水有吗?Hello, Alex. Hi, how are you, Alex? I'm fine. Yeah. Where were you today? You look like you're in somewhere new worked. Are you in your home? You're in your arms. I'm in a new part. I'm in a new part. You're in a new part of your house. And how has your week been, Alex? Fine, except for today, where my math teacher continues to be grumpy. Your math teacher is still grumpy. What did he do today? What did this math teacher do today? Math teacher just just like everything can't be exactly described as grumpy. But I know that he needs to with people, sit and then move or else he's going to. You must sit and not move. But if you don't, when you have to see the game. And today we have to do this for ten minutes because can I stand up? Hey, quite well. So the teacher must let us sit and do that. What time is 20 minutes this time? We finish ten minutes in one time. Worse is ten times. So you end up with be what? So are you late then for for your bus or your school? Are you awake to go home? Are you late for for for dinner, for lunch? Does what did they make you late for? I'm afraid it will be make me wait for dinner then I can't eat dinner because I have this glass and why don't eat? Never and I have the second chance and then I can eat dinner. But then it will be very weand. I will be very gfy about it. Oh, then you grumpy. So the mastijust made you grumpy then? Not exactly it. Just wait. I'm saying continues to make a said, but not exactly set. Things need to let us do it and don't move, or else it would need to reduce do again. I see. We don't behave well. He will add minutes to it, and we have to sit all of minutes like this. And if we don't do well, we move. Then we need to do the game or talk when we need to do it again too. Oh my goodness, that sounds quite stressful, Alex. Quite streof. Well, this we won't be here being hopefully that stressful. The Valerie is not joining us today, Alex, as she is off today. So it's me under you. So you get a special class where we get to do it a little bit slower actually because we can we can really take our time if it's just me and you today. So Alex, first of all, do you know what the difference is between public speak and a debate? What is public speaking? Do you know? Yeah, I think so big speaking is a bug. The I think public speaking is a debate country. I think a big debate quite so public speaking is when we speak in public about a topic, but there is no other team or opinion. So you're just giving your speech. Yeah. So this is what politicians, government, maybe someone like head teacher in your school, maybe a motivational speaker there to inspire you. They would be known as public speaker, okay? Whereas a debate is when we obviously have our two sides, affirmative and negative, okay? So this then means we have two opinions, fighting each other or arguing with each other. But public speaking, we do not do that. We just deliver our opinion, deliver our prepared speech. Public speaking, you must make sure you have written your speech. Nothing worse than a public speaker going, no. We want someone to be clear, to be concise and have their notes ready. Okay? Debating first speaker would have their debate ready. So they would have their speech ready, and then everybody else, and then everyone else who's speaking will have notes that they use to rebuttle each other. Yeah. So they have to listen to everyone else's debate, and then they need to rebuttle in the debate. Okay? So in today's lesson, we're thinking about rebutttling, how do we respond to what the team on the other side said, and how do we show them that they are wrong? Okay, big thing here. You must research your topic. You must understand your topic, otherwise you can't rebuttle, yes, Alex, it just, it looks like you are in a different mood than before. Well, I can change my room wherever I want, Alex, I can change to this room. I could change to this. I could change to this. I could be in this, in the beach, could be in a spaceship like that. I can be in a cafe or it could be on top of the world. Alex, I can go anywhere on my computer. Yes, or my room. Ly, that's my room isn't nice. Isn't really. So you aren't my, I'm not really. It's just a picture. Yes, just a picture. Alex, it's just a picture. So yes, research. Alex, we want to make sure that we are researching. That means using our Internet, using books, finding quotes, experts to make our topic really clear. How can you argue if you don't know? Yeah. So we've got to think, what did the other side say? So you've got to give one sentence summarizing the argument from the other team. Okay, so let's think about children should go to jail for stealing bread. Okay, so Alex, what do you think about this? Do you think children should go to jail for stealing bread? I think it's too big of a crime and I think it's too small a crime and too big of a punishment. Okay. And why you want to give your reasons why? The reason why? Because steaming bread isn't that expensive and that isn't a big crime, okay? But everything, if the tiniest thing can be a crime when many people don't know exactly is crime and what is not a crime. So it will end with everyone they're milcrime and the lots of people in jail. And we don't what really know that it's something sometimes steam bed, not real steaeven, you