Did you have a good weekend? I say that I told you yesterday. Did you have a good evening? Yes, yes. Oh, that's good, is you get lots of sleep. Maybe a little bit of sleep. Right. Well, today developwe've done our we finished our essay yesterday, which was amazing. And so today we're going to get you ready for this elal practice paper for your first Roding school. Okay, do have nothing to worry about. Yeah all the things that you've already know, just having confidence that you can answer them correctly. Okay. And we're looking at a little reading comprehension section. Then you're going to be giving whether something is false. Then we've got a vocabulary and word reasoning. Okay? So we want to again, choose the best words. We want to think about the best relationships. Okay? We want to think about sentence logic. Yeah and we also then want to look at grammar and language use, error correction, sentence transformation. And then we've also again, got reading comprehension and inferencing. There is a writing task on here as well. Okay. And again, no, we'll leave about 20 minutes 15 minutes to do some interview practice as well because we need to do them like sort of every lesson so that you can keep practicing practicing and we'll see how you do. Okay. And then I'm just going to keep a list. Some of these have got tasks in here of of tathat you've done before or that we've made mistakes on before so that we can come back and have a look at them in even more detail. All right. I you ready to Isabella? She would give it a go. Yes some of these you'll find really easy. Some of these you found really easy last time as well, which is was really encouraging. So let's begin. Our first task here says 25Marks. But this is a small version the task. So it's not worth 25Marks, but it's a smaller condensed version of the task. Okay, do you have text? You've got your five questions again, Isabella. Some of these remember to read that question. Someone will ask for licit explicit information, information that's in there. Other things is why and what is the likely result? What is the likely result? This would think of your own opinion, okay? So make sure you know whether it's your opinion or whether it's something from the text itself. So I would expect Isabella at where we are now at the moment, this task should take you about eight minutes, no more, no less. Okay, so I think we'll be able to achieve it. I want you to try and stick to it for me, okay, as best you can. And we'll do exception a bit like this like we always do. Yeah, we'll do like timer exercise feedback. Timer exercise feedback. Okay, so Isabella, you are welcome to put these on a piece of paper. If you don't want to put them on the board, you can put them on the board as well. You're more than welcome to put it on the board. But if you prefer a piece of paper, do feel free to grab one. Okay. Which one do you want to do? Do you want to it on the board, Isabella, or on a piece of paper? Piece. Okay donkey, have you got one or would you like to grab one? Grab one, of course, you can go grab a piece of paper as well. Okay, right, Isabella, your first ask. I feel like I'm on a quiz show. But you're not going to win any money, unfortunately. Okay, Isabella, your eight minutes use them wisely starts no. What is quality? Eququality means something like whether it's good or bad. So like this is good quality means that it's been well made. This this is bad quality because it's probably been quite badly made because it's cheap. Yeah this is my Christmas nome that I've not been away. Isabella, I do need to put this away. But yes, but Christmas name me. So Yeah, if something could be good quality, something could be bad quality is like the material of it really or how it's made. Hey, it's abelljust. Finish off that last question you were on and then don't worry if you've not finished it, we're just going to see what you were able to achieve within that time. Okay. Okay. So Isabella, what is the main idea of the text? The main idea of the tax is about many people believe that success comes from talent only. Perfect answer, Isabella. Well done. Perfect answer. Well done. According to the text, which qualities are more important than talent? According to the tax and. The ability to learn are more important than talent. Well done. Mistakes are more important. I'll don't need about that. Another perfect answer. Okay, how did some people avoid difficult tasks? People avoid difficult task, they may feel comfortable. May feel in contrast before. So why do some people avoid difficult tasks? I guess some people avoid difficult to ask because they feel comfortable. And I would say in here, comfortable to do so Yeah, because it makes them feel more comfortable, doesn't it? World in areella. What is the likely result of avoiding challenges? The likely result is it. Offered. Is often. Years prevents long term growth then Isabella, excellent. Which