Hi hi Charlotte Lee. It's Celine's got her own. I am there she is. I am still making my matte monopoly. Look at that. What's happened to my board today guys? What's happened to my board? And hi Charlotte. Hi. Been. Oh, she's on mute, but she's telling sharing meetings and stuff. She's on mute and we can't say it's yours. Okay, okay, I can't hear you, Celine, but I'm going to take it as you there and that you can hear me. I'm just figuring out what's going on with this board today. Hang on, hold the line. Like I see we've got a new student in it as well and we've got Alex. Hello, right. Let me just grab what's going on with this screen. Guys, for some reason, it's taken away our ppt. There we go. There we are. Oh, hi, hi, hi, hello. What's your name? Hello, hello, hello. What's your name? My, my name is hi, you, Zoe. Welcome to today's class. Have you done any debating double before? Have you debated before? So this will be your first debate. Well, we've got some brilliant debbaters here, Zoe, that will show you how to do everything, I am sure. Yeah, welcome. Welcome. Hi, Alex. How are you today? Oh, was was it all at school? Yes, it's always alright, right? It's my last day now she last night. So you now got a weekend off or if you've got holiday, Yeah I've got your holiday now because of is it Chinese New year, spring, spring, spring festival? What do you think? Oh, Chinese New year? No spring festival. It's near biit's in the winter. It's a celebration where you when you are going to still going to school. Can you guess it? I see. Well, that's very exciting. That's very exciting. Yes, Celine. It's that I made a monopoly too. It is our winter holiday. MaaS homework. Amazing. Look at that. You've got a monopoly board. This is really, really nice. Feet inside this. Oh wow. You've made some monopoly money and everything that is so cool. Well, guys, it's a special day for me as wow, do you know what day it is for me today? No, it's my birthday. Is my birthday today? Yes, it is very old today. Thank you very much, Charlotte. So hopefully we're going to have a good debating because that made me very happy. Yes, it will. Oh, this, somebody's got a little friend in class who's this silwho is my Chinese. And my Chinese teacher gave me that. Oh, that banner work shedid. All correct. Teacher led us to the market. Oh, that is a very good idea. Well, I've got my lovely little duck Betty in class today that she's new. That's got five of them. Wow, five of them. And we've got we've also got a shop. We've got Candy shoppers we're in here today. Yes, Charlotte. Like Zoe, what school are you in? That's good question. Finally, a first grade. Why? She's in first grade. I think she asked you what school you were in. Zoe, what school are you at? You don't have to tell us if you don't want to. Number two, kmarine. A different score team, you think, Charlotte? Yeah. Well, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome. Today. We've got a big debate today, actually, and we're going to be thinking about matter manand methods. Zoe, when we get to our debate, these guys will just help you understand what we do and how we do it. Okay, you'll you'll be a debator by the end of today's class. So matter manner and method are successful for winning. Okay? So matter, what is the matter? What's the topic? Where do you stand? Do you agree? Do you disagree? What are the arguments to it? What are the examples? Evidence? Okay, it's important that you tell us everything about this topic. And why is that, Alex? Why do we need to make sure we understand the topic, we understand our arguments, and we understand our examples? You're on mute. Talics. Can you ask someone asked for a moment since I'm still thinking about all ad games we I'm going to be on in this. Oh, that's okay. That's not about thinking a bit. That's fine. Alex. Thank you very much for that's okay and thank you for being really honest. Alex and Charlotte. What do you think? Why do you think it matters? Why do you think knowing our topic, knowing our argument, knowing our examples is really important for debating? So there's a, here's an example. There's team a and team b. Team a thinks cats are better. Team b thinks dogs are better. But one person in team a doesn't know what they want to argue. So the person just says, I think dogs are better. And then we're like, but there's no evidence. I don't know why you're saying it. Yes, chartte x, so we why do you think we have to give reasons to why we think something? Because if there are no reason, the world will probably be messy. That's a good, that's a really good answer. Yeah, it could be if we first got everyone saying, I don't want this. I don't like this, this isn't good. That isn't good. It's gonna be messy. Makes no sense. Why do you want to stop this? Why should we stop plastic? Why should we stop cars? Why should we do this? We must give reasons, right? We're all confused. Oh, Celine has got some birds that have arrived. Celine, why do we need evidence in our debates? Why can't I just say my opinion matters? Thank you very