One, let me. Hi, George. You're okay. Yeah, Yeah, Anne was just here, George as well. So Anne should be joining us in a moment. How are you today, George? If you had a nice day? Yeah, Yeah, I did to go to school. Yes, I had three parties in school, but no one, not two. You had three parties. How did you make all three parties, George? I don't know. So you've partied all day, George, and there been Christmas parties? Yes, Yeah, no, okay. Okay. One was not. And what did you get to do with the party? Did you get to dance? Did you get to sing? Did you get to run around? I got to play iPad. You got to play Oh, wow, you got to play on the iPad with your friends. Yeah that's can we swap days, George? Do you want to come teach and all go to the parties or swap jobs? You be me and I'll be you and go to the parties. No. Right, I said ac was here and but we'll start and then anncan join us. She was in here waiting for us, but she's disappeared. She was like the phtiso, George, we're gonna begin and then the guys will turn up where I am sure of it. So do we know what the difference is between public speaking and a debate? George? Do we know what it is to be a public speaker? Okay, so public speaking is when you make a speech to an audience, okay? And there's no debating, no one questions you, you're just delivering a speech, okay? So prime ministers, presidents, maybe someone on the telly, maybe a celebrity, people give a speech, but no questions, no rebuttalles, you're just speaking. But what is a debate, George? The big is when someone's fighting over something Yeah when someone is having a knife argument gment with with others about the topic high. Oh, we're really excited to see you. Well, then, George, exactly what a debate says. So it's public speaking. You're just giving a speech, a debate. We're debating with other people about an argument or topic. Hi, boo. How are you? Happy what you eating? Momu what you eating? Maybe eating a lemon. Apple, I went, le, I don't think we're eating a lemon movement on. And I thought, Oh, that must be better. Hi, Anne. I said, Anne. Anne was here. Then Anne disappeared. I came back, Anne, and you were gone. How are you, Anne? How are you feeling? I'm great. I had my English show today. I have to go. It's great. I sing the song, do you say, in front of everyone? Yes, that was to call police. Would would you give us any of the song? Annor you like I've done this song? You don't have to do the song after no pressure. I it's gonna say you've it already. You don't want to sing it. That's fine. If you want to sing it. I've all ears for a song. Well, that sounds exciting. Yeah. Well, and you were like a disappearing act to be here and then you were gone. Well, welcome. Welcome. Annwe have just started me and George and George, by the way, mumi and Anne have been has been to three parties today. Three, no one or two, three parties. He's had a lovely day. We are looking at public speaking and debate. And public speaking is when we make a speech to an audience, no rebuttals, no arguing, you're just making a speech. And a debate is when we're having a nice argument with others about a topic. Okay? And we've got to think about rebutling in ffways. And we're going lots of rebutttling today. So rebuttle, what do we need to do when we rebuttle on moving. What do we do when we rebuttle? Me review rebuttle into the receptor to do to what the tion the other side of the topics he has said I explained why they are wrong. It is also known as the reflection. Well done ref you but we'll know it. We'll call it a rebuttal nice do red gone. We're gonna to call it a rebuttal. So rebuttle is when you listen to what the other person says and say George said on his second point this he is wrong because okay, since when we're on other sides of the team and we've got to think about what they said and how we're gonna to rebuttle. So give a brief one sentence of the argument from the other team so that the judge knows what you are rebutattling, okay? Because remember you rebuttle after they've spoken, you've got to be really clear about which argument you're rebutattling. Why is it incorrect? Explain why their argument is incorrect. Yeah, I don't believe this because and why are cases better? You need to convince the judges that your team have a better argument than the other team. So you want to support it with evidence. So I am going to give you a speech all about that. Books are better than movies. I want you to think about how you could rebut me. How can you make my argument wrong? Okay. My first point about why books are better than movies is that books allow your imagination to flow. This is because in books, there are no pictures, so you are forced to think about everything looks like. But if you are watching a movie, he gives you a picture and you can't imagine anything else. For example, when you are reading a spaceship, you can imagine the spaceship as being super cool, awesome and huge. Whereas if you're watching a movie, the spaceship turns out to be rusty and tiny, it ruins the experience for you. Therefore, because your imagination can flow, books are definitely better than movies. Okay, annn, can you rebuttle me? And what I want you to think about is I want you to state Lisa said weathis speaker. Lisa said. So we know which point you're making. I