Hi, Molly. Hello. No. Are you good? Yes, I'm very good. Cute. I'm not too bad. Thank you. I'm getting ready for Christmas money. That's my day today. Getting ready for our Christmas holiday. Do you celebrate Christmas money? Yes, I love having. Oh, are you excited then? You excited for next week? Yes, what have you asked Santa for? What present are you hoping? Because when I am sleeping, I get up and look at my present. I felt so surprised. How does he do it? Do you know what I mean? How does he do it? Well, welcome money. Welcome money. Hi, Angel. How are you? You're good. You look very warm. You look very warm, Angel. You look all snug in your coat. Have you had a good day? Yes. That's and are you excited for Christmas? Yeah, that's good for you. I'm glad everyone, have you got trees? Have you got a Christmas tree? Yeah, have you, I, I have a Christmas tree. I also have my little, my little gnome, my little Christmas known with me today long. It's very fun to hear this bit. Where's its eyes? Well, welcome, Ingis. So nice to have you with us. Harsee you okay? And if Alex is there, this camera's off. Who's usually there? Hi Alex. Can you hear us? Oh, I don't know if you've got some Internet well, but once you come in, Alex, we'll we'll say hello. What Molly and Angel, have you have you ever debated before? Have you debated? No, never debate it when you will. By the end of today's class, absolutely you'll have debated. So do you know what happens in a debate? Well, I better tell you then. Hai, so we have an agree team. Okay let me take this board down for a second so we're gonna to be left looking at that video with that man in a minute right? So gonna to see Molly I'm gonna pop you here and I' M Angel, I'm gonna to pop you over here and I'm gonna come down so I'm going to come in the middle here. Hello so what happens in a debate? Okay we have an agree team, an affirmative team as it's sometimes called, okay, agree or affirmative. And that means someone that thinks, yes, we should do this. So if the motion is ban plastic bags, the agree team, which is modeling right now, will say, yes, let's ban plastic bags. And you would give all of your reasons for why we should ban them. Okay? So yougive all these reasons, God just say, yes, I agree. That's not debating. That would just be yes, I agree. And then Angel could be on the disagree team or the negative team, as it's called, okay? And then Angel say, normally I don't agree with your reasons, you're wrong because, okay. And then Angel would say, why she doesn't agree with you and me? Here I am, the chair. And the chair, make sure that everybody has enough time that you don't run over time, that everybody gets a chance to speak, okay? And I am also the judge who gets to decide which side wins. Okay? Is it the agree team today or the negativity? All right. Now, something to say though. Never, ever, ever worry if your debate doesn't win in the class. Sometimes some debates are just that that team's going to win because it's kind of the most logical. It's going to be the best one for the answer today. So don't worry if you're thinking, Oh, I didn't win that debate. It's okay. There's lots of debate that you will win, okay? But also Yeah sometimes just the agree teams argument is just easier than the negative teams argument. Still means you'll have done a very, very, very good job, okay? And what we'll do is we'll chat, we'll discuss, we'll think about ideas and then we're going to put you under teams and you'll have a go at debating. Yeah, I'm gonna to give you some things to help you as well. I'll give you lots of writing so I know it's very exciting Willie and as I say, if I ever say thank you very much, that's your time up does not mean you do anything think bad, just means your time is up. Okay and we're gonna have a little bit of fun. Hopefully Alex is gonna to join us as well. If anything you don't know Molly and Angel, just put your hand up and let me know. Okay? And I'll explain it all but have some fun. Yeah, that's all we're here to do is to have some fun. Debbeating, yes. Angel, do have a question. Were you just stretching? You were just stretching. That's okay, Alex. I'm just gonna check if you we can't hear you. If you can hear us. So we can't see you and we can't hear you. But if you can hear us, hopefully you can you can hear that. We can't hear you. I'll pop it on the board as well, Alex, just so that if you need to pop in and out again, so we can't hear or see you, Alex, but we need to think we're ignoring you. We're really not. As soon as we see you, Alex, we'll grab you into the lesson, right? Molly Angel, today we're looking at the third speaker. Oh, Alex rapion are always trying. I think this something. Go on. And so Molly Angel, because Alex will already know this, so we have in a debate usually three people on each side. So we usually have a first speaker, a second speaker and a third speaker. Okay? And they're on both sides. So one for the agree team and one for the discreting. Yeah. So what would happen is your first speaker on the so