind of athlete you know some some money? I think that's a good point. Mason. It's a very good point to make. Zoe, what do you think I'm from the I'm not so sure that. Like some kind of sports are like really have to overpaid, but some are not so common. So they don't get paid so much and they won't get overpaid. So it really does depend on the sport for you guys. If the sport is something like netball or hokey, ice hockey is probably one of them. I love ice hockey, but ice hockey in our country is not very big. So those players aren't played as much as football, which is huge in England. Yeah. So I can see that. I wanna think that this is a, these are really good ideas, Neil. If I'm going to compete in the Olympics, okay, I'm going to compete for my country in the Olympics, shouldn't I get a lot of money? Because I'm gonna to be away training. I'm gonna to leave my family. I might have to go to a different country. I will constantly have to watch why I eat. I've got to become the best. Shouldn't I be paid for that if I want to be the best athlete in the world? I mean, you can you could pay some just like at least a few thousand ds. If you win the competibinif you lose, you get nothing. Well, I mean, the taxi or the airplane thinyou you get and you you make the money of it because I think no one will give you a plane plane ticket just by free. Do you think they get a lot of freaks? So actually we're saying they get lots of things paid for them. Oh Yeah, I mean, on the travel to the lacompetition, like the gentleman with staying, I think the his aboss will stay there to wash in his wing, lose because his about his traveling paid. Plus already know he already gave him a few thousands before just by winning some game. So most women play what traveled us. This is really interesting. Yeah. So we're possibly already getting paid, but that I'm going to leave you in putting you into groups and you guys can continue a little bit more because I want you to have some full preparation time today. Think about athletes have to give up a lot. They have to be at the height of their career. They have to watch what they eat. They have to train every day. They will be in the newspaper. They might have to do some, you know, some hard work. They are famous, which means they can't do anything wrong. So should they be paid correctly for that? Do you become the best player because you're paid well, because you don't have to think about money. Your family are looked after. You are constantly away from them. But do you think some athletes good? Are some athletes bad? And are they even worth? Like Mason says, should we not be paying them until they win a game or they win a race? Like shouldn't that be the motivation if you want to be the best athlete in the world? Not all athletes are good. Just because they're in the Olympics doesn't mean they're a good athlete. Might be the only athlete that country has also brands, products, companies they give things athletes free things, free travel, free hotels, free clothing. Do they not have enough already? Yeah so think about those ideas of it. Right. Neil as Neils a guest in our classroom today at Neil which side are you going to debate today? Agree or disagree with this motion? Agree I know say that's 200 fine. Okay, you're gonna to agree with the motion. Okay, brilliant. Right. And then so we usually never gets to choose and it makes it, Zoe, what what side would you like to be or would you like to pair up with Neil? Or would you like to be on the disagree? I don't know. Okay, we'll put you as a maybe Chloe, have you got a preference? Agree, disagree, no preference. Also, Zoe and Chloe could go either side today. Okay. Mason, where would you go? I'll agree. Whowell masonmade your decision for you cllara zoright, so it's gonna be boys versus girls today. So chary, Chloe and Zoe, you'll be saying, I disagree with this motion. You are gonna stay in this classroom here. And Maston and Neil, you're gonna say that you agree they are paid too much. You will have ten minutes to prepare your speeches. Bear in mind we don't have a third speaker role today, but do bear in mind some of the things that you saw with that third speaker. Think about maybe summarizing your points. You will have three minutes, okay, for each side of your arguments, right? Let's do it, shall we? Let's pick minty breakout rooms. Well, we're going to keep Chloe and Zoe in here and then Neil of Mason and also Renee, but she's not here, but we're going to put Renee in there. Okay, bright ladies. We've got to think about some stuff, right? I'm just gonna to put our ten minutes on here. I'm gonna put ten minutes on for the boys. Maybe start having an end discussion. Okay, Mason, meet Neil. Neil, meet Mason. Mason. Neil did the short course debating class with me in the summer. So Neil sort of notihow this works. He also knows how how this class works. So you guys want to chat, don't you want to think about what arguments you're going to talk about? Who's going to talk about what? What examples he going to give? I think you've got some good ideas, both of you. Okay, right. Oh, I've made fireworks, guys. I've made fireworks. Am I open for you back in the house? I mean, I can also make some confetti. Yes, we go. There we go. I can also make some confetti happen. All right, Neil and Mason, have a chat. I'll be back in. Okay, right. Coming. Me, Zoe, what have you got to be