much. We we need evidence. We need evidence because if we don't use evidence, others do not trust us. Like we say, I made a monopoly and others do not have the evidence. And if I show them the evidence, they know I made one. Very well done. Yeah. Otherwise you've just said something that may you may not be very, very well done. And so Alex, why do you think we have to make arguments? Why do we have to make points in? Why can't I just give you one point and not be enough for my debating? Why do have to give you lots of arguments and you've just got one point when your vin convincing and if you have lots of points to back your first point up, then it will be a lot more convincing. Yeah, it will be convenient. Excellent, Alex. Absolutely. Well done. So yes, charlote. We need the different like reasons because one might not be enough, and some are actually good reasons to prepare for rebuttos. Well, dand Charlotte, while we're on rebuttals, can you please tell Zoe? Because Zoe may not know what a rebuttal is. Can you explain to Zoe what a rebuttal is? Like team a says a argument, team b needs to rebutdle to win team a's argument, then team a needs to win team brebuttle, and that is called a counter rebuttle rebutand Charn. What do we do when we rebuttle. First, when team a is talking, team b takes notes so that team b person, people knows what to say when they're rebutttling. Yes, excellent. What they're saying. Team a, your argument, what you just said is incorrect. And this is why. So sorry, what we do, we listen to what the other person has said and say. Speaker Charlotte said that plastic bags were fine to stay in the environment. However, our team believed that this is not correct because okay, so we can what we call rebuttle then so okay, I guess Celine. Rebuttals and canary buttals are the time you proof others wrong, yes, are trying to prove people wrong yesterday. You. Just Press it by accident. That's okay. So we've got an example here. Football is the best team sport. I believe football is the best team sport. Be cuts. Okay, so you're going to say whether you agree or disagree, you need to provide useful content so your audience will be actually be interested in and out. Well Alex has got a big thumbs down. Alex is saying no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Okay, why do you think no, Alex? Because personally, I don't like that much. So we've already got a person that doesn't like in Charlotte, Charlotte saying, no, Charlotte's going, no, no, no, no, no. Why do you think no, Charlotte? I don't think football is the best team sport because everybody that has arms and legs and knows how to run and kick and has a brain could play football. Oh, you feel quite passionate about that benjla. I guess there is. I don't think football is the best in sport, because if you play football so long, your leg will be tired and you need enough rest for another race. Exactly. Yeah, okay. So I can't believe it. No football. No football. Celine, where are you on this topic? Would you say, Yeah, it's the best game? Or would you say, no, it's not? I will say no, because because because if you have arms, lejust, as Charlotte said, and you have a brain, you can play it. Not like others, like basketball. I mean, ihoki, you need to know how to skate. Yeah and like ping Kong, you you have to have good eyesight. Very, very well done. So each of them has their own skill, don't they? Well, stic charts game, I love ice hockey. I think ice hock is the worgame in the world. Anyhow, we're not talking about that thing and we're gonna get to our biggest debate in a moment. And what is manners? So manners, how you present it. Okay, I've said this to you before. If we are presenting a speech like this, what's the problem with this speech? What's the problem here? Yes, Charlotte. Like like manif you win, like have you win? You cannot be like over congratulating yourself and your team very well. The other like team a is like we and team deep is like you do have to be polite. Yes, the more team a's says we, the more team b says I know, and that can be part of it. But I wanna think about it while we're in the speech. What's the problem with this, guys? What's the problem with this? Yes. So what's the problem with my presentation right now? What is the so Zoe, can you see my screen? What's what's the what's the matter? What's the problem now with my screen as I'm speaking to? You, because charity has already speak before, so she should be on that line. But yes, sorry, but look, look at my screen. What's wrong with my screen? What's wrong with the way I'm sitting? The problem? You can see my forehead economi, you can only see my forehead. I can't ever, I can't debate like this. This is rude. You don't want to teacher, teacher, you like this, too right? You want to be able to see my face. So we've got to make sure manners. So e is when we are making sure that we're speaking nicely, that we're presented well, that you can see people. Yeah there's nothing worse than not being able to see your face. We can't see anything that you're saying