let's take the agree team. So the first speaker on the agree team would define the motion tions. They tell us what the motion is today. They prepare a speech about what they want to happen, where they want to ban something or they want to change something or stop homework. The second speaker rebuttalles the first negative speaker up, okay, and makes another point. And then the third speaker, okay, repeats the ideas of the first and second speaker and makes a conclusion, makes a final point, okay? And it's the same over on the negative team. So if you're on the negative team, the first speaker will rebuttle so that say no, your argumenwrong will rebutthe first agree speaker. Oh, Alex, are you there? We still can't hear you, Alex, I'm afraid. Second, speak on the negative team. Rebattles the second agree team speaker. We can see you waving, Alex, but we can't hear you or see you. And then third speaker on the negative team. Again, rebuttle the third speaker on the agree team and makes a final conclusion. Okay, so today we're looking a little bit more into the third speaker because everybody's got their role, okay? And it's usually the last person to speak in your team. So they're a very important role because they could be the last chance to say something exciting. Yay. Hi, Alex. Okay, you're in. You okay today, Alex? We're just going through some of the debating stuff with Molly and Angel as they're joining us today. Okay. I'm have a good day. Go on, Alex. Oh, back in, back out. Yes, Alex, it's I know because I can hear you could hear us. Brilliant. We just couldn't hear you. Bless you. You could hear us but we're good. Hear you right Alex? We're talking about third speaker today. Yeah, we're talking about this conclusion. Remember there are judges. How are you as the third speaker gonna to make sure the judge remembers you? Okay, remembers what you're gonna to be doing? So your main duties, repeat what the team thinks rebuttle. So make an argument against what someone else has said. We want to think about some starter sentences. Yeah, I'm going to summarize in conclusion. Yeah, firstly, I want to say the other team said this and I do not agree at all. Yeah, so we want to make it clear because it's the last thing that's gonna to be said in your team before questions or before someone makes a decision. So you wanto attack the team's argument. Yeah, Angel, your point was good. However, I don't agree. Yeah, Alex, you made a point about this, but you're wrong. So that's all we can do when we're attacking or defend it. Yeah, our team believe, we strongly believe that getting rid of plastic bags will save the environment. Keep telling us, because Yeah, it's harming our willike. It's making our oceans awful and mucky. So we're going to think about homework should be banned. So the first speaker said, students will be stressed having too much homework. The second speaker said students have less time to do exercise or other hobbies. So Alex, how would you rebuttle this? How is the third speaker on the negative team? Would you rebuttle these arguments? Say let's start commenagain. Okay, brilliant. So can you rebuttle this for us, Alex? So the first speaker step, I agree. Can you say it again first? Of course I can. So if I've said to you, students will be stressed having too much homework, how will you rebuttle me on a no argument todo you have a copbook can help you remember. And if you don't put homework, then sometimes you don't know teachthem no unit or don't know it. And first, if you didn't do too much homework, when human beastressed out, so a little less homework. Well done. So the only thing that we needed in their act, the first speaker said, students will be stressed having too much homework. I don't agree, because homework can help us remember and teachers know what is going on. Yeah, beautiful world. Done, Alex. Okay, volly, what could you say to speaker two? So speaker two, it said students have less time to do exercise or other hobbies. How could you rebutme, how could you say, I don't agree with that. I don't agree because homework can help us remember something you don't know, and you can refill and rethat thing you don't know. Oh, done yeke practice new. Yeah. So again, moyou can say the second speaker or the first speaker said, it will be stressful, however, but don't agree because, and then give you answer like you just did. That's perfect. Mowell done excellent job. Your first field debate. Look at that. Okay, Angel, what could you say to say? No, I don't agree with this. No. And why? Why, Angel, why can we say no? I don't agree because. Because. We. Don't read the book. Well, not smart. Oh, we won't be smart. Won't be intelligent, would we? Angel, no, that's a very good point. Well done. Yes. Excellent. Yeah. If we don't do home, if we ban homework and they won't be smart. Won't be intelligent. Yeah. Oh, fantastic. Okay, we have started. Welcome to our debating club, Molly and Angel. So reinforce. Yeah. Make sure you don't copy someone else's argument. Don't say what they say word for word if