researching? That's a great idea though, right? What have you got so far? What's your thoughts? Come on. We can't let the boys win. Oh Yeah say it again boys always win. No we're gonna win today. Yeah I think most professional athletes are overpaid we the four is more because lots and lots of kind of sports are all like they are actually very much people play that and it's they when they got lots of money like football basketball a tennis baseball not tea ball but not tea and then diving and then much and much I think the fantastic Yeah you know what I think it is. I actually think you two have a very good case here of winning if you talk about this idea. But not all sports are being overpaid. So not all athletes Yeah say like something about the netball thingy because I play neball. I don't even know what slego and chlare tell her what netball is. Npple love, people don't actually know about npple. Should we put a picture up for a clone? Should we put a little picture up? Well, uphelp, I think thathelp one there. So if we show you Chloe, well, neti play netball. I love a bit of netball. Netball is the kind of ball that the the basket does it have A A Renee here Renee here Renee can join your team because with now done boys versus girls hello ree with no board after the basket so this here we are you've got it's a bit like basketball Zoe it's a bit like basketball but it's for women you do have the the board after the basket but it cannot bounce and then you you just can just PaaS the ball and then you can't go in the semicircle if you're not if your biv doesn't have A G on it because you're not like actually near with the goal. Yeah it's a really good game. You it's unlike basketball you can you can dribble the ball and you can't do that in you have to PaaS it to everybody and you're allowed to make your goal. It would like it would be a but a basketball is very. And then the has more rules than best capable I'm hi Renee welcome we just telling so we've ended up in boys best skills this so sorry sorry doe I'll come back to you in a second. Renee we're going to pop you on this team. So you're disagreeing that professional athletes are overpaid. And one of Chloe's points is that actually some athletes are paid a lot, but other sports are not paid as much. Yeah so that's what you guys are discussing at the moment, Renee. So just I know you're sort of just coming straight in, but just jump in where you can. Okay. Right. So if I have a Oh, don't worry, Renee, you've picked up right at the right time. You've got more than enough time to prepare with the girls and we're not going to tell the boys and we'll keep it a secret. Well, keep it a secret they went now you're here and then we surprised when they come in okay so clover you're going to talk about that right so I'm going leave you alone for a few minutes have a discussion what else could you talk about what else which speaker is going to be which Yeah okay I'm gonna to go check on the boys okay how are we doing we just ended before you came in a you come up with everything happy last screen so we gonna make him like that like the last two let's like we can like see like our opinions again I like look at that Oh yes I'll bring that up for you absolutely all the best thing in the room have thought about what the other team are going to do because you've got to think about these rebuttals what do you think this other team I think you might want to discuss that because remember they they will have some very good points so what are you going to be thinking about Yeah or makes sense like. Go back so you think about what things they learn and talk about. Maybe you like I am the first because like new, maybe a rebuttal and like think of like a professional Essof like to think of the disagree and like try to like traverse and like to agree. So like you could do that. Yeah, that's a good idea. Isn't if Neil 's second speaker, he should definitely rebutmore because you're gonna to be opening the debate, miso, it's really important for your team to make it clear where your position is, right? Because you're opening the debate, you are challenging the other team. It's their job to try and prove you wrong. So I think Neil, to think about what they might say, how are they gonna to challenge you and what things are you going to say to that? Think about examples as well. All right, right, but back, how are we doing? Were we speaking a different language? Are we speaking in a different background? I've caught you all. And why are you confused? What are you confused about? Should I give you some ideas? Right? Okay. So who's going to be the first speaker? Right? Chloe is going to be the first speaker. Lovely, great. Chloe is going to make the address sser. Who's going to be the second speaker? Me, right. Zoe, the second speaker. So reend is because you miss sed, the first part of our class. So what it is, is the third speaker should not make a new point. What you should do, rea, is remind everyone of what Chloe and Zoe have said. And then we want you to make a closing statement. So you need to make a closing argument, okay? And rebutthe other team. So you get to be like, my first speaker said this, the first, the second speaker said that. I don't agree because so Renner, your job is to reiterate, to repeat what your whole team have said and to rebutyeah, you need to rebutthe other team. Okay? So the Rena, that's your job as the