see. Okay, well done, Alex. Well done. You've made your point. You've made your point. You know we're not gonna be taking a big debate on this though. Alex, Alex, Alex. Thank you. Thank you. We're not gonna make a we're not gonna do a big debate. Yeah so I want to show you so you said to me it's too small of a crime and too big of a punishment. Okay, if I am now rebutattling you first thing I'm going to say is, first of all, I would like to address speaker Alex this point about crime and too big of a punishment. We, the negative team, disagree with Alex because although bread is cheap, it is still a crime and could lead to bigger crimes. And so children should learn the consequences of their actions. So what I've done here, Alex, I've taken your point. Okay? So I've said speaker Alex stated that it was too small a crime. And too big a punishment. We the negative team disagreed because and now I'm going to give my reasons why I disagree then I can make my own point. Okay? So when we're rebattling, it's you need to make it clear to the judge, to the chair what you are disagreeing with. If you don't make that clear, they don't know what you're talking about. Okay? So that's how you start to win debates. All so let's try it with something else with you rebutttling me now. Okay, so I'm going to leave that here because you can change that to speaker Lisa or teacher, whichever one you prefer. Okay, so I am going to. All technology should be banned for children. Okay? So we, the greteam, believe that all technology should be banned for children as it is distracting them in classes, it is causing them to use AI to find answers, and is it is causing lots of eye problems that could be solved if they went back to paper books and paper textbooks. Okay, Alex, how would you rebuttle me? Easily, firstly. Technology is improving. Alex ways ex, Alex, before before you rebuttle, you must make clear what I said. Speaker, Lisa said this, and we disagree. You must make sure you tell us what argument you are. Rebutffled, okay. Speaker vissaid that all technology should be banned for children because. It's causing eye problems and. If children went back to reading. Paper books, we won't have any problems. But I disagree, because even if I read books, actually, it's not quite improving my eyesight. And I can show you one. Middle books can be a lot too. It's not easy reading where well well Alex nice example as well. So Alex just reminding yourself Yeah finished it I finished but Alex we we're gonna we're gonna be we're gonna be talking about this in a minute so we don't want to ruin it all it's just bripractice but you get to do all that in a minute so Weldon Alex speaker Lisa said Yeah so you want to make clear what did that opponent say and why do you disagree with that point okay because we need to make it clear which point you're arguing okay? So why is it incorrect? Maybe explain why their argument is incorrect why you don't agree and think about your own case Yeah use your support and reasons and evidence for why you are correct. So here I have another example here Alex that I want you to rebuti want you to rebuttle this okay so that in my example here is that books are better than movies. So here we are. I'm gonna to deliver my speech. Alex, my first point about why books are better than movies is that books allow your imagination to flow. This is because in books there are no pictures. So you're forced to think about everything looks like, but if you are watching a movie, it gives you a picture and you can't imagine anything else. For example, when you are reading a spaceship, you can imagine the spaceship as being super cool, awesome and huge. Whereas if you are watching a movie, the spaceship turns out to be rusty and tiny. It ruins the experience for you. Therefore, because your imagination can flow, books are definitely better than movies. So Alex, how would you rebuttle my argument here? Because because this a saying books are better in movies because it a. Imagination to I agree with it, but many books have pictures too. So you can't exactly imagine it's for example, if we saying a spaceship might be a picture of a spaceship even a book a huge many of words have, we have very book, but there are still pictures inside it. Can you see? I can indeed. And so even the books can be so books can also have. Pictures, the books. And when you are really bowith pictures, you will sometimes you want know what it looks like when you are reading. But when you are looking at a movie, you will see everything you want to know about it. Then you won't. You won't mp. Think that anything is better. And when you see it, then you because cross the world's analyex. The only thing you know what you forgot, the rebuttal was fantastic. But do you know what you forgot in the beginning? This bit, to use what I said, the affirmative team said that books up your imagination flow. Now the judge knows what your rebuttal if. And you just start speaking, they don't know what you're rebutttling. They don't know what you're saying is right or wrong. Okay? So every time you rebuttle, you must tell me what points you are disagreeing with. Speaker Alex said this, or affirmative team said this, or negative team said this. And I disagree because it shows the chairperson you are listening. It