you're too loud Yeah or you're too quiet, Yeah because otherwise we can't hear you. So it's about the way you present yourself, okay? Like you're all doing today. You've all got wonderful manners. So we just have to debate like that as well. Well than though. Yes. Sharman, Yeah. But see that the bunny rabbit is of doing the debate. We kind of the budloody rabbit thy the today yesterday to lead. It is that one of the bad manners that sometimes my classmates do is this. They take a paper and put it in front of their fits. Thanks. Yes, exactly. That's not good. Even because if I'm speaking like this, then you can't see me at all. And I look like, I don't care. I'm awesome. Things aren't good for our manners. Okay? You look that ice. Other things that aren't good, it's harder in online classes but when you're face to face with people, there's nothing worse than looking down at the ground or looking away like that like good evening ladies and gentlemen. Have come here today to talk to you about bounding plastic but I'm gonna to look everywhere else but at the audience. Okay, so they're quite bad manners. Also if you are rebutling, you are making an argument against the other team. We should look at that team. Yeah there's nothing worse than making an argument and ignoring them. Yeah. Yes, Charlotte. Yeah, like this. So in rebutling, this person says this person is darker than him, and this person thinks his lighter actually craying. And they just fight like this. I am lighter. I am lighter. I am lighter. That's not God. Yes, shla, I think it's a good analogy. I'm going to make it yesterday. I have one ruler and a pen and a pen, blue stick. And because they said I like it, I like ruler. Ruler is the best, okay? Blue stick is the best. They were no reason they will. Right. I think I think guys, that your analogies to Zoe, you're being crabecause. I think Zoe, we've got it. I think she's understood exactly what rebutttling is all about. So bad example, if you're looking down, you're not being persuasive. People lose interest. You want to present you and be clear. You want to be interesting. You want to be prepared. Yes, Charlotte, you can. I just only say that you could not have holes in your arguments. Like one time in class, we had a small debate about our, I mean, is Nick a troublemaker or not? Nick is the main character in the book, friend, though. And like, although I'm in in the troublemaker team, I don't want to be in there, of course, but the troublemaker team won. And that's because one time, one time, one of the that I mean, like it's mainly because in the creative team, the one person said. Who said so? Who said Nick is very great. I mean, like who says so? Who says Nick is very a troublemaker. And the troublemaker team just says, I said so, it's holes. So that's holes. Exactly. That's got no, the hole. Yes. So look, I repaired the hole. You did indeed. Well done, Shalet, yes. I think in an argument, you can't just say some normal things because it is like, I like cluler. I like glue I think because ruler can help people but and you think can also help people too. And if and they talk, talk, talk, if suddenly I talk uler was housethen, it would be it would be you speak wrong because you're not liking the words very well, not giving a good enough excuse. Well, that right guys, we're gonna we're gonna move on the west. We're not gonna have bit of time to do our apple debate, but I love this. Yeah we want this from later. So the methods, Yeah we've been using these throughout our classes signposting firstly, secondly, thirdly, for example, in conclusion, introduction, Yeah what does your team think? Does it agree? Does it disagree? Give us your reasons, your conclusions, your summaries, okay. And other methods. Think about the point, think about the explanation, think about the examples you'll make and think about linking it back to the question. Okay? So it's really, really, really important as Charlotte zine have gone off and get their notes already. Okay. Before I open the floor to any discussions we have today, should we ban scientific testing on animals? I'm going to show you a little video first, okay? And then I want to hear what you will think. Okay, here we go. Animals most often used for prere clinical research. Preclinical research is often utilized in order to determine the overall safety of any new drugs being developed that are going to be used on humans. Thank titrage ever wonder what happens before the medicine is able to be administered to humans? Because it's necessary to test the effectiveness of these new drugs on living creatures. Animal models are often used in order to determine the overall effectiveness of the drug, and because medical device testing can take years to complete, it's truly essential that the animal being considered for medical testing meets any and all necessary requirements anytime. Preclinical research involves the testing of new drugs. A number of different animals are considered in order to determine which animal models will work best for the particular drug being created. How