you're reinforcing, if you're repeating what speaker one or speaker said or two said in your team, that is fine. At my fellow competitor, my fellow teammate said this and I also agree because it's fine, but don't copy what that teammate said. Yeah, we want your own words whenever you're okay. So we can use examples, we can use reasons, and we can use something that someone else said and say, I disagree. Yeah remember, it's teamwork. Yeah did us do all on your own. It's being in a demem and you want to make sure that you can work as a team. If someone's forgotten something in your team, you've realized they've not mentioned it. You could do it as the third speaker. You could think our team have forgotten to talk about this. It's very important. So the third speaker is a big, big role. Okay, so we're going to practice all of this today. We're going to do our debate on we should ban cars from city center as well. Before we have a little look at this, before I hear your point of view, I have a little video. And this is teachers in England, in London, talking about whether they think it's a good idea or a bad idea. Maybe you have a listen. Do you agree? You disagree? Yeah. So let's have a little Molly, Angel and Alex. Here we go. We now live in a world where cars are everywhere, more people are driving than ever before, and the number of cars in our city roads is at an all time high. Many people believe bancars in cities may help combat the rising pollution levels and make cities less congested. However, many view cars as an essential mode of transport and think that current public transport may not be able to cope with so many people. We wanted to find out what people thought, so we asked teachers, should cars be banned in large cities? I do think it's a good idea because it will already reduce pollution, but I think it's important that there is very effective public transport systems in place to make sure people can get around obyour cities, a hub of activity, and lots of business goes on. So I think it's really important people can get around easily as well. I do think it's a good idea, because I found out in the holidays that a road de near my house is the most polluted street in London, and it's bad for my lungs. Yes, I just think it's impractical. I think pollution is a bad thing in the world, and it's getting worse and worse. And we are slowly losing our planet to pollution. However, we have too many cars on the street now, so it would be very difficult to get rid of all the cars, so maybe just get rid of them on the weekend. I don't think it's a good idea to bcfrom United city, because without my car, I'll be forced to use public transport, and I find it very unreliable and very crowded. I think it's a terrific idea. I would love to see cars band Ned in large cities just because of the amount pollution that they cause. The noise as well, I think, is a big issue. So Yeah, I would love to see it. And I think it's cuable definitely if we all work together, it's tricky in an ideal world, yes, but I can see how difficult that stanvery. And I would like to see not just pollution, but I also think we are a nation yet more and more unfit. So I'd like to see people riding bikes, me, and just being more induent. Yes, I do. Yes. Why? I think cars in ccreate a lot of pollution. I also think that with the amount of people that are in the cities and the pedestrians, it also creates a bit of a hazard with them, with people wanting to cross the road and not necessarily looking where they're going. So I think it would be a good idea to get rid of cars and cities is a good idea. I think it could be a good idea because it might reduce pollution. And I think it's been a big problem in London at the moment where let's keep having bad asthma and things because the air pollution has been so terrible. I've had a problem. Breai can smell the pollution. I can smell the petrol in my very front room, and I'm sat there. So Yeah, I think it could be a good idea. But there's other things you could do. You could come up with using more electric cars, maybe things that don't give up lots of poisonous fumes. That would be a good idea, I think. So not banning cars completely, but thinking of an alternative type of car, alternative fuels, that's what I'm for. I do. Oh, I think we should definitely ban cars. I think the amount of people that are using cars unnecessarily for short journeys, it just adds to the pollution. And it's really, really dangerous for all of our health. It's getting worse and worse and not better. The government has tried to do lots of different things to kind of try and reduce the traffic in London. And unfortunately, it hasn't really worked in the last five years. In the last ten years, we've had a congestion charge without all kinds of things, lots of different schemes. People have been tried to be encouraged to ride bikes to work, and it hasn't really worked. And I think that actually, at the end of the day, to get the pollution levels significantly down, you just need something quite drastic. And that's going