don't agree because okay. So Anne, can you rebutme, can you do a rebuttal? Well, I think that books are better than movii know. I know. Don't worry, it's okay and you don't have to believe in it. I thought you might say that, but that's like just pretend. Just pretend for the exercise. So what could you say if you're on the negative team side? An speaker, Lisa, said that books are allowed you to imagination to flow. I don't agree it because sometimes when you look at the book, you cannot like, you cannot feel the actors, they do the acfeelings and you can't imagine too. For example, when you see a movie, you know the actors voice holiit is and and when you look at the book, you don't know like you don't know what what voice are and their action. So I think that movies are better than books, that an was a perfect rebuttal. Now I needed to address my point, but you said why you disagreed and then you gave an example that Anne was perfect. Well done. Okay, George, could you rebutckle me? Books allow your imagination to flow, but if you don't have enough imagination, you won't. No what they. No, you want to know what they look like. And for example, some pictures in books doesn't have color, and you want to know the color of it. So movies are better because. Me movies are better because. You. Can see the color. And if you're reading a book, sometimes you may read different accents. If you're watching a movie, can know what accent it is. Yeah, George. Beautiful. Yes. Exactly what you want to do. Again, you addressed my point. You said why you disagreed, and then you explained your own reason. Okay, perfect. Well, dunjust. Okay, muo, can you rebuttle my argument? Your argument is the left this so speaker Lisa said. So speaker says sad. Books are better than movies is that books allow your imagination, imagination to flow. I don't agree, because. Movies can give us some energies and we can see some cold. Run and some colorful people, but books couldn't run and it couldn't tell us things and it couldn't say, and movie can say, like blablablablablaand books couldn't say some movie are better because you can see it. Have some imagination. Thank you. Thank you very much. My, okay, we're not going. I could say, can have a speaker. No blablablah, blablablah, blah, blah, blablah. We move. Fantastic. Yeah. Again, nice. You've addressed me. You've addressed the problem. Okay, well done guys. This is what we want for our rebutttling. Yeah what did they say? So the judge knows which point you are arguing. Why do you not agree with me? And then you also got to give an example for the other side, okay, to make your arguments stronger. So here are some signposts for rebuttal. So I could say that is not the case as we see people picking up litter all the time. The point is, yes, books can be better than movies, but it's unimportant because your argument does not work in reality, does not work in real life, because that's a fantasy answer. That argument is irrelevant. It's rubbish. Yeah, we do not agree with your arguments. Okay, so you can use these useful phrases to help you rebutyour arguments. So today's topic, we're going to use today's topic to rebutbut. We need to think about our topic today, which is in the current technological generation, school should use eBook. So we're talking here about we should use things like that are on your laptop or on your phone or on your iPad or on your like kindles. We're talking about e textbooks. Or would it be better to have proper textbooks, still books? Yeah. And that's what we're arguing today. Should schools now go to eBooks? Should we be electronics? Yes, momo or paper books? Yes. Me. What what is a textbook? So a textbook is like a book you work in. So like a maths book or an English book. Yeah. So it's going to think do we I'm going to give you an example book. I'm gonna to come on. I've got to go through tomorrow. Mine I've got to get my school bag guys just gonna to get my school bag out. Like I've got to go school today guys. I've got to take all my textbooks with me. So I've got to go. I've got maths today, I've got English, I've got chemistry, I've got Oh, I've got I've got science. Okay, I've got science, I've got art, I've got art as well. I've got art taken or I'm also going to do biology today as well. So I'm going get my biology book out, okay. Well, I also love, do you know what? I've also got p. I've got p. I've got I've got I've got ari as well okay I've missed the subject Oh No I'm going got one more lesson today but to do which is I've got to go and do music music lesson as well okay right ready for school guys it's gonna to get all these into school okay Anne what is the problem with paper textbooks? The paper textbooks are when when you like. Sometimes. What's wrong with the man? What's wrong with paper textbooks? I'll give you a big clue, George. You're waving at me. Go on, George. What's wrong with these paper textbooks? Books, if you if you take them itwill be too heavy and. It takes I know like iPad like technology stuffs are better because you can you only need to take one end you can search on it you gonna need to take a lot of them like textbooks alright. So I can I can put these down then George I wouldn't need to take all these books of Meri can leave these at home off you they're really everything so I