word from the text is closest in meaning to long term? I didn't know this one. Okay. So what does long term mean? Long time long Yeah like a long time like it means it's it's constant. Yeah long time perfect. Yeah long time long term. Okay, so Wein here. Might we see also another word that tells us something is long. This one failure? Not really, because failure means to get something wrong. You're on the right thinking that it's not quite that one. Larger, not larger. So this one would have been this quite difficult one. This could have been improve because that means something that's long term to improve consistently or persistence to keep going. That's also long term to keep going. So either of those answers would have been fine. Okay. But really well done, Isabella. Yeah, we've got four out of five here so far. That was really excellent round. Well done. Yeah. And you managed to complete it within the eight minutes. Well done. Okay, so we're now gonna have a look at verbal reasoning, false or not given. So you've wanto think about so still this article, so still on the text, but you're giving us whether it's false or not given. There's only three questions in this section and it's a or false element. So we would expect this in about three minutes. Okay, so Isabella, your time starts. Amazing. Okay, Isabella, what have you got for six? Well done. What have we got for seven? What have you got for eight? False. False. Yeah tento be faster than those who fear failure. You which means we've got four, six, seven out of eight so far. This is really strong. Okay. Next section here is Abella vocabulary and word reasoning. So you want to find the word meaning in context, so choose the best meaning of the underlined word. Okay, so there's only two in this section. So we've got nine and we've got ten. Okay, so again, we wouldn't expect anything to be too super long here. Weonly probably be thinking two minutes for this. Okay, so you just want to find the best meaning for these words, right? Isvena, good time starts now. I'm finished. Let's have a look. Is a matter. So ten is correct. Impact effect is perfect. Persistence. Now this fear is not correct. Okay, when we are persisting something, let me put it into another sentence. Buoyant. See if you could change the answer. He was very persistent. That he went out on his bike every day to learn she was so persistent in her job application that she got her dream job. Not intelligence because that would be she was intelligent, she was persistent means to be determined. Okay? So this almost determination, if you are persistent in something, it means you are consistently doing it. You're going and going and going and going. Okay? So that's what we mean by persistent teration whereonly. We've got one out of two in here. So we're on at nine out of eight, nine, ten. So we're on eight out of ten so far. Ken, Walter, Isabella. Word relationship is next verbal reasoning, which word does not belong in the group? Okay, so you want to look at these and you want to think to yourself which one in this one is not belonging in the group? Which one shouldn't be there? Twelve is. Choose the right analogy. So just choose the right next step here. And then 13, which word is the opposite of beneficial? Okay, so again, roughly about two and a half minutes here. Okay, your time as Abella starts now. Okay, let's have a little look at these. So teacher, school, doctor, right? So when we've got these, we've got teacher works in a school, that's what the relationship is. So doctor works in a lot. So this one should be hospital. When you come to verbal reasoning, it's all about logic. That's what they're checking for, the logic behind it. So here, if I had teacher, pupil, doctor, patient, that would have been correct. But this one you were looking at, teacher, school, doctor, hospital. Let me put this one onto your notes. We've not done a lot of this. We've not done a lot of verbal reasoning. So I'll put this on here. We'll do a bit more verbal reasoning. Word relationship. Okay. Let's have a look at leaconfidence confidence, motivation, hesitation, ambition, which is the one that's actually the odd one out. Confident, no confident. Motivation, hesitation amvision itation because hesitation means to be quite worried about something, whereas ambition, confidence and motivation feel like you're being active. Okay, so again, a word will put a group, words that don't belong in a group. We'll have a look at those as well. Which word is the opposite? Perfect. 