to come from taking those vehicles off the road. Could be a brilliant idea, because nourishing to Hatford is one of the most polluted roads in the whole of London. And all those fumes are interfering and polluting Young children's lands, particularly this school, so often think itbe a great idea. Okay, that was a bbc report that was all about what the teachers thought, but now I want to hear what you think. So Molly, what do you think? Do you think they should be banned? Hmm, what do you think? I thank all the Scottish opponents and follow audience members that they firmly oppose that motions that we should bank hard from city centers. This poshow may seem well inficient tion pursuthe environmental protection and traffic keys, but ignores the practical crelities of all life and brings far more Harthan. Good. Let me present them four key reasons to support our status. Hey, Molly. Very, very well done. So what I want you to think, but this you've got speech ready, have new Molly, you've already prepared for our major debate, which is amazing. So what we're gonna do now money is we're just gonna before we do our debate, we're just gonna have a little chat. So I'm gonna take a little bit of what you've just given me there. So you think it's not practical to get rid of the cars and why do you think it's not practical? Hmm, why do you think it would be difficult to get rid of them? The difficult day is. The car if they got. If they got something, trouble with something, it may just have an accident. And there's be, well done. We could be A A problem. There could be an emergency. And I've banned all cards. That could be a problem for people, right? Because there was problem, every problem therebe so much. Gia proi could be late for school. I could be late for work. I could have an accident. And I can't use my car in a large city. That could be a major issue. Well done, monthank you for kicking us off. Okay? And I'm so pleased to hear that you have your speech ready for bed. Alex, what do you think? Could you agree with Molly? Do you think it's not a practical solution? Or do you think, no, we do need to ban these cars on the road? You're on mute, Alex. We can't hear you, Alex. Put you have mic on Alex there we go. Right corner. Alex, tell it. I agree with momi. Don't think it's called ban or cars. Sometimes you need cgo around and it's faster but there is a lot of pollution coming from cars. So we can use more electric cars and maybe stop using cars for short journeys. So there would be so much persion. Oh, okay, so as you're proposing, let's not ban it. Let's not get rid of them, but let's change the cars. Let's make them electric cars instead. So Alex, do you think we should ban fuel cars? Do you think we should ban petrol cars? Let me for a moment minute. Sometimes it might be a tumor of problem, so it must might be too hard to bend it. Also, I think they can limit them but say stop making food cards, then it very reverse food cards and stop using them for short journeys when there will be vspel cars and vpollution. Okay, I think this is a good solution, isn't it? So you're saying let's talk banit when we're talking about Angel and Molly when we're talking about because Alex has done the lesson on banning motions. But when we're banning something, if I've said you we should ban, we have to think about this. Is there another solution? Do we really need to ban it or do we need to change it? And actually, Alex and Molly, what you're saying is maybe we don't need to ban it. Maybe we need to think about electric cars, stop using them for short journeys. Change the conversation. Yeah, because banning them quite difficult. It is a difficult job to do. Angel, what do you think? Do you agree with Alex and Molly? Or do you think, no, let's let's ban them. Let's make it a clean city? I agree to byou agree to bad. You're on the agree team. And Angel, why? Why do you think we should ban them? There are many people and cars in the city center. It will easily happen. Car accident and traffic jam. Oh yes, ffic jam cwill pollute air and too many cars. Noises will have an effect on people's life. All of these are harmful for people. Angel, this is a good point. Let's just take that point for a moment, Angel, right. Okay. So Molly and Alex, now we've got a debate, right? Because what you're just saying is correct. We can have accidents, we can have pollution, traffic. Traffic is very bad in city centres, isn't it? But Molly, what would you say to that? Do you think banning is the solution? Or do you think actually there are other ways we could deal with traffic or other ways we could stop people having car accidents? Tigives it another solution, Molly? I think if there is some short journey, we can walk or ride bicycle or something. If you have a long journey, you could take a train or take an airport. Yeah or go by playing. Okay, I would say, actually, Molly, this this backs up angels point actually, I think maybe encouraging people to use different kinds of transport. Okay, some good ideas. Alex, what do you think? Do you