could just take this instead, me being into school. So I could just take this instead. Thatbe, nice for it. Just one item. Oh, okay. That's much better than all those books I've just picked up. And yes, moo moo. I think paper textbook will hurt people like paper. Oh well, there's lots of paper. Isn't there so much paper in a textbook? Yeah and lots of paper that were perhaps wasting here as well. And what else could be wrong with these textbooks? This textbook will be very happy. Heavy, aren't they? They're super heavy. And what do you think? Want to hear what Anne thinks. And Georgia mumic, fantastic work. What do you think? I think that if the textbooks first they are having and if you didn't forgot to bring some books, you no the class. You won't. You can't have the class. And if you take the iPad, you can just take the iPad and you can search for the lessons. Mm, I can forget my textbook, can't I? So that can be a big problem. Oh no, I've left my max at home. It's okay there because I've got my iPad, so this is really, really okay. However, what's perhaps the good things about textbooks? Why is having a textbook maybe better than having an e textbook? Yes. Because if you look at the iPad, it hurts your eyes. If you look it along a little time is okay. But you if you look at the iPad a whole class 40 minutes, then your eyes can. Your eyes will be bad. And if you look at a book, they are not too bad than I. Pad, okay, so this, there are things, there are drawbacks to that. Yeah, well done. And what's perhaps the other problem I've got with an e textbook? I'm in my lesson. I've pulled up my e textbook and the teacher's teaching. I've got the Internet. What could I be doing instead? Moo? Because that when you push your book, and it will be very that you need to push this book, you need to put that book, and you just couldn't stop and very busy. Yeah could be too busy. But what else could I be doing on my laptop of my iPad in class? I'm on the Internet. I'm supposed to be on my textbook, but what else could I be doing? Yes George, same games I could be playing a game. Okay, so that's going to be a bit of a problem, isn't it? That's gonna to be quite a distraction for people in in class. So isn't that doesn't that mean that maybe paper books are better than if I'm going to end up playing games on my e textbook? Is it better that I stick with paper perbooks then? What do you think no, no, why do you think no or why do you think yes? What do we think? What do you think, George and mumu, what do you think? Do we think that having the Internet, having our iPad could be distracting? Yeah. So what do you think? Do you think then? Okay, well, let's not do e textbooks, let's say to paperbooks. Or do you think there is there's a way of solving that problem? What do we think we could be playing games? How do I stop that, George? Or can I not stop that? Would it be better? I just have paper books. Yes. Annn, I think that you you can ask your mom to like stop the games. And if you go to school, you only can use the use the school. So we could stop all all of those games being on there. Okay? So that could be a good idea, couldn't it? Yeah. So we could only do the textbooks on. This is only any text reader. What do you think, Mommo? Do you think this is a big problem, that you could be reading another book? You could be deciding in science to do maths homework instead of actually learning what you need to learn? Do we not think that maybe a paper book would be better? Does this safer than having an eBook? Because that is. Sometimes one is like it's Chinese class and you see the book than. The teacher number one is the teacher will. The teacher will angry with you. And number two is and if this is Chinese class and you couldn't learn the Chinese Chinese stuff and you didn't learn math stuff too, so that is you you all, you couldn't learn this and you couldn't learn that. So you'll be you'll be a bad student if you always this way, right? That's a good point, isn't it? Yes, George. What do you think, George? I got I'm say, Oh, that's okay. So I want us to think, right? Yes, okay, this is great. Okay, I can just take this to school. I don't have to take all my hundreds of books to school, right? So it's less heavy and I've got all of my textbooks on here so I can't forget a textbook now everything's on here, but we can get distracted. We could be doing matths homework rather than listening in our science class, which mumi says will get us into trouble, right? Also, can I make the same easy notes on on this laptop than I can? Are my textbooks easier to make notes on, or is the eBook just as easy? Now, which one's better to make my notes on? What do you think? Do you think of e textbook? Or do you think of paper textbook? Which one's easier to make notes on? Well, do you think, Anne, do you think an e textbook or do you think a paper textbook? Which one's easier to make notes on? I think they're both easy. Oh, they're both easy to make notes on. Okay. What do you think, George? Which one do you find easier? Both as well. What about you mean me? Both as well. So both can make notes. So maybe that's not an argument for either of them. Okay, George, which one do you find easier to learn of? Do you prefer an e textbook or do you prefer a paperbook? Some people like to see how much