shows the chairperson what you were talking about. Okay? But your rebuttal was fantastic. It just it just needs that just needs that bit at the beginning. Okay? You've got to remember it today to practice, and here are some helpful tips for you. Yeah, this is not the case. We do not agree with that argument. That argument is irrelevant. That argument is wrong. Your argument does not work. The plan is ridiculous. Yeah. So we can use these kind of signposting to help us to create rebuttals. Okay? But we must state what we're talking about. And I can see you're already super prepared for this debate today, but we are here in the current technological generation, should schools use e textbooks rather than paper books, or should we be using our phones, our iPads, our laptops, our computers and using ettext rather than painbooks? So before we start discussing, we need to define our motion. So Alex, what do we mean by technological? What kind of technology are we talking about? Kind of technology. It's a kind of technology that helped people, right? Yeah. So could you give me an example of some some technology that we're talking about in our debate today? We talk about all technology we can about microphmostly used to talk to people, but they're it's the use phems are useful, but there a lot of improvements on it like taking pictures and everything back. We're not talking about technology as a whole, Alex. Alex, we're not talking. We've got to find the motion. What technology are we talking about to dim? We're talking about e textbooks. Where do we get e textbooks? Are on our laptop, on our iPad, on our microwave, on our oven, on our watches. Like what technology are we talking about today? Can you list the technology we're talking about? 嗯。Fatops computers AI and paads Yeah not AI we're not talking about AI today because they're not a textbook. AI is not a textbook. Yeah textbook needs to be opened and that would be on my computer. Yeah AI is not gonna to open your textbook all it could give you lots of answers but it won't over your textbook. Yes Alex our teaches television is AI yes but it's not a textbook. So remember, this is a paper textbook, isn't it? This is a book we're talking about this why we have to define our motion of to be very clear what we're arguing, we are arguing how should we still have paper books like this? Or should we now be giving everybody a laptop, asking everyone to open their textbooks on this? So it's not about AI today. AI is not a textbook. Yeah textbooks are opened via kindle, via apps, via books, via things that we can write on. So Alex, today we're thinking about, should we have all our textbooks on iPads or or do we need these? Do we need paper books to have a look at stuff? Yeah. And again, e textbooks. What do we mean by textbooks? What is a textbook galaxy? A textbook is a book, what you write on. And I disagree with because. First reason since they said it. We should use technology, but I have experience when a teacher gives me a computer and tells me to research, usually we search games and everyone, asus, yes. So we never searched. And then the teachers, it's checking. We just turn to another page of a third page, and then the teacher won't know that we haven't been researching. When a teacher is looking, we'll switch back to the games. And I have the things I do before we get into the debate. Before we get into the debate, I want us to be really clear here. I want us, because we've got time to go over this. We are justifying a motion. We are just talking about what each word means at the moment. And at the moment, we are not talking about research. It's not about research. It's about text books, okay? It's about books we can open on a tablet rather than having a book like this. So what is a textbook? Well, it's a subject, isn't it? It's a math book or a science book or an English book, or it's something that we learn from, right? So Alex, we're talking about, do we take these paper books with us? Should we be taking lots and lots of paper books, or should we just take an iPad to school? Would that be easier? I think if should take a lot of paper. Okay? Why? Why? It's allows you to get on Internet. And when you are going to Internet, sometimes you don't do a work to assign you. You just do as you want. Since on Internet you can research almost anything. I met it myself. Okay, so we won't be looking at the ettextbook. We might get distracted. But I could take the Internet away. Alex, I could just let you download your e textbooks, and I could take the Internet away from you so that you can't go onto games. You can only have an iPad with the e textbooks. Why would it still be a problem for you? I have a speciknowing that, but especially, it's one thing I'm esince. I see that it's a main program on my main computer, right? Get over index books. But if you ring it off, when you have a text back then, but when you are researching a textbook, you need open Internet. So when you open on Internet, I can go in. And when you shut off, I can. But why why would I need the Internet? Why would I need the Internet for week? I'm not talking about researching, not talking about looking at other Internet sites. I'm talking about you using an App E, say, for example, in for me, are you something called kindle? I