think that actually okay, you know it would stop car accidents? Or do you think, no, like we still would have buses, we we still have emergencies westill have ambulances going through the city centre. Do you think it would stop an accident if we banned cars, Alex? You are mute. We can't hear you, Alex. I'm sure what you say is lovely, right? God, Alex. It's sometimes if it's interesting, you need to get one and you need cars. So I don't think we should ban it and PaaS. If journey is far, you can use a car, but it's not quite far to the plane. Plane can't quite stop there since it's too short of away, but a car can stop there and riding a bike takes too long and fast. Sometimes you need cars to get around fast when there's a real big emergency. Yeah and other things to think about, guys, is some people have to get to a remote part of a city. So for example, I live in a village to get into London. It's very expensive in Britain. Yeah it costs a lot of money on the train to get to London. And so driving a car is cheaper and it means that I can get to exactly where I need to get in London. To give you all an idea, if I take a train and I take a tube in London for one day, it will cost me sometimes up to 250 pounds. A lot of money. Yes, that's a lot of money, right? Yes. If I take the car and pay for parking, I could get to London for 35 pounds. It's a lot of money difference, isn't it? So how can I solve that problem if I banned cars? How could I make it easier for communities, for people to want to give their car up? This is a better option, isn't it? For me, the car is cheaper. The train is expensive. I'm not doing that every day. So I, how can I change this? How can I make it easier for people? Yes, Alex. Making it easier people, sometimes we can give more ways of traveling, right? You can stop. You can use cars when your journey pretty, then you won't need to use cars otherwise. And you can also use scooters. It's a best way to go around. Maybe not as fast as a car, but still fast. And it doesn't cost about money. That's a really good point, isn't it? Maybe we can have scooters. Maybe we can have little mopeads, maybe that don't just as much. Yes, I'll and us and we and a scooter isn't too expensive too. It's just a few filand. Then the car is like. 15000 or so. Yes, I mean, you're buexpensive. Would be 25, zero pounds to buy a car. Scooter might cost you a thousand. Yes, you could buy, you could buy yourself a little scooter. It's a really good point. Alex and Molly, what else could I do? How do I solve this problem? How do I solve the fact that the public transport is more expensive than my car? What can I do? What can I change? Is there something it might not be fast. Don't drive your car ars so fast. You might have a dangerous accdent or something. You just use the safety for the form. So we could lower the speed rather than banning cars, we could lower the speed maybe instead. So everyone has to go much slower. Oh, that's a good plan. That's a really good, that's a really good option. Angel. What else could we do? Train is gonna to cost me 250 cars, gonna to cost me 30. Go. How do I make the train a better option? What can I do to the train to make it a better option? We can. Have. A car and a car bag. We can put a bicycle icycle in the back of our car. Yes. And then maybe we could we could park further away from the city, but then cycle in. You can get electric bikes now, can't you? So you could go a bit farthis is a good situation. What if I made the transport cheaper? What if everybody stopped using their car and then we made trains and buses cheaper? Would that work? Do you think? Do you think that would make people travel more on the tube if I made it less expensive? What is telling someone to require so we could make it cheaper guys, we could make the train cheaper and then people wouldn't have to take their cars. Okay, lots of things to think about weldone all of you amazing life probably just debate right things to think about as well. Some other things I'm gonna to give you to think about today. So heavy traffic is dangerous. This is why we should burn it. Cars are noisy. Yeah we are so reliant on them, but become lazy. Yeah Oh, I'll just drive to this shop, and I'll just drive to this shop. Yeah whereas walking keeps us fit, keeps us healthy. Disagree though. Telling everyone they can't use a car is very difficult. Yeah especially when cars like Alex says, we can buy their big money. That means people won't buy it. City center, people who live in the city center won't buy cars. It's a lot of money the government is no longer getting for their cars. Okay? Long journeys, school, Yeah sometimes going a train or a bus doesn't stop at that school. So c's the only way to get there. There are better ways to protect the environment, like planting trees or building parks rather than just banning cars. There's lots of other things we could be doing. Okay? So we can think about all these ideas in our debate today. Are we gonna to put rito team smso? Let's get you. Molly. Are you agreeing or disagreeing