they've learned, for example. Or do you like an e book? Which one do you prefer? Okay, you prefer a text and why do you prefer a textbook? Not eat textbook. Okay, why did you prefer an e textbook? Because if. Get if you. A normal textbooks, a book, might you might get paper cut from it. Yeah so actually could injure yourself with a paper perbook absolutely. And what is also the problem with paperbooks? Let's think about wasting paper. And do you think it would be better for climate change if we just stop printing these. Yeah, I think that it will. If you use the iPad, you can use your, you can use the, you can use with the hand to write it. And when you go, if you didn't bring the pencil, you can write it. And if you, if you lost that book, you have no notes. And if you have iPad, you can keep it. You can lose all the notes, can't you? You lose that textbook, you've lost everything. Yeah but what if I break the textbook though? Moo? What if I drop my textbook? I drop my tablet. Am I gonna lose everything then? If I break, you don't know what what does anyone think? If if I break the eBook, if I, if I break my iPad or I break my laptop, does that mean that all my textbooks have gone? No No Okay, why why no mumi? Cause that. Break a book, but you can just can see some of your students. Your your friend, your friend and will be a day and your others didn't. 呃,grow so you can just see others and this book you can just. Yeah, you heard Hey, so we could we could put it on another e textbook maybe. Okay, well done. Excellent ideas. So some other thoughts for us to think about the today's debate. Okay, we've talked about this. What do we do with those textbooks after you've moved on? Okay, so I think that's a good idea. Well, you do. Yeah, you know you do. All these years you have these textbooks and then where do you put them? You just give them away. You don't wait. So let's also look at some others. I agree, the weight of paper books is too heavy. Yeah, much more better, isn't it? If I can take an eBook, students, it will be easier to locate certain information you can search. It can't you know or just find that information for you. And e textbooks don't use paper, which is eco friendly. However, e textbooks can become unavailable when there's no Internet collection or it's out of battery. So if you don't charge it, then you can't read it. That could be a problem in class. Oh no, miss, I've forgotten to charge my battery again. Can't do the textbooks. That could be a problem. You could be distracted by other things on the tablet and an e textbook might need you to be a subscription, might need you to pay something every year, which some people can't afford. Okay. And also our eyesight as well. So things to consider on each side of this debate today. Okay, let's get ourselves ready for today's debate and I'm going to come to you first. And do you agree with today's motion or do you disagree with today's motion? Agree. You agree with today's motion. Okay. And was going over here on the agreto. How, George, do you agree with today's motion or do you disagree with today's motion? Me, you agree as well. Okay. I'll put all over here. Mommo, do you agree with today's motion? Or do you disagree with today's motion? You amazing. Guys, that's okay, right? Wonderful. You're going to do the thing and I'm going to be over here rebutling, right? It means we can have speaker one, speaker two, speaker three. Yes, me, I disagree. You want to disagree? You want to come and disagree with me, okay? Right? Come on and mumo, you can come with me, right? So me and muo are gonna be over on the disagree too. Anne and George are gonna be on the agree team. The biggest part of today is listening to others arguments and rebutling them. Okay, so annn and George, who would like to be the first speaker? I would like to be first patient. Your hand was at first, and you may be first speaker. So and you will prepare your speech. Yeah, you will make sure that you have your speech ready. George is the second speaker. You will make notes. And you, George, will be rebutattling either me or mume mumu. Would you like to be the first speaker or the second speaker on our team? First, first, George will be rebattling, you and I will be rebattling George. Hey, okay, wonderful, George and Anne, would you like some time to have a chat about what each of you were going to talk about? Yeah, okay, let's put them into another room. All right, we're going have ten minutes, okay, to get our debates ready. All right, Samui, you're stain here with me. Okay, Alan George, we'll put them over there, right? Mimi, I'm just going to go check on them and put a timer on in the menu. Will chat, I promise. Okay, hello, fellow debaters. Right? We can take this away from you. Kbecause. You don't need that one at talk. So let's put this up. Let's put our notes up here for you. Okay, so there's some notes there for you. Let's put the timer on. Yes, I think we definitely can do about ten minutes. You can have ten minutes on the dot that hard. Okay. So for you and in particular, Yeah. Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Madam Chair, although we don't know how we're going to do chair today, but we'll figure that out. And worthy opponents today we are debating, I think, in my opinion, Yeah firstly, secondly. Thirdly, for example, can go in there as well. Yeah and then make sure and we know you finished in conclusion and then George, you're going to be using things like speaker mumu said. We disagree because we also think, for example, or you can say firstly, secondly, for example. And in conclusion, okay. So that's what you're going to be using, George. This is what you're going to be using. Now that makes sense. Okay? Talk to each other. Make sure you're not going to talk about the same points. Okay? I'll be back. What you doing? We do me can give me the pen I can give me I can I can give you the pen okay mumi right let's get into what kind of things are you gonna talk about mumi because remember we want you're gonna be first speaker so you need to prepare your sort of speech here so hello ladies and gentlemen teacher I want to read the this and this okay we need to put these into your own words mumi that's absolutely sleep brso hello ladies and gentlemen Madam Chair and do see opponents mimo opponents. Well done much better upon okay today we disagree with the motion and what do we disagree with the motion? Let's get the motion up shall we? What do we disagree with with this motion? We disagree with the motion that yes teacher that later if I was in the race and can you give me you can have all of this maybe absolutely we're making this speech for you now. So hello, ladies and gentlemen, Madam Chair, and were thy opponents today we discuss, today we disagree with the motion. Then the current technological generation school should use e textbooks rather than paperbooks. Okay. Firstly, what do you want to talk about first? Mumu, firstly, because textbook is okay. So we need to change this like we can't just read this out. Momu, Yeah, because it's not with not ready for a speech. So firstly, because when e textbooks. Are unavailable. What happens? I want you to put it in your own words, mumo. I don't want you just to copy off that board. What can you say? So firstly, because when e took to e textbooks are unavailable, what happens? Momi, I don't know. Well, read that, momo, and think about how can you put it in your own words? Connecisn't out of battery and student might lose all their notes if they let table all their notes and can't get on to the Internet to read the textbook. Okay. So something that we've got to change, but you're debating, you can't just take this, you can't just read that out. It's not to you haven't written in a speech then Yeah, you're just reading notes. We want to put it into full sentences. Okay, right. Maybe what's going to be your second point? Secondly. Second point is this, okay, so I want you to make a sentence, a full sentence, momwe're not just going to write, read those notes. So secondly. Students might meet. Full sentence, Mimi. So secondly, students might need to bye. I don't to know what does it say here? Mumo, you got to you. What you can't do mumu, is we can't just say, firstly, eBooks isn't available because this isn't this isn't correct. Yeah, as in it's not in full sentences. You want to use this information to make a full sentence. So you can use what's written here, but you need to put it into your words. You can't just read off the book. You do know momu because you pick these out. So we're not using this pen sensibly. We're gonna take the pen away. Okay, so mou, what does it say? What what happens if students don't have a subscription? What will happen? Secondly, students might need to buy a subscription. And why is this bad? Not all students will be able to forward a Internet or tablet to afford. Yes, the Internet, well done. Maybe much better. Or the iPad, okay. For example, for example, can you give me? No, for example, I don't know. What example could you give? So if someone didn't have an iPad, what would that mean for them? If they couldn't afford an iPad, what does that mean for that student? Does it mean that they won't be able to study? Does it mean that theybe behind? Does it mean their teacher would be angry at them? Which one? For example, if a student couldn't afford an iPad, what would happen? Teacher, give me the pen, please. No mumu, we're not using the pen sensibly, so we don't have the pen. So for example, if a student couldn't afford an iPad, what would happen to them if everything was e textbook and they couldn't get an iPad, what does that mean for the student? Does? It mean the teacher would be angry? Does it mean that they would be behind on their studies? Okay. So fallover the teacher balloons there, maybe a paic iPad, the teacher might be angry as they can't do their work. Okay. Finally, what's our last point momu? I think it's number four might be e books might do more harm to student. I say, why is that? Why would it cause them harm in their eyesight? Because looking at the events will be very looyour eye and. Need you to use your eyes and then they could hurt your eyes wise. Yeah could be painful couldn't there? Quite wise. Well done. And then you can say in conclusion conclusion we think that disagree Yeah we think that we should keep paper books that's much stronger move Yeah. Well done mou. You've got it right. I'm just gonna go and check on the others. I'll be back in 2s. Oh what minute? How are we doing? Do we feel like we've got everything we need? Yes, I will. I say the blue part, and