can put all of my books onto kindle, don't need WiFi, and I can access all of my books digitally. Don't need the Internet, doesn't have games. So do you not think everyone should be given a little kindle or iPad that allows you to read without games? Would that not be better than taking loads of paper books to school? It will be better, but it will spend a lot of money, and it will also cause a problem. If you have those things. Children don't try to view other things on it. And it's not impossible if you vote it something else, like a game on it, you can play. I want to go back to this, this point that you've just made. Just a good point, Alex. This idea of money, do you think it's too expensive to ask people to have e readers? Too expensive. But so we ask babthemselves to buy each children's one. But when, if I'm buying it myself, of course I will Veit free of the Internet, cut it off from school Internet so the the teacher can see my screen or control my screen and ranand picking Yeah or the teacher teachers can't decide what you buy. And you could buy by A A more expensive one that has games on Oh, it does it even a competition you can have games. You just need to build this small Internet. Not necessarily. This is what I'm gonna show you. So this is my point here, Alex. So we can buy kindles. So I've got kindle. The kindle looks a little bit like. This okay, so this here is a kindle. There's no games, there's no Internet. You download your books onto your phone and then you are able to put it onto your kindle. So the only thing you can have on a kindle is books. Kind of anything else on books? Could we not give every student one of these. It's too expensive, but if you ask good parents haven't, then I better put something out of kingdle. It's just like something like a kindle, but not exactly. I've seen it before. It can do access to that. Do you think children could end up downloading stories they actually want to read? So for example, would the problem be, I put a maths textbook on my kindle, I'm actually reading Harry Potter? Could that be some of the problems with the kindle? Heavy a problem, but if it's me, a kinder doesn't stop me from reading books of games. And if you downget to move quickly, p, when it's just like moving. So it's just like you're watching television, not looking at it. And if you download screen modes, it's just like reading a book, but it's really more like looking at television. So it's just like when you are, we are supposed to read the math books and when I might be looking at games and a lot of things, since it doesn't limit for things like I can put books that I can put on it and if I fit quickly and the mechanics make good sense for me. Even we need to read, Oh well, it will be just like looking at it and when I come to move them can be too. Mm, so you can end up with a game on there or a program. Okay, here you an eBook could stop trees being knocked down. A book, it's made of trees. It's made of wood with we're cutting trees down. I could save a tree if I didn't have this book. Surely, isn't it better for the environment if I use eBooks? You don't exactly need tree bark to make paper. What do I need? I forgot, but I recommend it can use adult materials. Oh, silk. Silk. What would be difficult to write on though, wouldn't it? Wouldn't silk be very hard to write on? Yeah, since it's super, super. Actually, you can't actually write on it. Haven't thought about that. What about recycled paper? Do you think we do think we could use recable sand sandpaper? I think sandpaper would be very difficult to write. Itbe very rough. It would start your fingers as well. What about recycled paper? I have an idea, if you use a paper, you can throw it in your bin and melt it again, turn it into other paper and load it into paper for books. Good idea. Yeah, we could reuse paper, okay? But I mean, we would cut less, you know we would cut down less trees. We would be more environmentally friendly with an eBook, wouldn't we? Yes, but you are using AI. You also need a lot of material. And what of those materials? A dog from earth and it's creating gas with making earth hotter. Yes, technology is using electricity that can also cause pollution. Yes, this is a really good point, Alex. Okay, it isn't the most thing that I'm saying most. It's just, but you are taking for things at unique Marinot electricity. Electricity doesn't make a lot of pollution. It's that you make them interwith things. So then it went a pollution we are doing it smoke chemicals and it's making a hot well done. But remember Alex, we're talking of our eBooks versus paper so make sure we don't go into another different debate. Okay? But Alex I've got go to school and I've got loads of paper books that you want that you still think I should have. Okay? So I've got this book. I've got to put in my bag. I've got this book. I've got put in my bag. I've got this book. I've got to put my bag. Got this boto put in my bag. I've got this book. Put in my bag. Now I've got it's surely an e book would be easier. But when I have an eBook everyrather, read games swiit, and I will download, and I rather have something else to decide, this Guan e book. Isn't it this? I'm healthy. Isn't this unhealthy for my back? Isn't this unhealthy? Like, I could forget my book as