third speaker. I want to check the motion is professional athletes are overpaid or overpaid? Yeah. So I want have other tips to help you guys. Yeah, athletes do have to give up a lot. They have to give up a lot of their bodies to do this. Yeah you can't just turn up to the Olympic. Well, they actually don't overpaid by just having less less healthiness for their body and then just play the sport and want it to be famous. Yeah, exactly. They're not overpaid. They don't have lots of time with their family. They have to travel the world. They have to be away for months at a time. Other things, a lot of things in their life. Exactly. Also, think about this thing theysay too. Athletes are overpaid. And this is the reasons why men's football is paid 100000 pounds a week. But do you know women's football is only paid 36000 pounds a week? So only some professionals are overpaid. Some professionals are not yena good cards. Okay. Now we've understood the speakers. It sounds like you all know what you're talking about now. So it was just that speaker situation. Amazing. Well, we've got 20s. But 20s, guys. But 20s. Okay. Oh, we're chilling. I feel like we're ready in this group. Are we ready? Yes. Amazing. Well put. 20s for the girls. And then I'm going to bring you all back together and we're going to start our debate. Oh, Oh, you ready? They're going to be so surprised when they come back in here. We're going say, we're just going to say nothing. See if they notice. Renee, first of all, right. We're just going to say absolutely nothing. I tried Mason could like actually Mason will know. Okay, wonderful. We're all Buin the room. I think racis clicked. Renee has arrived Mason. So when they popped in into the glass roof, right to make it fair to make it fair I am also going to go over to the boys team and I will be their third speaker because it doesn't need any prep for that okay so I will be Neila Mason's third speaker to make it nice and fair. All right let's get our debate underway guys we are gonna have we've got speaker Mason over on the agree team we've got speaker Neil popped in popped out lovely right speaker Neil on the agree team we've now speak Lisa honorary honorary boy today to I'm gonna be I'm gonna be Clive this is Clive over here. Yeah hello I'm Clive now speak Clive alright let's make you a little bit smaller if I can see can keep all your notes then we have speaker Chloe over on the disagree team we have speaker Zoe I'll putting new in order. And then we've got speaker Renee who's popped in at the last hour to defend their ladies. Right here we go. Right here we go. And then we've got great. So I will be speaker Clive when I am speaker Clive. Okay, so I'll be speaker Clive, but I'm also going to currently be the chalist. I'm speaker Clive when I'm over there and I' M Chair chair Lisa when I'm in the middle. Okay, welcome to today's debate. Today we are debating the topic professional athletes are overpaid. On the affirmative side, we have speaker Mason, speaker Neil, and speaker Clive. And on the the disagree team, we have speaker Chloe, speaker Zoe, and speaker ree. You each will have three minutes to make your case. You will be stopped after three minutes. I remind you to be kind, to be courteous and to listen to each other. Speaker Mason, your time starts now. So hello, my name is Mason, and today I will agree, ed, a favorite team that professional athletes are overpaid. I have three reasons. Support. First, let's think of a scenario. You are you are sitting on a bench watching a competition between two soccer teams. Now, now the the team ask, you like to pay to pay for them. Would you pay if it was me? I won't I won't pay now, but like I won't pay after like after the soccer game. Like, you know, like you know that like they have like use all their stress like to beat the other team. I like they have beaten the other team. I like you, you know who wins? I like, you can over pay them. I like because like they professional athletes and they have been training for a lot of time and like it is really worth like to pay for a winning team. My second reason is that like if professional athletes are overpay, like for your like favorite Athens or something, like maybe the next time a compete, the professional athlete is motivated and like will sort of do better and like next competition and maybe we'll win again. Like this is really worth for some reason. And the last reason some of the like players are overpaid and like it's a like huge amount of money like birlike to train and like they have to find a coach or like something like to teach him and like after a lot of years, sort of like ten years, like it can be trained like you play professionally. So some that I think that professional assets should be overplayed. Thank you. Okay. Right. Thank you very much. Speaker. Amazing. Okay. Speaker colloe, your time starts now. Do you think that all the sports people are being overpaid? Actually it doesn't shows that every sports player is being overplayed because such as some sport like netball table, or actually some like kickball even and many sports have less people playing it, so less people would enjoy and look at it. So actually many people would have actually different opinions about different sports, but a lot of people would want to look at rebel or like some people call it soccer, but not actually the sports that some people, but not all the