George will say the part. Would you like me to take a screenshot of this and bring it over over with us? Yeah should I bring this over? Okay, I'll take all this over with us. Why I came. I'm take this over back acking 2s of bring into the room. Okay, moving on. Just bringing all that stuff over as well. Then we go, you give me teacher. I know momu, but you're not going first. They also need their stuff as well. Okay, I know what you need, mumu, so just have to be a bit patient with it. Okay, right here we go where everybody's bag in the room. Hello hello hello hello. Right, let's put ourselves into teams shall we? So we have an e who's gonna be opening our debate today and all your stuff is on here for you and n okay, then we're gonna to have momu opening the debate for the negative team over here. Sorry, we are yenegative team over here. Then we're gonna to be having George, who's going to be our second speaker for the affirmative team. I have somehow managed to hide and here there we go and George will be our second speaker for the negative team, rebutling mumu. And then we will also have me rebutling George today on the negative team. Okay, each person has two minutes and 30s. Any time you don't use will be used for questions at the end. Okay, right. Anne, are you ready? Yes, okay. Welcome to today's debate on in the current technological generation, schools should use e textbooks rather than paper books. We have speaker annn and speaker George on our affirmative team. Speaker muu and speaker Lisa on the negative team. Each speaker will have two minutes and 30s to address the room. Speaker Anne on the affirmative team, your time starts now. Well, dies and gentlemen make chair penis today, where the Beijing school should use itbooks rather than paper books. I think that school should use eobooks rather than paper books. Firstly that if you take the paper books, they're very heavy and when you learned a year, the books you won't have and you need to put a book somewhere and it needs a lot of place. Secondly, teachers know your secondly, the if you, if I think that the the iPad is more it's more can write on the paper book because the iPad you can use your hand to write it and if you use the paper book you need to use the pencil and if you didn't bring the pencil you can't write it and and if your if your paper books they're lost your notes will be like your notes won't be you can't find it and if you are on the iPad you can find it. For example you didn't bring your English book you just can't write the English note. So in conclusion, I think that school should use eof books rather than paper books. Thank you very much. Speak okay, speak up you your time to rebustle begins now. Lady and gentlemen, medchair and worse options today we disagree with the motion that it als technology began with generation should be generation do is a textbooks reader than paper. Firstly, because when textbooks are unable, the student might lose all their jobs. Oh, there a note and can't get onto the Internet to read a textbook. Secondly, student might need to buy tions. And this is not good because it's not all student will be able to follow the Internet or the left tai pad. For example, if the student couldn't forward a pad, the teacher might be angry and they can't do their homework. Finally, a books might do more harm to students. I like, because looking at the eBooks will need you to use your eyes, and they could hurt eyes. In conclusion, we think that we should keep paper books budget. Well done. Okay. Our next speaker is George. Okay, George, your time starts. Speaker mou said e textbooks might do harm to students eyesize but if you rest for every ten minutes, it won't hurt your eyesight and. We disagree because speaker no a texbook are. Huh? The textbooks are heavy and it's a waste of paper. We also think that you may be reading a different. Textbook, which is not good. Firstly. Study will be easier to locate a certain information in e textbook, and it could be. Oh biisable comcompromised or an e reader. For example, you'll get a paper no. No, you will get a paper cut from a textbook. In conclusion, in conclusion, we think that. In school, we should use textbooks rather than paper books, because. It will be hard to Carry other books. Thank you, speaker George. Well done, speaker George. Okay. And Oh, hang on, a gone Dogo. Hey, okay. Now we have a speaker Lisa on the negative, a team. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I would first of all like to address the third point that speaker George made about paper cuts. While we acknowledge that paper can be dangerous and cause a paper cut, I do believe that this is so few and far between that it is unlikely this would be the reason to change to eat textbook. While we also acknowledge that it may be easier and customizable to find information on our iPads, simply, there is not enough to stop students being distracted on our textbooks for schools to do this fully. E textbooks cost a huge amount of money, and not all students can afford an iPad, a laptop or a phone to do their studying on. Equally, we need Internet or electricity. If the battery is empty, an e textbook would work, and a paperbook is something you'll have to get instead. Secondly, paper books are better for our eyes. Looking at screens for a long time