well, like an e book. I would never forget my book. I would always have my books with me. But this is heavy. Like you want me to go out? Like surely there's a better way, Alex, than taking all this into school. You can spt it from school and not get then not get it back each time. You can always put it in a school. So time needed it, you can get it. We're a locker, so we could have lockers in school. To keep our books or leave it in. But what if I've got homebook in my textbook? What what if I've got homework to do in my textbook? Then you just get it back. So just take one book at a time. Okay, okay. Oh, tough, tough. Today to convince you textbooks and okay, what if though, Alex, I want to make notes this I start making notes in in all of this, it could get really scribbly. And my writings are very good. Whereas in an eBook, I can make little notes and I can save them and I can change them and I can edit them really quickly. I can't edit my notes on these kind of books. So isn't an e textbook better to make notes on. Yes, but lots of people doesn't actually do it, but some people just do different things with them. I suppose, though, do you think an eBook can be dangerous? Do you think you could lose all the notes? So you lost your eBook. Would you then lose all of your notes? Yes that is a problem if you use worbook when you use overnose but normally I have a what noit up put on one book so it will be the same just don't freewith then we say even a normal book when I was that I not know was a lot of notes since I read a lot of notes on each book. Okay, okay. So we're sort of saying actually just either way you could lose you could lose you could lose anything you could lose a paperbook you could lose an eBook. So maybe that's not great argument for either. Okay so so other things to consider Yeah so don't really too much we've been talking about this has we've been going along so other things to consider the weight to book paper books is too heavy for children to Carry every day. E textbooks are accessible and lightweight and students don't need to worry too much about forgetting a book because you've got them all. Students will be easy to locate a certain information and eat textbooks, and it could be customizable on an e reader. An e textbooks don't use spaper, which is eco friendly, but for the other side, e textbooks is unavailable when a wireless connection isn't available. While our battery and students might lose all their notes if they lost one single tablet, students can get distracted by other functions in the tablet, maybe like games and e textbooks need to renew a subscription or repurchase every year. Some, not all, not all students will be able to afford a tablet or Internet and eBooks might be doing more harm to students eye cite than we would like. So lots of good points in there as well, isn't there? Okay. So Alex, you get a choice today. We don't need to do our randomizer because it's it be your choice because I'll fight on whichever team. So which side are you agreeing with the motion today? Or are you disagreeing with this motion? What is current technology generation school should use e textbooks rather than paper perbooks. I'm saying technology shouldn't be banned from children, right? So you're going on the negative team, so you're saying no paper books are still better and I'm going go on the effective ective team. So Alex, I'm going give you some time just to think maybe you can use your pand highlight the things you want to talk about. Okay, won't have long because you're gonna to be mainly rebutattling today. It's just for me to get my speech together as well. So five minutes. Okay Alex so you can use you can use this to make your notes okay? Okay, so five minutes we don't need use the pen sensibly otherwise I'll take the pen away. Alex well we're not going to have to pen then you have to you have to make your notes via pel paper. All right. Yeah. Know we don't just use the board like that. We're sensible with the board. Okay, get the pen back. Yes, you can. We also put that here, as you can see there. What happened to that? Oh, I don't know. Edge pop that there. That's fine. Strange. Amazing, right? Just check in mine and then remember Alex, you are also rebutttling today, you know so we're gonna have that phrase. Yeah the agree team said, however, I disagree because Yeah going to be we're going to using this quite a lot in our debate today as well. I have three minutes on each side. Harlow only have two minutes and then we will open it up to rebuttals completely. Wow o. Let's be sensible with that pen. You should be getting ready for your debate, not just putting dots on. As exciting as dots are. That's exciting, as exciting as making dots on the pages. Make sure you're writing about the like. You're going to be saying the right things because there's stuff that you've highlighted in there that's mine, not yours. Like this one, for example, really shouldn't be in your debate. This is my mind to make. You mean do? You mean, yes, it's that one there, that one you don't want. That's mine. Because if we could take away the Internet access for the children to use the e textbooks, yoube arguing that you can't take it, yoube, like, no, you can't take away the Internet. And I'm like, we're can't. Yes, that's our different