13 is perfect. Well done. Yeah. Okay, so we've got one out of three in here, which means now we have nine out of 13. So if I will just keep an eye on those, a sentence logic. Next, choose the sentence that makes the most sense. And for this one, we wouldn't expect you to spend too much time on this one at all. So weonly be giving you really about a minute, one minute and 10s. It's not a lot. Diso, choose the sentence that makes the most sense. Okay, this about over to you. I'm finished. What do we think it is? Big. So although it was raining, we stayed inside because it was Sunny. Because it was raining, we decided to stay indoors. We stayed indoors, but it was raining. So the sun was shine. We're definitely isn't the sea. And this one doesn't make any sense either, does it? Because we stayed inside because it was Sunny. No, perfect wasn't them lunch. So we're on 1010 or 14. Isabella. I mean, this is this is a huge improvement from the last test. We did section three, grammar and language use. We're looking at multiple choice here. They've done it's done it right this time as and confused us with these weird numbers that it was doing last time. Thank goodness. That was really weird, wasn't it? When it went 15, 16, 17, 80? I think we have been able to have abcd this time. So you want to pick the multiple choice questions. Also, you have an error correction. Each sentence has only one mistake, but you need to rewrite it correctly and you've got your sentence transformation. So rewrite using although rewrite using a passive voice now a passive voice means that you're not actively doing it. It potentially is happening to something else, like the event has already happened. Okay, so have a go. I need to have a go at these these three. So I reckon with these sections we've got one, two. So you're looking at about two minutes and 30s for this. Okay? So section a, section b and section c. Okay, is abbetter your time starts now. Whoa, that was really quick. Have you done the error correction at b nc, Isabella, as well? I was going to say that would have been even quicker than I would have done it. I was like, that is supersonic. Okay. As Abella, I'm just going to give you a few more seconds just because we pause sofghtly because you thought you I've done it and you had dn't. So I'll pop another minute on that. Hey, if better, let's have a look. Okay, don't worry if we didn't get round to all the sections, that's the case. Just to give us a mark of where we're at of isfellow lo. So we've got if she studied harder, yes, well done. I'm really pleased with this year because last time we were sort of just slightly picking the wrong thing. But yes, if she studied harder, she would PaaS the exam. Perfect. He speaks English more confidently than his brother. That fantastic. Yeah, that's a huge improvement. Yeah, we're going in the right direction. Okay. So we've got twelve out of 16, not twelve by twelve. Twelve by 16. Okay, let's have a look at this. She don't like working under preso. She does not like working under pressure. Is correct. There is too many people weoutside. Yes, it's a bed of these with things that we were giving to you as exercises a few weeks ago. Yeah, you've got that handle. Well done. It's not don't this does not it's not too much it's too many Yeah perfect. Well done. So we've got 18 so we've got twelve, 13, 14 out of 18 so far. Okay, we didn't get round to these ones but let's have a little look at what you would have put okay, so although it was difficult he finished the task. So how would I put all into this sentence? Was difficult, although although it is difficult. It is difficult, so weird, okay? It's perfect, although it was difficult. He finished the PaaS and that's all you're doing. Yeah, that's all you're doing. Although it was difficult, he finished the task. The thing you have to remember is that the this is not going to be two simple sentences. You have to put the comma in wherever you put the obow. Yeah. So this but this is perfect. This is the right answer. Well done. Rewrite using the passive voice. They will announce the results tomorrow. They will announce the result, passive voice tomorrow. So this is a technique so we wouldn't put passive voice in here. So let's just quickly just pause them, just gonna grab something for us. And I'm going to show you passive voice and. Act good voice. So it's a technique, okay? It comes up quite a lot of nedowns. So essentially this one here, they will be announcing the results tomorrow. Okay. So if I've got an active voice, the subject does the action. Okay, so he cooks in the kitchen. Yeah. The subject, which is he. Is doing the action. Okay, however, the passive voice receives the action, and he will cook for her in kitchen. Now he's doing it for someone else. He is doing it for her. So another example, active voice, the teacher explained the lesson, passive voice, the lesson was explained by the teacher. So this is the subject is doing it. The teacher explained, this is the lesson becomes the important part. And that's just been explained by the teacher. So the object becomes the passive. Another example, the dog chased the cat. The cat was chased by the dog. Okay, this one is active. And this one is passive. This one, the subject is doing it. This one, the subject is is at the