can hurt them, give us headaches. Children already use phones and tablets outside of school. Is eBooks too far? Thirdly, paperbooks help students focus. Tablets have games, or they have the Internet, or they can watch videos, or they could be doing a completely different subject on their textbook, the paperbook. We know what they're learning, when they're learning it, and how they're learning it. Finally, not all students can buy laptops or tablets. Paperbooks are fair for everyone. All students can use them. In conclusion, paperbooks are simple, healthy and fair. Schools should not replace paper books with eBooks. Thank you. Okay, I'm gonna gonna to open the floor to any four questions. Okay, any questions for our opponents? Okay, I have a question. My question is going to speaker Ann first. Speaker annn, you talked about the fact of the weight of these books, how they were heavy, but we don't need to take all the books into school and could use lockers. Do you not think that this is an easier option than getting an eBook? No, and if it is a close to the past, sometimes there were some classes that you have to you today you didn't have the class, but now you have the class because the teacher has no time today. So if you didn't bring the book, you can't you can't learn that class. Okay. Thank you very much, speaker annn and speaker George. You talked about this idea of being able to custom the e reader and find information quickly within the e reader. But isn't some of our studying about making sure we know where we need to find things in the book? Wouldn't an e reader make that too easy for us? No, because if you if you don't know how to read, and it will be helpful and. And. And why, George, can you give us a little bit more on why you think it would be helpful? Why will it help students? Like I do rice kids all the time and it has a place so you can you can do evening reading and read by yourself. So if you get erreading and read by yourself, Yeah you will get double practice of reading. Okay, mean, that's a good point, George. That's a good point. No, don't back down on your point. It's a good point, George. Yeah and. And when I'm doing basthere's a word where you can do questions, I need to know the book very well to answer the questions. Very well done tithank you very much speaker George. Very, very well done guys. Okay, let's before I tell us the winner, I'm just gonna go through very quick feedback and much nicer address and I can see you prepared that speech. Okay, you really thought about what you gonna talk about. You gave me an example and your next thing is expert opinion. If you can put it in there, research these topics before class. Is there an expert that you can use a scientist or teacher or someone's quote that they've said? And it was much stronger today though. Okay, you're making some really lovely speeches. Well done moo moo. We talked about this when we were practicing. Much better to write your full speech out. Make sure you're not just reading off these bullet points. That is not a speech. We want you to put them into full sentences. Mumu, though it was clear it was concise. A word for, you know. Mmu, it's not a opinion, a onents, can you try that? Mmu, opponents, much better. Yes. So Mimi, nice address. You used all these examples as well, which was really lovely to see. George, fantastic opening. You took something muommu has said, and you were able to rebuttle her very, very nicely. And then again, you were able to give me more than one reason for your debate. George, for you, I think it's just gonna to help to make the flow. Make sure you've got those notes to hand Yeah that you've got those notes written out in full sentences for you. Those will help. Yeah so you don't feel like so you can make sure you know what you're gonna say first, what you're gonna to say second, what you're gonna say third. Okay, George, and that will help the flow of your debate. Yeah does that make sense George? Yes, perfect. George, your word to try customize. Can you try that word for me? Customize. Customize. Perfect. Well done. Yeah really nice work though. And again, it's getting stronger to have some confidence. You stop yourself speaking sometimes. George ordan, you don't need to. You're brilliant. Okay, today's winner up to be where's angone and how are you going to know who's won if you've disappeared? What's e's moving on? Hey, day's debate has been one. Bye. And George, well, then you too, a fantastic argument. You answered all these questions beautifully as well. Okay, something for all three of you for next week. A challenge for next week. I want you all to ask a question in the rebuttal sections. Everyone will need to ask a question when I open the floor. Okay? So show that you're listening to each other, right? High five mimu, high five. Judge half a. Then next week should look what we're going to do next week, next week's debate. Children should be banned earning money from their schoolmates. I've a research on this. Have one week. I'm gonna to give you a pens you can scribble away if you want to. You are amazing and I will see you next time. Oh, Merry Christmas from me to you itbe Christmas next week. So I won't be here but merry, Merry Christmas. I hope you have a wonderful day if you're doing anything. Bye all. Bye happy script.