arguments. Okay, two minutes. Make sure you're really clear on what you want to say. Make sure you've got your rebuttals, your sentences made. Okay, if we've got time to draw, we're probably ready. Are we ready? I think if we're drawing, we're ready. Okay, right. Because we don't, because bwas looking at this, we have nothing to, I'm writing and I write, but we should be writing in English, not Chinese in class, only English. It's an English class, you see, Alex, Yeah. So you can write something if you want to. I'll give you a two minutes. Well, minute and half, but you must write in English on know, on the board. You choose to write Chinese on a piece of paper there. I can't see it. No, I to work up why is it like doing screwing? Oh, it's here. Okay, one minute and we're going to start our debate. No Chinese on the board or scribbling freeze freefreeze in seconds. 50s. I hope you're ready. Please, please, please, please, please. Not having any. We're not doing any Chinese on the bottom. An English class, Alex. It's an English class, Alex. It's developing English skills by 30s. Anything else you want to highlight before we begin? I'm ready. I am ready to fight you today. 15s. Are you ready? Anything else you would like to highlight, Alex? Anything else you want to think about for your things? We're not writing that on the board. Okay? We don't need the pen cleaning. Two, one time. Alex, would you like to be able to see these notes? Shall I make it so that we can see the notes as well? Is that useful? Yeah. No, no, no. Didn't, didn't eat them. You know it. You're ready. Okay? No, no, no, no, no. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. Good it. Good it. Right? Today's debate. Whoa, let me get ready. Alex. I'm ready. I'm up. I'm ready to deliver my speech, right? Today's motion is in the current technological generation, schools should use e textbooks rather than paper books. On the affirmative team, we have Lisa. From the uk negative team, we have Alex. And we are going to be discussing these g texbooks and our paper books. We're going to be thinking about the notion that we should allow all students to learn digitally. Affirmative speaker will open the address today on two minutes, and the negative speaker will rebuttle their debate in three minutes. The floor will then open for a further five minutes for active rebutttling between both teams. Okay, welcome, affirmative team. Your time starts now. Good morning, everyone. Chairperson and worthy opponent. Today I stand for the motion that in the current technological generation, schools, should you e textbooks rather than paper books? When discussing textbooks, we mean maths, science, English, history, geography and other subjects that we are learning in school, not storybooks. When we're talking about paper books, we're talking about writing and reading books that we would need for our education. First, eBooks are easier to Carry. One tablet or laptop can hold many books. Students will have to Carry heavy books to schools. This helps with their health, especially their perhaps. Secondly, e textbooks are more updated. Information in technology, science and world news changes quickly. E textbooks can be instantly updated, but paperbooks stay the same until a new edition is printed. And this waste more paper. This means students can always learn on the latest information. Thirdly, e textbooks are more interactive. They can include videos, pictures, quizzes and links to more information. This makes learning more interesting, doesn't it? And helps students understand difficult topics more easily. Fourth, e textbooks are better for the environment. They reduce the need for paper, printing and transportation. This means fewer trees are cut down and we create less waste. Using e textbooks helps us take care of our planet. Isn't that a good thing? Finally, e textbooks can be cheaper in the long run. Schools do not need to buy new books every year. In conclusion, e textbooks are lighter, updated, interactive, eco friendly and cost effective. Thank you. Okay. Negative speaker Alex, your time. Remember, you've got to rebuttle today. Okay? The affirmative team said your time. Alex starts now. Today, I think affirmaspeak visa, but children should use tablet instead of new books. I disagree because firstly. Cause notebooks, when you are using tablets, if you use the tablet, when you use or notes, you're made. And secondly, because you make pollution, when you make tablet and you need the, and the material are made, they make pollution with mix will hurhotter make our environment. A place make our environment hotter. So we should use paper books and then the environment would stay ys, safe. Ck, so I think children should use paper books. In conclusion, I think children shouldn't use tablets when going to school. Okay, thank you very much, speaker Alex. Okay, the floor is now open to our free debating. Okay. Firstly, I would like to address speaker Alex. He talked about paper books being less of a distraction, but we on the agree team believe that paper books are outdated. They don't have new information in them. How can we make sure students are getting the right information for learning? Don't what frozen. Don't me back. So alespeaker Alex spoke about paper books being a better idea