people like, such as neple neple actually have plays, play them. But not many people would wanted to get money as if this is not a sport that everyone likes and everyone actually wanted to know the sport. And then so over like that people would actually not be over paid for actually for those sport. But actually, don't you have like don't you see that athletes or have been lost a lot of their actually of your, their whole life? Don't you see that they always like actually just training, training and training? They just train all the time, just a little bit time with their family. So I think they are be overpaid, just such as they lost everything of their happiness. Thank you. Thank you very much. Speaker halloe, a very nice address and rebuttal. Speaker Neil, your time starts now. The end of this because my opinion, I strongly believe that the sport was was all of paid. First, let me have example the most in this one, the soccer and in famous msee, for example, he he was famous. He every week he got much of money like probably a thousand of it at least. I mean, so it's most overpaid for mat there. And let's see the challenge said the network was not overpaid. Well my I mean when on race he trained me large race and you when you get some but I see some sport that is not famous but she also spend a lot of time and a lot time and things on the sport. So I think many about just giving some money to to have know that he used any time and on train ined on the board I have a very exhaust coming home just for thanks. I mean, so so I think. Well, I think that end. Is that all, Neil? Yeah, because I was stomattwe only have the one minute and a half, so I just that absolutely brilliant. I just wanted to check he had finished and I hadn't cut you off. And well done, nail. Excellent explanations. Okay, speak of the way your time starts now. Hello, today, I think I ongly disagree with the motion that professional athletes are overpaid at three points. To say it that firstly, they earn what they paid. So if millions of people buy tickets and wash on wash the races on tv, the athlets bring that money to the team. They they all get a fair share and an. Most athlets can only play for ten to 15 years. They need to earn money enough for their whole life when they start. And secondly, they use most of the time to train and follow diets and they mostly stay away from their families. And if you're are good at something very well, you get paid a lot and you have to give out a lot to from to the coach if you want to be a professional outlet. Thirdly, you you might use a lot of time if you train. No money can buy time. You have to use it widely and carefully. You. You have, you can, you need to also see your health. You might risk health. Healthy is more important than anything. The outlets often get serious injuries like broken bones or brain problems that can hurt them forever. So in conclusion, I think that professional, I think that professional outflets aren't overpaid. You didn't Ozoe perfect. Thank you very much, Zoe. A very nice address. Some very different points. Oh gosh, it's now me. I'm not gonna to do three minutes, so I speak fast. New speaker Clive. I need I need an outfit. I feel like I need something to show that I'm speaker Clive. Now maybe I'll have to be this duck. Speaker Clive has arrived, right? Speaker climbers here. Right here we go. I'm going to give myself two minutes. Okay, okay, thank you very much, Madam Chair. We as a team would like to address that overpaid athletes are not always winning. As something that speaker Mason has stated already in this debate, we surely could motivate more athletes in their profession if winning gave them their bonuses. Therefore, we wouldn't have weak players, bad teams, or athletes that quite frankly weren't ready to perform in any field. Also, we don't pay the coaches as much as the professionals. As speaker Mason pointed out that actually there are more to a team than just a player. Also want to reiterate some of speaker Neils points in that people like Messi are famous and therefore they get money from other brand deals and also being well known and therefore do they really need the payout from other athletes and from their teams and could they not live off the marketing money and tv exposure that they get? Speaker Chloe art, the first speaker on the negative team, stated about the fact that some sports were not paid the same as some sports were not overpaid. However, an average uk salary is 25000a year. Athletes are at least paid 5000a week, if not up to 100, zero pounds a week. That to me is just not fair. Doctors, nurses, teachers, surely they should get paid exactly the same. Speaker Zoe talked about again, this tv and then being famous. And once again, I bring back to our team's point that if they are able to make money by being famous, surely they don't need the money of the sports teams. In conclusion, we think that professional athletes are overpaid and at times are given far too much hype for the skill that they actually have. Thank you for listening. Okay, I'll going Charson. Okay, Renee, speaker Renee, your time starts now. I think that I strongly believe that professional athletes are not overpaid, just like speaker Chloe and the same team has stated, some athletes are not overpaid. And in dresses speaker Clives opinion that. Others that people who do other things, like people who are doctors and