with today's motion? We should bancast from city centres. Are you agreeing or are you disagreeing? Because if. I smell the pollution. I got coughand. I don't like to smell. Hey, amazing. So Molly, you're going on the affirmative, can run away from it. Okay, so you're going say, I agree we should ban cars. Okay, Angel, what are you thinking today? Are you thinking? I agree. I disagree. I agree. You agree. Oh, you and Molly are going go on a team. Uhere, Alex, are you agreeing or are you disagreeing with today's motion? I'm sort of on the middle. Okay. Me, let me choose or two and I will choose a mative team, the negative team. Okay, right. That's okay. Because I put it be me new on the negative team. Are we any on the negative? T cyonaics are going to go on the negative and Molly and Angel are gonna go on the afair titeam. Okay, right? So now Alex, I'm just gonna explain to Molly and Angel how how our debating works. Okay, so I'm gonna to give you a little bit of time. I know you've prepared debate. That's amazing, but maybe have a look. Is there anything else youlike to add? Yeah. Is there anything from our discussions youlike to add into your debate and practice it? Maybe turn your microphone off and practice your debate for a couple of minutes. Molly, you will go first. The firmative team first speaker, the agree team always goes first. So Molly, you will be our first speaker today. Then Alex will speak and rebuttle you. Okay? So he will make his arguments. And then once Alex is spoken, Angel, it will be you, okay? Once Angel is spoken, then it will be me. To round off the teokay. You will have two minutes on the clock on a timer all right? And once you've done your two minutes, I will ask you to stop speaking. It doesn't matter. Yeah if you finish it, we don't finish it. It's okay. All right? It's just part of our debating and it you'll build your time up and you'll also build and understand when to stop. Yeah so Molly, then Alex, then Angel, then me. Okay. And then we announce the winner. Now we will have a little we'll see who has won the debate. Today's bait at the end. Okay, but first I'm just going to give you three minutes because I know all of you have got Alex will have loads already prepared. Molly, I've already heard some of your stuff. Angel, I've already heard some of your stuff so I know we're sort of ready so just take a few minutes now anything else you would like to add? Yeah from our discussion so I'll put our discussion back up anything that you want to practice. Yeah just so that you can be really ready. All right. And I also need to get ready. Okay. And then we're gonna na start our debate. Does that sound all right? Are we ready? I'm think I'm going to Get End up with fireworks in a second. Yeah, amazing. All right. Three minutes to prepare starts now and then we're all gonna come together. Do feel free if you want to practice your debate at all. You are welcome to turn your camera, your microphoff. And you can have a little practice of your debate, if you would like to. Alex, I think, is going to do this little bit of practice. If you want to add anything into your debate. You can if youlike to look at any of these slides again, you can you've course, got your pens if you need it. And if you've got mums and dads in the background, do use them. Ask them questions. Maybe they can also help you add anything into your debate now. Yeah, absolutely. Get them involved. Maybe they have an expert opinion you can add into today's debate. 你帮我翻122,反正帮我翻一下个,我还给你翻这个是吗?你是第一个徒立是吗?呵呵呵。Ten two minutes. Got the thing. I'm trying to think, Alex, I'm trying to make sure that I'm not going to repeat anything you're going to talk about. I want to be a good teammate, Alex. I want to be a good teammate. What happened? What happened? Okay, but one minute everyone else seems very ready. It's me, maybe. Sure, I've got mine. Okay. What I'm also going to do, guys, is I'm just also going to pop onto the board these signposting as well. Okay, ladies and gentlemen. Madam Chair. And worthy opponents. Today's motion is we, the agree or disagree team, believe firstly. Secondly, for example. Incomplete. Okay, so Alex, that's there for you. If you've already prepared yours, Molly and Angel, don't worry at all. You don't have to follow that on the board. It's there. So that and we will talk about this a little bit more as well. Okay, right. Let's get on with our debate Molly you're gonna get first you're gonna open our debate up today and we're gonna leave all this up for us okay so that you can see everything if you want anything on this board so we have let's get our timer so let's say got two minutes on the clock okay? If you don't reach two minutes it does not matter okay? If you slightly go over for your first time, Molly, that's also okay as well. All, I'll let you finish your debate today. So derwe'll, just see how far it is because I don't know if you'll be able to reach that two minutes or not. So if you don't, don't worry. Okay. Well, welcome guys to our first debate as a team. We are debating the motion