do they make that decision? The decision on which animal to use in the new preclinical research is based on a few different factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, the type of drug being tested, the size of the animal models and the characteristic of the animal models. For example, medical device testing often includes pacemakers. A pacemaker is a device that helps regulate someone's heartbeat because this type of medical device testing requires it to be attached to the animal. Smaller animal models like mice simply won't work, even though mice are one of the most utilized animals when it comes to preclinical research. Thus, finding the appropriate animal model for an upcoming preclinical research is going to be essential for the overall success of the research study. What are some common animals used other than mice? Other animals often used for preclinical research studies include rabbits, pigs, sheep, guinea pigs, birds, fish and ferrets. What about animals that are even more similar to humans? Although dogs, cats and non human primates are also used in preclinical research studies, as they have many characteristics that make them similar to humans, these animal models account for less than 1% used in preclinical research studies. Next time you have to go to the doctor, think about what animal may have been used to test your medicine. Music. Okay, let's open the floor to our discussion. A very big debate today. So animals are used to help fight humans, medicine and safe drugs to keep them alive. However, some animals are not always treated very well. So any thoughts? Anybody got any thoughts? To start us off, let's start with Alex. What have you got? What do you think Alex? I think we should. You you are investsing even disagrees. You don't think we should ban it? No, yes, I don't think so. Okay, tell me what friends first. Most direct reason is because what medicine saves thousands provide today are created by testing on animals. If we don't do tests on animals, when we can ensure safety of medicine. And so it might be harm. So we be testing some animals before we do human trials. When we do testing on humans, when humans use. Okay. So you think it's important? Thanks. Carry on. And I. Admit vemobeines are important, but human, but humans, like we don't want to see other humans suffer. So there are posts that can make less pain. So animal won't be in pain even though we are dying, but we don't feel any pain. We don't feel anything pain. So it makes them better. It won't make them feel pain if you're easier for us to test on them. Okay, Alex, a good opinion, a well thought out opinion. Thank you very much. So we what do you think you agreed? You disagree? I agree because we should stop haranimals. Haranimals is a bad thing. So I so I think we should agree to banimals. So what do you think we should do instead away instead of of trior doing scientific testing on animals? What do you think we should do instead? I think we should study because everything you must use, you would must find out it one day. So we should not harm them. We should study them. So we should just study the animals instead of harming the animals. Okay, I like this answer. How do we make sure that medicines are okay for humans? Do you think humans should volunteer for the medicine? You know maybe humans that are sick should should do their medicine, or do you think or do you think we should develop robots to test the medicine? What do you think we should do instead of animals? I think we shall use, we shall use, I think we shall use robots. But some robots, will it? But some robots wouldn't. Did it? Okay. So I think we should use robots to see what the effects of the medicine might have, because theybe able to say wouldn't if they're intelligent enough. This is good medicine. This is bmost and I are very good. Sile. Celine is desperate. She's got a hand up. She's wiggling. What do you want to say, Celine? What do you think? I think if a person. Oh, no, if you're frozen, Celine. They both frozen. Alex will come to you ear and they won't come back to Celine when she's back on going. Alex, very sad that we should use robuts instead of animals. Robots aren't enveloped enough. Did you test most robots, even the most closest ones to humans can be tested on yet most bots are made of meto. And when I made a belof tubes, we don't have the same effects as animals than humans. Yeah, they not react. They very dangerous. So it could be dangerous and animals are a better way to find out. Okay, I mean, it is. But I suppose with robots and technology, can that give us a better formula? So we know it's much, much safer for humans to try and let's say we did ban it. Let's say we did. Bad animals are being tested on. What else could we do to test these medicines? Should we perhaps I have humans that are perhaps very sick who have got these diseases. Do you think they maybe should they should try it? Or do you think it's just too risky for a human to try these new medicines? Yes, next because I want to to so we don't agree that should be