What are you kind of looking for from me? And like what can I do to best support you? I. Hello hi. Yeah I can see you but I can see you when I left but I like I didn't leave as like I couldn't see myself but like Oh okay, that's very strange. Alright, let's try start off and then when we start I'll try to sort all the technical problems because this is the first time I've used this platform. So Yeah but Yeah, your name is Serena. Yeah and how old are you? Eleven. Okay. That's great. And are you looking to improve your English? Yeah, okay, great. I can help you with that. So where do you live at the moment and how much English do you speak every day? I live in London, but me too. I'm not sure how much English I speak. I am like, I'm not like. Like I don't open a class, but I am like mid average kind of okay, that's good. Okay, lovely. Okay. I live in London too, so that's great. The weather is not very good today. All no. So okay, great. Let's start our first lesson then, English reading and writing non fiction. So the first one is coach trip. So our learning objective is to learn about your fellow passengers to use non Fiction Research and writing skills to create a reading comprehension. You're gonna to share information about yourself and use research skills recogniand read different types of English. Sometimes it can be more formal. So to truths and a lie without showing any. I mean, obviously we're not in a classroom, so it's obviously fine, but could you write down, have you ever played this game before? Good. Hate the game. Okay. Why don't we do it really quickly then as a starter? Yeah, right. I'll give you a couple minutes to do that. I like try write it down. Yeah write down two fooths and alive. Yeah in the chat you can do it in a notebook. Do you have a notebook with you or something that like you can write down? So I'm on one notes right now. Okay? Yeah so just write it down on there. Okay. In the meantime, I'm going to try and join from my iPod so I can turn my camera on. Let me know when you're finished. Okay, I'm finished. All right. Okay, could you tell me them and I'll try and guess which one is a lie? Okay, I have four brothers. I am born in the U. I studied in us for elementary school. You studied what I study? Died in the United States for elementary school. Hmm, is that the lie? Which one? The last one that you studied in the United States for elementary school? Yeah. So Oh, okay, I just got lucky. Okay, great. Perfect. Okay, well done. It's good starter. Right? So this is a fictional journey. We're going to find out more about our passengers. So some statements are going to be displayed. Now can you show your opinion on each statement? For example, the kind of places you prefer to visit are okay. I don't think we can do because we're not in a physical clusters. We might have to skip over this one, one moment. Okay, so we're going to move on to the concept of traveling to help us. So we're going to concentrate on places you would like to visit. Could you spend a couple minutes writing down and thinking about places you have visited in the past? This might be close or far away. What were your favorite places and why? I kind of want na see how you structure your writing, which is really helpful for English. So could you spend about five or so minutes writing down a paragraph about where you've traveled before and where you want to travel? Oh, Yeah. Serena, I'm just going to rejoin from my iPad, okay? So I can turn my camera on, okay? But just stay here. I'll be back on women. Okay, great. Can you hear me? Yeah, okay, perfect. Yeah. Was it very like yes, it was like the tower, not very like a tower. It's like a thing in Athens is very famous. Like Oh, the acropolis. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah the acropolis. Well. I come for. I'll give you a couple more minutes just to finish off. Nearly done great. Are you getting one or. Yeah, Yeah, I can't speak and you can you hear me now? I can. Yeah, I couldn't speak. I'm red now. Like, Oh my God. Like I can't. Oh, okay, I'm sorry. I don't know what happened there. All right, okay, let's let's Carry on. Okay, so what did you write down? Could you read it out for me? Okay. I had traveled to many places before and Athens was my favorite here of the following reasons. Firstly, Athens have a long period in a long time period in history, and there are museums to go and visit to understand the history behind the sculptures. Secondly, Athens have a lot of famous landmarks, for example, the acropolis. This is very odter remarkable. The high cuthe hill is nice to look at the views to. One of the places I want to visit is South Korea, because the genre of music that I like is cable poand. That is its origin. You can visit a lot of shopping malls there that have shops that sell albums and light sticks. And there are some idols doing other activities around sel, like fan signs, fan conuns and Monts. Well done. That's really, really good. I really like how you structured it. So you