today that cars should be banned from city centers. On the agree team, we have speaker Molly and speaker Angel. On the negative team, we have speaker Alex and speaker Lisa. We will have a two minutes on our clock for our speakers. Okay, our furmative team goes first at speaker camoly. Your time starts now. Ladies and gentlemen, maam, today we're discussing about should we ban cars in the city? Well, I think many cars are White first, many cars will deal the fasting flow, the accountability of city centres, local businesses such as shops, restaurants and small retail stores with learn heavicustomers who drive to the city center. According to 2024 urban commonsurvive, 62% of shoppers in downtown areas arrive by car, especially those who purchase large items will shop with families. If cars ban, these customers will turn to serve and shopping malls instead, leading to an estimated 30 to 50% drop in revenue for downtown small businesses. Many of these businesses were even closed down, destroying the unique commercial ecosystem of the city center. Second, the spell observundermine the accessibility of city centers or forulnerable groups. The elderly, people with disabilities, and those with Young children or have luggage cannot relsolely or walking or public transport. For example, an elderly person with limited mobility who needs to visit downtown hospital, who and not shothe codies without the car. Public transport, where important, often fails were by the door to door convenience, that door the cars offer. And forcing these groups to adapt to a coffee city center is not inclusive, but. The model, you can say in conclusion, I think. So the conclusion, I think. As we should pan and you can just repeat the motion. The conclusion is I think we should buy cars, money. Yes, that's amazing. Well done. Fantastic. Well done. Myou. That was really wilyeah. Oh, that's it. Okay, Molly, you did amazing. No one would have known. Absolutely fantastic. Molly, work up loads of smiling faces for you, loads of hearts. And one thing for us, Molly, I want you to slow your speech down. You can slow down your speaking. Yeah, because you're nervous and that's okay, but slow it down. Yeah and that's a game. Moly. So you you deated we'll do some more feedback at the end, but well done, Molly. Fantastic. Okay, our negative speaker, Alex, is your microphone on and ready for your rebutttling? Alex, are you ready? Alex? Okay, negative speaker Alex, your time starts now. I believe that we shouldn't tcars because firstly, we need cars get around and sometimes we need to get around fast in emergencies and cars can get around fast. Thanks, kes. Can't get around, but we a bit slow and train ined and train ins coabout and we can just travel the distance. And sometimes if where you want to go, don't have a space, a train station, and it's too near to travel by plane, but too far to travel by bikes, you need to travel by cars. So I think cars shouldn't be banned. And plus. Carars are expensive to buy. And if you, if you do no longer use cand buy it, it's hard to do because other of people already have cars. So if you have they few cars load, then there won't be such solution. And. Cfor, no, no, no, no. If cwhen better, could be so many cars and you can swispeed. In conclusion, I think we shouldn't bancarvery, well done, Alex. Nice rebutttling. And again, as I said to you, everything that we be normally butttling is getting better and better. And actually, this use of cost in here. Alex, well done. Excellent job. Right, Angel, we're going back over to the affirmative side now. Okay, speaker Angel, are you ready? Speaker Angel, your time starts now. First. It it will easily happen. First, there are many people and cars in this city center. It will easy happen, car accident and traffic jam. Second, too many cars will pollute air, and too many cars voices will have an effect on people's life, on of these harmful for people. So we should. Cars. Yes, anels isn't in our best debate. Well done, Angel. Fantastic work. I like that you have your signposting first, second, thirdly, last. Yeah, it's absolutely fantastic. Very, very well done. Okay, it's time for speaker Lisa. I've got talked to myself now. Cyso speaker Lisa, our final speaker for today's debate. Okay, good evening, ladies and gentlemen, Madam Chair and worthy opponents, Molly and Angel. I disagree. I disagree that cars should be banned in city centres, and Molly stated in her debate about this idea of relying heavily on sort of shopping areas, and that actually banning cars would allow pedestrians to safely shop instead of going to shopping malls. And however, the reality is, Molly, that people need cars. They need to go to work by car, and some families may have heavy bags or boxes to go in. Second, cars help elderly and disabled people. They can't walk or cycle, as Angel has talked about, and they will struggle. So cars is a way for them to be able to move around the city. As my fellow teammate has stated, public transport is not always good and it's expensive. Buses can be late or very