animals, but we do agree that it's too it's too risky for humans to try it. Okay, so Alex, what do you think if I took, if I banned animal testing, how am I gonna to make sure that it's safe for our human beings? I don't know if away when we should have animal testing. Animal testing is only because there isn't another way yet if if technology is better and we can make for bots that has the same action that humans when we may be able just stop animal testing. So we think in the future, maybe we're not right now. Yes. So. Teacher, can we can we just like I suddenly think the others is right and I go to you. Absolutely. Cathis is a discussion. This is not our debate. Yeah, absolutely. And why do you think Alex has convinced you to go to the other side? And it has if because I think that maybe we need to save people. So we haven't have made medicines, need to make the medicines with the animals in my maybe it comes down to certain animals. Yeah. Well, let's have a look. Some things that I, the people agree with. So this is they think it should be banyeah expit animal testing contributes to lifsaving cures and treatments. Animal testing is crucial. Now this is quite funny. Should be bands, animals. Yes, we should. But I don't know why the agree team is saying no, we shouldn't. So animal testing contributes to life saving cures and treatments. Animal testing ensures that vaccines are safe. We don't have any other alternative yet. There's no robots or body scanners to help us check that this is okay. They're good research subjects. They're similar to animals. They have the same sort of structure and organs. And we can do a lot of research. They've got short life cycles so we can see if we inject something, what happens over time, so we can see what happens to the animal. Okay. So I would say that that's for disagree. We're not banning it. I think feel like these are reasons for why we wouldn't ban it. Let's have a look at reasons why we would look at it, reasons we would ban it. Animal testing is cruwel. It can be cruel. Scientists don't always treat their animals very well. Scientists are able to test vaccine on human volunteers. Humans can volunteer to be part of studies and get paid for that. That could be a choice a human could make. Methods now exist to replace the need for animals, like technology, computers, robots, systems, screens. Animals are different to humans in many, many ways. So is testing on them really the best option? And most experiments involving animals are flawed. They're not very good. And so you're kind of wasting your time. Hi, thia back. I'll pop to you in a second. Yes, mx. You said that animal testing is crucial. Scientists don't always treat their animals well. But now we have ppills. So animals we test won't be in pain, even though it's crucial. But we won't be in pain. We won't feel anything wer't being in pain. So it's become less of a problem. And there are better ways, she says. I could you could also say, anex, a lot of animals now get tested once the medicine is pretty good. Yeah. So actually, some of these animals are now only tested once the vaccine is ready. They they use other technology to test performance. So maybe they're not being as cruel. So there are, however, some scientific labs that are not good. They test makeup on them. We don't need animals to test makeup. Yeah, so think about that as well. They help us with medicine, but is it right to test makeup on them? Makeup? We don't need makeup. Yeah, we like makeup. We don't need it. Yeah. So think about that side of it as well. Well done, Alex. Okay, Charlotte and celalia back. Okay, Charlotte, what's your thoughts here? Wait, like the the was you? That's okay. So Charlotte, do you agree? Do you think yes, we should ban it or do you disagree? Do you think we should I think I, I think we should ban in more testing. Okay. And why do you think we should. Because those might hurt the animals mainly, like they will hurt them, but if they don't die, they cannot live and they cannot die, their life would be miserable. And you could kill them. They might feel a lot of pain and you may feel a lot of pain. Okay, I'm gonna come up gonna we're going to hear from Stine. Yes, Charlotte. Charlotte. Like there's something called a joke about animal testing and to not test on them. Put your feet in their shoes if they have. Yeah, and your shoes, you knew she people joke heart as if they have because animals don't have shoes. It don't indeed. Well done, Charlotte. Okay, really nice point, Celine. We're gonna to sit to sleep and then we're going put into teams. Celine, what do you think? Do you think we should ban it? Do you think we shouldn't ban it? I think we should ban n it. Okay, why do you think we should ban it? I think we should ban n it because they were hard done, and they will be measerable, and they might also die. They have families too. And also now we can test it on the humans that already have stickness. And also that they already had the sickness the medicine might even help them because if that sickness doesn't have any other