said, you know, I really like this place first, and you described why, and you gave reasons why. And then you also said, after that, I wanna go somewhere else like South Korea, and you gave a justification. That's a really good. Well done. I would just maybe like some of your sentence structure, we need to improve, but we can improve on that in the lesson. Okay? That's really good. Okay. So the first writing sting task is going to be independent. You'll will be asked to write your own reading comprehension about the place. So you've done comprehension before, right? Yeah, it's where you read through a passage and then you have to answer questions. Perfect it. So reading comprehensions are short assignments. They can be fiction on nonfiction. This one is going to be nonfiction. In a reading comprehension exercise, you are asked to read an extract of writing and then answer some key questions. Yeah, and you've done that before. So we're going to read through the comprehension extract and we're going to look at what type of writing, what kind of audience it is. No moment. I can't seem to find the file with. Remance. All we can do that afterwards. In the meantime, could you write down your own example of a comprehension? So when you write your own comprehension, you have to, first of all, write the passage, right? You need to decide what kind of passage you want na write. Does it want to be informal? Is it formal? Is it targeted at people who want to travel? Is it targeted at your family or your friends? Then you need to create your own questions about the text, which create a good understanding of what's going on in your writing. So for example, if I was to do one, I would write a passage about how I really want to go to the Maldives. So you'll have heard the of the Maldives. Yeah when they're like lost. Yeah, it's is it nice? I really want to go there. It was raining. Oh no. Okay. Well, hopefully when I go it doesn't rain, but I would write a passage and I'd probably direct it as if I was writing a blog and I would say, hello, readers, I'm going here, I'm going there. I'm really excited to do this and do this. And then I would ask questions like, where does naba and naba now? Where does naba want to go? How many people does she want to see? How many people are she going with? What do you think is never excited about going to the Morris or she's not excited? Those tof questions. So can you attempt to write your own mini comprehension? Maybe write reparagraphs? And then I want five questions that you'll be able to and then I will. We can answer them together. Okay. Does that make sense? If you have any questions, you can ask me too. So, so, so it has to be like, hello reader. And it doesn't have to be, that's what I would do, as if it was a blog. But if you want to write something else, like if it was a letter to your family, it could also be an article on the Internet. It could be a caption on Instagram, something like that. Anything that youwant to do, you can be creative with it. I A blog, it's just like a like a word version of like a dog Yeah almost Yeah it's like an informal post on the Internet where people choose to read it. So Yeah it's kind of like Twitter or like if Instagram didn't have pictures kind of like that. So so should I say that like I have a in there? Hmm, I mean you can decide it says, Hey, you can decide on an interesting place you have been to or would like to go. So it can be an account of when you went somewhere or it might be more interesting if you talk about some you do want to go. So it's up to you. I'll give you about eight more minutes to finish with that, Serena. It wasn't nothing. But I that. We have about three minutes left. Okay. Did I see that my name is Serena? Yeah, of course. All right, I'll give you a minute to finish off now. Have you managed to finish. The writing and the questions not of the question. I only done three questions. Okay, I'll give you a couple minutes to write a couple more questions. And Yeah, we can talk about it again. Perfect. Well done. Oh, my God. I finish, but Yeah, it's like I've only got five questions. I can't think of any other. That's fine. That's that's totally fine. Well done. Okay. Could you read out your passage for me? Okay. What did you decide to do it about as. Japan. Oh, that's so cool. Okay. And what kind of writing did you do? A blog, an article? What kind of thing? Maybe an article. Okay okay, cool okay, read it out to me. Hello reader. I'm Serena. I have visited many places, die and y before, probably like a blog. Yeah, good. That sounds like a blog. I like before, like Italy and Greece, but I really want to go to Japan. The capital of Japan is Tokyo. Kyo is an excellent place to go with their family. One of the places that is really cool is electric town akihabar a. It will be a great place for anime fans as it has thousands of massive pictures of anime characters on the buildings. You can also buy manga books there. It would be an amazing experience for video gamers too. It is