full, and some people do not have a train or public transport near their home. What are they to do? Also, shops need cars for deliveries or to get out. Any emergency packages to people about cars shops could close, couldn't they? So in colsion cars should not be banned in city centres because people need them for work, travel and daily life. Thank you. Okay, well then guys where going to open the floor? Okay for coming me any questions I'm not going to open the floor to any questions to your opposing team. Would you like to further rebuttle or would you have to ask a question to an opponent? Okay. I have a question, and my question is to Angel first. And Angel, you talked about there being accidents on the road, but shouldn't people walking be more aware of the cars? I know, I know. What do you think, Angel? Because because what work? Geris less dangerous. Okay, thank you very much, Angel. Fantastic, Molly, I also have a question for you. Molly gave some great examples and some lovely statistics about sort of inclusion and discrimination and allowing everyone safety within the city centres. Molly, can you tell me a little more about why you think this is important? Because if safety isn't good, as you thought, you might die or something. So you should wear for yourself and get some safety because they see the first wordest thing in the world. However, do we have traffic lights and and pedestrian walkways? And couldn't we have a better like tram service or train service? And but we when we've got cars, surely it's easier, it's more convenient for people to have a car. So why do you think that banning it gonna to be a good solution? Because. Bankers can. Okay, so we could have a quicaway into the city. Very well done, mine. And Alex, have you got anything else for our team that welike to perhaps say to Molly and Angel? No. So we find kind of feel like, okay, well done. Good. Amazing, our best. Well, to Molly and agelokay, we're going to do some feedback in a moment. Just some very quick feedback, but we're going choose today's winners. Okay, so hands up if you think the affirmative team had the best argument today? Oh, Angel's, hands up, a't Angel saying me, anyone else thinks the affirthat, the agree team did the best job today? Hey, well done. What is my braup? Okay, who thinks that the negative team had the best argument today? Oh, two, we voting for. Okay, Alex. I Yeah who are you voting for? Are you voting for the agree team, Alex, or are you voting for the negative team? I voted for neither. He's made for neither. He's leaving it neutral. I kind of feel that that then means that we get over to the agree team. Well done, Molly and Angel. You are our winners of today's debate. Excellent to me here. Alex, you were in the middle. You said your mind wasn't made up at the beginning of today's class because there are good points and bad points to both, aren't they? Weldon Angel Molly, your first debate, which is incredible. Weldon Alex, some really nice improvements here that's coming through. You're being much more consistent, Alex. There is a clearer idea and clearer points coming through. You are making sure that you're thinking about examples now and your rebuttals are coming along really nice. The Alex and actually your confidence in speaking and the pace of your speak is much, much better. So Alex, really well done. Yeah. Every week you're improving and it's great to see. Yeah. Angel. Wow. You got more confident as the class went on. Yeah. You use signposting in today's class. All right. You made sure that you had a point for each idea that we were talking about. Your discussions were really lovely. And again, you spoke for a good amount of time. Angel. Now we want you to push it, like to make more. Okay. I want you to write a little bit more for your speeches so you can get to that two minutes. Yeah but what you've done today is amazing. Your first debate. Yeah. It's really nerve wracking being in a new class. Yeah and I think you've done an amazing job, Angel. So very, very, very well done. Yeah. And Molly, again, we want you to slow down. Okay, do to slow your speech down just a little bit. You can speak for longer if you slow your slow God. But Molly, it was nice to hear you using expert opinions. It was nice for you to use statistics today. And again, you had some really nice examples and nice vocabulary in there. So weldone, Molly, I just want you to slow your speech down a little bit. Yeah, but absolutely incredible. Yeah, well done guys. Thank you so much for joining me today. Next weeks the boat is should every child have to join a sports club or team? Oh I wonder I'm not sure about this one. Alex is Shahis head. No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no have a think do some research prepare your lessons and you guys are amazing. Have a wonderful week guys. I'm gonna to give you all the beautiful trophy where your trophes gone there angle. Well done. Excellent Excellent job. Have fun. You can scribble on the board if you fancy it, and I will see you next week. Bye bye, bye bye.