medicine, you can use that just for a try. But it doesn't that person called sickness that person will keep that stiffness will do well. The Celine I'm just very conscious of time and I'd like Zoe to get a full debate today. So we're gonna now have five minutes in new groups. Charlotte and Celine, it sounds like you're on yes let's ban it. Yeah so we're going to pop you into the yes let's ban it park bracket. And Alex and Zoe, I feel like you're in the know what, let's not ban it. So you two are gonna to work together, okay, I am gonna to pop you into your own separate room so that you can't hear what each other is saying. We're not gonna have very long so don't worry, okay? If you don't manage to, we're not gonna to talk. We're not gonna have a like long time for debate as in the timing 's gonna be short ter today, so we're gonna have good evening, ladies and gentle men. Madam Chair, that's me. I'm the judge from the boss and we're thy opponents. Okay, today, I believe, Yeah, we should ban it. We should not ban it. Firstly. Secondly, for example, in conclusion, thank you. Okay, so Alex and Zoe I'm going to keep you in the room with me and Celine and Charlotte I know are gonna to have a wonderful discussion in the bracat room so I'm gonna grab you all. I will be in there Charlotte and Celine as well like as I'll drop in, let's send them off there. Okay, they're off to their own room so we're going to have about six minutes guys. Okay, so zobie, I'm just going to get a timer for the others and then me, you and Alex are going to have a little chat about your team okay, right. Okay ladies, I know you know what you're doing so I'm gonna pop six minutes on I want to be sensible. Yeah I know you will because I know you work very very well as a team because I can see you working already. I can see you, I can hear you if you need me, just give me a shout. Okay, I'll be back in 2s. Okay, right Alex and Zoe, what are we gonna talk about? And okay side should we think about what you go because we've got loads, we've got so much have we? So and Zoe, what kind of things do you think you want to talk about? What's perhaps going to be your first point that you're going to make? I think we should we shouldn't ban ban the scientific testing on animals because that then that would save hundreds of human life. And your life is very important. But if you think if if you were sick and you lost your life, you will never go back to this world again, it's not because. Great exis, that's going me your first points zobrilliant. Alex, what's your going to be your first point? My point, and I've already got three points. One ex main point. Give us your three points you're going to talk about Alex, just even if they're just brief it, taall of it. But just give us what's your first one? What's your second? What's your third? I write it down, but I don't. No, I can read it. That's okay. I'm gonna to think one can read it. That's okay. Alright protect people by changing state first it means bye. Yes, making sure that medicine works first. Yes, or medicine works first and done with care to avoid unnecessary form. M, so when or unnecessary, there won't be unnecessary harms to animals, and we won't use ppils, so we won't feel any pink. No bad. There are no better choices right now. You can test a medicine on humans yet, since we might die. And human lives, in people's opinion, is better than animal lives. But as you say, we can wear shoes, put just feet in, wear shoes for once. It means, what if you are in? Yes, that's one part. But we don't have any other choices right now. So we will make any unnecessary harm, but we don't have a choice. We must use testing things robots aren't official enough, can't use. Great, Alex. Okay. So sounds like you've got some really good points for your debate. So Zowe we've got currently you've got obviously talking about saving lots of lives. Alex is talking about protecting people using pain pills to help animals not feel the injection and better choice if you don't have any other better choices. So Zoe, what else can you talk about? Whether two points could you make? I think because human love is important, there are three points. One, if you will only have one life, if you you died, you won't have any life to survive on this world. So now what's going to be your second point in today's debate? And you some some robots can't can't it has thought every every part in the animals very correct at real animals pack Yeah un't able to to copy an animal yet. Okay, brilliant. And what's going to be your final point you're going to raise today? And the cost of our life is important making. Which world you get more people to survive we really need to get some animals most but like some this you can just make a few tests not many many is bad so you can so you can test on a few not or not okay and depends perhaps different animals Yeah like different kind of animals right Zoe and Alex you've seen ready Google go check on Celine and Charlotte but here's the Zoe this here will help you for the debate okay so you don't have to say