end. So if I had this, Isabella. They are cleaning the room. How would I make this passive? The room are cleaned. By. Them Yeah we change to them, but Yeah exactly what it is. Yeah well done. Excellent. One more. She writes the report, how can I put this into passive? She. The report was been written by she. Well then the report is written by her. So we changed that to her rather than she now. Yeah by Yeah, excellent. So that's what we mean by passive and active. So active is the subject is doing it. Passive it's being done by them. Well done. So we've got so we've got 2015 out 20 so far. Brilliant. Forget we've got one more task is abelland then whatever time is left after this task, we'll do a little bit of a little bit of interview practice, but we'll have a look at this one first. So again, same sort of test is only 15Marks this time, same thing. Make sure you check those questions. Yeah make sure you're really clear on whether it's information that's in the text or information that we want your opinion of. So for this we'll give you not as long I'm gonna to give you six minutes for this one rather than the eight because it's a shorter task. Okay, same idea as the section one you did. Okay isabea, your time starts no. What is advantage? So advantage means that you've got something no one else has or like it's an advantage to have tutoring, for example. So it means you've got something better, means it's something good, positive. English amazing Isabella. Okay. So what have you got for question 21? The advantage of online learning is it is. Is it offers flexibility and is convenience. Yeah well done. Excellent. Okay 22. The students may struggle without face to face support. Excellent. Well done. What skill is essential for success in online learning? The skills is self. This solve, this caline is self discipline. And again, make sure full sentence to the success of online learning. Yeah and a skill, not a skills. A skill because you're talking about one, you're not talking about many. Let's talk about one. So I'm going to give that as half a mark, but well done. Yeah which group of students is more likely to succeed and why? Students who manage the time will succeed because. They will have more time to learn. Yeah we'll come to learn. Excellent. Yeah, well done. Other answers to add into that because probably you're looking at a two marker here. So I would have given that about a one and a half again. So because we also want to understand that also with hybrid face to face and online learning. So we want sort of part of that as well. Wildon is about fantastic. So we've got one, two, three, four, five. Okay, one, two, three, four, five. So we've got five here. So we're going to add five on there. So we're 20 out of 24. I think this might be your biggest score yet. Told the line, I'm just going to do my calculations for your percentage. Isabella, we've just hit 83%. Your last test we did came up at 45. So look at that improvement. Yeah huge congratulations. Yeah 83 is a fantastic store to be picking up on here. Well done as a bureally. Really, really well done. I'm also gonna send you I'm gonna send you this task so you can pick and see if you could do one of these writing tasks for me. Okay but I'll send that in the chat for you in a bit and weldone isabbea so for the last few minutes we're not gonna get very far, we're just gonna video a few questions okay just to keep practicing. So we're just going to go over some of the ones that you've already done. So remember try and give me your best answers that you found with them. Okay, so Isabella, first of all, can you tell me a little bit about yourself? My name is Isabella. I'm 14 years old. I'm from China, Beijing, and I'm studying and beiging right now. I like the school grounds. I like the school classrooms. I like the teachers. Yeah make us really settle there. That next one was really good. Favorite favorite subject was perfect. That was a really, really nice answer. Was so basic. Don't say whenever we're talking about our worst subject. Never say because I'm rubbish up these words. Just say I find it more difficult to remember key parts of the course. I need extra help with chemistry. Yeah. I mean, are you what subjects are you actually doing for your sixth form is abenergy? You know what subjects you're gonna to do? Emand biomaybe. I'm not sure. Okay, so if you're doing chemistry as one of your subjects, do not use that as your worst but pick a different one. Yeah it can be you know it can be anything could be matif. You're not just pick a subject you're not going to do pick any subject that you're not gonna to study Yeah because we don't want to put them off and well, there is a better a but much more confident and 83% in that today is absolutely fantastic. Yeah really, really good achievement and well done Isabella. Have a wonderful rest of your name. Oh, your evening. I'll see you soon. Finally.