called an electric town because there are tons of devices they sell. For example, the newest version of Mario Kart and sonic frontiers. Another great city in Japan is hokkaida. This is one of the best places you go for skiing in Japan. The snow is very beautiful there as well. You can relax in a very warm bath in the hotel because most hotel have those wooden btubs in which, Because good, most hotels have those wooden bar tubs, which is very relaxing. Yeah, that's really good. Okay? Is that an end? Yeah, okay, no, that's good. I think the writing was amazing. I love the content and what you wrote inside. I think just make sure at the end just be like just like wrap it up and have a conclusion. Almost say like, thank you for reading. I hope to see you next week. That kind of being just to finish off. Okay, then after that, let me know what questions you wrote. Okay, I hope you. Yeah. For where does Sarena go before she and Oh, so where e's the Serena go before that? She enjoyed. Okay, Yeah, good. It's like Greece and it's liasaand. Then what is aha bara and I just wrote and then an electric tob. What do they sell in ahabara? The year games among the books, what is the best place to go ski in Japan? Hokkaido? What is very beautiful in Hokkaido? Snow, etc. Okay. Yeah, that's really good. Okay, well done. Right. So next what we're can do is because you've done this task for homework, if you could write up a longer version of this thatbe really good. And it should be between 400 to 600 words. Yeah but to the start of it's really good. And then you you might want to then in the longer one have different sections. So like food in Japan, history of Japan, I don't know, nature in Japan where you can stay and then like finish it off and be like, okay, I'm excited to go to Japan. See you all next week. So the way you've structured it is really good, though I like how you have actual examples of what you can do there as well. So that's really, really good. Okay, perfect. So now what we're going to do is can you research a completely new place that you don't know about? So let me give you a country. Do you know Argentina? Yeah Yeah. So could you spend about ten minutes researching Argentina for me and find some key information about what tourists do there? What are the key activities that you can do there, why do people travel there? What is so amazing about Argentina, and what kind of facts you would use for your own comprehension about Argentina? Because it's really good for your research and writing skills. Okay. It was there was research about it and also say why tourists like to visit there and also Yeah, okay, that's great. I'll give them a minute just to finish off and then sorry, what else are supposed do you can have maybe find some interesting facts about the history of Argentina just something that you would like, what you would include in your comprehension, what you think is the best things to include this. I did invite a lot like that's fine. Okay, let's spend the last five minutes kind of going through it. First of all, how did you research. On Microsoft Edge. Yeah. And what did you search up? Like what did you think of viemasorry and like reviewing that? Yeah. Okay. Really fine. That's really good. So the first thing you need to think about is you need to look at a different range of resources. So you might want to look at some websites. You also might want to look at some reviews of well on being. And there was like a lot, Yeah, exactly. So you might want to find websites of people who have been there, who from people have traveled there, people who maybe even a government website. So the first thing that's important, you to look at a different range of resources. And then the second thing is that then you should decide, okay, what topics do I want to look at? I want to look at tourism, tourist sites. I want to look at the history. Do want na look at the food. So can you share with me what you got? The Argentine Republic is a South American country. It's in the souhalf of South America. It covers up about 3 million km squred. Yeah this makes it the second biggest country in South America, just after Brazil. Tourists visit first. Boris, visit Argentina firstly, because it is a very cultural country with lots of cultures influenced by European immigrants. The natural landmark are amazing too. It gives a nature by which biologists biologists might like to explore. Another reason why tourists like to visit is the price of everything. This is why I saw on a review app, Argentina is an amazing country. I've never had so much. No, I never had such great red wine and steak for less than ten pounds of dollars. Okay, okay. I really like that. That's really good. I like how you got actual reviews and that's something that you could actually use in a comprehension that you're writing now. Sorry. Yes. So. Hello, can you hear me? I've got a lesson now. Oh, can you got another lesson? Okay, I'll see you next time then. Okay, we'll continue this. Okay, bye bye. Bye bye.