example you could say thirdly instead if you want to but this here is a good structure for us to use okay and there's all your points you have these in the debate you'll see all this okay so you don't need to remember it right gonna go grab Celine and Charlotte okay hello how we doing where e's Charlotte gone what's happened to shaana about po shaana there hello shaana whiyou've swapped I here I've come to grab you Oh you back one you dang into one screen you should go back here no no sure disadisappear literally disappeared literally has disappeared let's exeveryone's back we're fine we're all back I don't want dollars but it's a game in the same house so just about okay right right everyone one's in the wrong places right today's debate let's get it underway shall we I. Will leave any notes on the board. I know girls, you have your iPad. Wait, yes, Charlotte. Wait, yes, Charlotte. I need to tell. Selling something. Airdrop pped does stuff. I mean message does stuff to me. She's gonna message this stuff, right? Guys, let's get underway the way we're not gonna have time for our full debate, right? Alex, we're gonna to put you as the first speaker of the negative because it's Zoe's first debate. It gives chance for Zoe to hear everyone else so you can have that chance to listen to everyone's over four. You have your debating day, but we're very excited. I think you're gonna do a fabulous job at Charlotte, Celine. Who's going first? Who's going second? Who's first speaker? Who's second speaker? I am first speaker, Celena's first speaker. Charlotte is second speaker. Each of you will have up to two minutes, okay, roughly two minutes for your debate today. I am your chair. I'm on my way down. So Zoe, what happens okay, is we have a timer on, which will be two minutes today because it's your first update ate. Once the timer is finished, I will ask you to stop. That does not mean you did anything wrong, Zoe. If that's just the way debating is, we stick to a timer. You'll get used to those timers. Okay? So did worry if you're like, I didn't finish, but the time is finished. It's okay, right? The order, you'll learn that timer as you go along, all right? If it's very strict, we ask everyone to not talk over each other. If we have time, you may ask a question to the other team. We may not have time for that today, but we'll see. So you'll have a section for debating and rebutttling. But everybody has to listen to everyone's arguments first. Okay, so here we go. Let's get started. So we are debate today is should we ban at scientific testing on in our affirmative team saying, yes, we should ban it is speaker Celine and speaker Charlotte in our negative camp saying, no, we should not ban it? Is speaker Alex and speaker Zoe, each speaker has two minutes today. Speaker Celine, are you ready? Wait, wait, wait. Do we need to like, do we like does the first person, this first speaker, need to say a small conclusion for her? Or that could be the second th gonna to speak? Does the second speaker need an intro? No, the second speaker does not need an intro. Okay. Wait, I meant a intro. Like wait, so charloh, we're going to have to start my lovely, otherwise we're not going to get started with our debbetokay. So you're able to have an introduction if you want one. Yeah, you can have any introduction if you want to. Charlotte. You have to as the second speaker. Okay, right, speaker Celine, are we ready? I don't want to lose time this year. I don't want us not to get the debate done. I want us to be able to do the debate. Okay, here we go. Yes, that's fine. Celine and Charlotte. That's fine. That's fine. And okay, speaker Celine, your time starts now. Remomoved use in that in that experience, playing traand dance. And as our more circle expense, many argue that causing unsuffering to sentient beings require require justification. Not. This is how it's always been. And also, and also now we have, and now we have many organs grown from human cells, and we can test, we can test those medicine on them. And also using animals at a slow and expensive a new studies require Brigain housing and long time lines. Also. Also, animal models often fail to predict human outcomes. Many drugs that work on animals fail in humans, and some drugs that are toxic to animals are safe for humans. And and animals are not really like real humans. Now we have computers that that can predict how the medicine will work on the animals or humans. Then thank you very much. Speaker line, a fantastic argument. Well done. Okay, speaker Alex, are you ready? Okay, speaker Alex, your time starts now. I don't think we should ban animal testing because first me. Brought up people by changing status first. When you do animal testing, it's because to test if the medicine is okay to use on humans. So we use animal testing to know what the medicine effect is. But element that animals are also creatures. So. We suffer when we do tests on one, so we have pples so that the animals won't feel pain. And third, we don't have any other way of testing medicine, so we are forced to do animal testing. We are no better way yet, but if we are, when we can use two bobut, what ts aren't invfast enough to do any to test on at the moment? So we can we do animal testing? In conclusion, I think we shouldn't buy dima testing. Thank you very much. Speaker Alex, nice fe signposting. Alex, Yeah, clear addresses. Well done. Excellent. Okay. Speaker Charlotte, your time starts now. Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I think we must spend testing on animals. My first reason is that they could feel pain. They are almost just like humans. And the emotions parts, it is cruel and causes and most suffering. You should put your feet in their shows es if they have. And animals are poor predictors of human biology. Although birds are not really like humans. But chocolate and coffee are toxic to birds. That's an example of animals most not being like humans. And we could test those drugs and stuff on AI and human cell models like the one we made from. Robots, human cell models, maybe humans could make one of those things, like a model on a iPad or laptop. They could see how the artificial drug goes through the cells or blood cells like that. We could know everything we want to know. I think, after all, I think we must spend testing on animals. Thank you very much. Alla, a fantastic debate. I don't think I've ever had a today. Charlotte weldone, excellent. Okay, Zoe, are you ready? Your time starts now. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Today I stand with no, we shouldn't bthe scientific casting our almost first, I have three points. So the first point is that medicines save thousands of human life. You only have one life. So if you if you die, you won't have another life for you to survive on this world. And I think that robot robot should, can't can't be testing because because robots didn't got the very correct of remomost body part, and because they, they're metal, so they Werthe real most body part. And that Cabeen will sometimes make the people's illness even worse. And humans like it are very important. And if you don't, if you make medicines by other ways, some medicines will probably, in some medicines will probably make your your island even worse. So you, so we should, we shouldn't ban the scientific taon animals. And you can, if you want to save some the most you can just you can just use feel but many not many. Well done Zoe. Thank you very much. That is your time this is what Charlotte what did that say? This is this is not rebuttle like we know it's a little rebutling. That's okay. That's amazing. Well done. So we your very first Yeah ay let's all remember what it was like to do our very very first debate. It's scary Yeah and I think you've done a fabulous job. Zonice signposting Yeah, you were really clear in your points. I thought there was very excellent zowell, well done. You all did very well. I am now really struggling to announce today's winner. One side, Celine and Charlotte, talked about the effects of how bad it is for animals and the fact that chocolate and harmful things go into animals bodies. I mean, that was a very, very, very good point. Zoe and Alex talked about the fact that there is no other option. And actually human life is perhaps more precious in some ways. Yes, Charlotte, do we have the like free free bilunfortunately? Charlotte, because because of the disconnection and stuff, we've not had time for that because we've had to wait for everyone's come back on. But we will next time, Charlotte, I promise. But unfortunately, we have run out of time today. But you guys did an amazing job. Oh, today's winners. Really difficult, really, really, really, really, really, really difficult. But I am going to award it too. Alex and Zoe, you just slightly convinced me a little bit more, but I was very torn, was very, very torn. It was so close to a draweldon cele Weldon, Charlotte Welton, Alex Welton, Zoe, and thank you very much for joining us, Zoe. And thank you, Alex, Celine and Charlotte, for welcoming Zoe to our classroom today as well and helping her along our way, which is really beautiful to see. Next week. We should ban violent video games. Yes, Charlotte. Like I wanted to do, I'm just going to say a point of the rebuttal. And have lives too, not only humans. I know that's very good, isn't it? Charlotte, I know that you had a very good rebuttal. We will do it next week. I promise we have run out of time. Anyway, guys, I wanna say thank you very much for being incredible. Yes. So just before I go, I want, I want to draw a thing. You can draw, you can absolutely draw on the board. Your award is definitely to draw on this board. Have fun drawing on the board and I will leave the classroom made fun. You all this is a tv. You play video game here. And when you think this this board is like isn't very clear. It means you need to do this. Wear glasses. Oh, wehave to wear glasses. Very good point, isn't it? Alex, Zoe, Celine and Charlotte, I thank you very, very, very, very, very much for your contribution today. I will see you very soon. Have a good day, guys. Bye.