teachers are not paid just as enough of as professional athletes. But I believe, but there can be, but there are. But there can be things that people don't think that those people can't be paid just as enough because. Professional athletes need to compete, and sometimes, even with other countries, that means that if they're good enough, they in, they might be even competo compete in the Olympics. Then they can show how healthy or good their country is, and not give other countries an opinion to, to think that they are weak. Also like speaker is stated, there aren't enough time that there aren't enough time professional athletes spend with family. And then there's money cannot buy happiness and friendship. So this, so no matter how much the money is, we cannot buy happiness, friendship, happiness and friendship so that it is not overpaid yed. And also as for her Chory, Zoe has stated that professional athletes had trained very much, so they need their money for their to their old age security. So in conclusion, I strongly believe that professional athletes are not overpaid. Thank you very much, speaker riay. We now open the floor to any questions or rebuttalles. I just think when you were just too quiet, I can't even hear I just my camera this I here, I think the the problem is they think yours is quite loud and Reise is quite quiet. So they're probably cancelling each other out. She just reiterated what Chloe and zobie said, and then she talked about the fact that actually they deserve everything that they get, that they deserve all this money. Any rebuttals, any questions to the other team? Well, well, well, I've done the hokay. I have a question here from speaker Clive. Speaker Clive would like to answer a question. My question is to speaker Chloe. Speaker Chloe, you talked a lot about how some sports are not as paid as some other sports, but do not think they are paid more than normal jobs. And do you think that is fair? They are actually just they are working for their own country and then they are competing other country and then they are just helping their country to be stronger and to be more famous. So I think it is actually also very important to give actually chances and let it let countries to be more stronger. Thank you very much. Speaker cllare. Any other questions from the teams before we make our decision? Okay, thank you very much. That now ends our debate for professional athletes or either paid. Okay, we are going to take a vote to the floor. You do not have to vote for your team. You might have been convinced by the other team. So votes on the agree team. Votes for the agree team please those that are voting for the agrees arguments, the professional athletes are overpaid. Who is voting for the agreeteam Neil? Oh, Mason might have been convinced. Mason realiit. I thought Mason was going, go get this team. I thought youdone so well, okay, voting for the negative team. We've got Chloe, we've got Zoe and we've got Renee. So at the moment I am the deciding vote. Okay. Well, speaker Clive, well, speaker Clive is saying he's for the affirmative team. We're not going again to speaker Clive, but the chair, the chair is awarding today's debate too, the negative team. Well done, Chloe, Zoe and Renee. Excellent job. And the reasons why you guys, what you were able to do was to break down those arguments. They felt like they were linked. Yeah they felt like each of you were taken a part of this argument. And Renee, I think you were stronger than my third ds, but I'm not a very good third speaker. I'm a third speaker. I always have been. Yeah and I think you were a very good third speaker. And I think you've fitted that role beautifully. Renee. So very, very well done to you, considering you just have to get on with it. You you were chucked in and you just was all like, off we go. I think you did an amazing job with that. Neil and Mason know, and you thought as their first no, ree, I think you're actually very good as a third speaker. I think you could do me or actually might find a little talent for yourself there. Third speaker is not for everyone. It's not for me. Third speaker, isn't it my I prefer first speaker or second, but I don't like that. Yeah Neil and Mason, you would really well, as a team, you talked to each other, you were bouncing ideas off each other, you came up with examples. It was really nice to hear you guys discussing this topic. So please don't think that just because you didn't win the debates today that there wasn't amazing things in there. I think speaker Clive let you down. I think we should probably sack speaker Clive. Well, a bit of saglas saack speaker cliwell done all I should do. You know why I should have done this? I shouldn't have used clib lives disappeared. I would say speaker Clive is awful. And we perhaps should have gone with speaker Ronny. Speaker Ronnie might be there. I speak on me next time. Welden guys, very, very, very, very impressive work as always. You always put 100% into it. And Neil now looks like he's he's et right now, Neil, with that over here, overhead long prep, do research. Please do research. Gaming esporshould be considered a sport. So for you gamers out there, do you think that gaathat very single line can again, maybe, maybe, well, then all have an absolutely wonderful weekend. I'm off to celebrate my birthday. I'm going to go in a bye. Guys. Have wonderful weekend. Bye. Oh my goodness.