because they eBooks distract students, but eBooks give us updated information. So how do we make sure that students are learning the correct things with books that have been printed ten years ago? I don't know. Okay. So let me rephrase it for you. Speak, Alex, how do we make sure that our paper books have the right information in them? The pabook have right information, to be fair, I don't know. Okay, so that's a point to the affirmative team. Okay, so that will be an appoint to the affirmative team. So the affirmative team has now gained a point as negative team have agreed that paper books are not able to be updated. Speaker Alex, you also talked about being distracted by eBooks. Why do you think why can't we just turn the Internet off and therefore children cannot not access other websites or games because when you, because we can also read other books, like when you you should be reading math books, you might be reading Harry Potter and sometimes you might be even reading other books, comic books and all of other books. You can read a lot of other books. Okay, thank you very much, Alex. You said that it will waste paper, but why can't we use recycled paper so when we don't need cut trees? So while recycled paper is a good idea, a negative team, we do feel on the affirmative team that with taking away all paper books and replacing them with eBooks, that no trees or no paper would ever need to be used, which would be a real difference for trees in the environment. When she use tablet, when you need to use chemicals, and then it will make the environment, earth, water. If you just use paper books, then wouldn't it be better? Well, then I will concede speaker Alex, that is correct. Another point, we're on two to the negative team, on one to the affirmative team. Next point I want to address with speaker Alex is you talked about the fact that paper books mean that you can learn better and keep our writing and keep up our writing skills. But in this generation, are we changing our whole world to be technological, and our paper books a little bit useless now when we have AI and we have robots being made, like, is it paper books a little old? When you use everything you say, I do anything, you don't want to do anything this my time and do everything, but I do everything for you. So when you get, when you just do something, then your body can't get better, so you don't want to run m and do anything, since it don't need to, but then your body will get so much energy, so then the body won't be so good. Thank you very much, speaker Alex. Another point over to your team. Speaker Alex, any question any other questions you would like to make on your rebuttal from your side? Hmm. You said that you can read a lot of books and it's very heavy, but when you you have it, when it's writer, but why can't I store all the books in a school? Why can't I school have rockers and I put them in rokers? And when I am going to class, I just pull out a book. And when I need to do text at home, I just put out and take it back home. And while we acknowledge that obviously some students can leave books in their lockers, and at year seven, 89, this is probably a very good idea. However, once we are in year ten and eleven and doing examinations, it's very difficult to leave your books in school when you have so much homework, so many essays, and you need all the lesson notes that you have made. That means you're going to have to take your books home and you're going to have to bring them back. And bags are heavy. Books can really cause strain on our back. And we do believe here on the affirmative team that students would be more comfortable if they just use an eBook. But you can make two copies of a book at home and one at school. So when you get home, you can use first copy to do it. And when you get back to school, you can use a copy out of school, at school, and when tes don't need to be nursed on books, you can note them on papers. Papers are White and you can make a special little bag or papers, papers that you can read read you can store in a markers for later. Okay. So while this is a solution that has been foot forward by the negative team, we do think this is a waste of time. Adding more pressure into copying our work adds time to our students evenings and also it wastes more paper, which feels like we are not really solving a problem which eBooks could solve. But you can have Tabat home, but when that when you are doing at home some things, you don't get anything. You does get some things like it. When you get home, you can need, you will copy it. You can that's like on Internet, you can scream on a shot and you can relook the things all on the book at home. So if you only have pictures of it, then you can't do anything about it. So you do it at home, you can do it since your mom can give you pictures. Well done, Alex. Another point to the negative at team, and that would make it four points to one. So well done, Alex. You have won our debate today. And Alex, I am actually in agreance. I do think paperbooks are much better. I always say the argument you didn't think of anx was what's quite nice about a paperbook is when we're reading, we get to see how far we've come, right? Because we can see how much we've read or how much we've done in a workbook, whereas an eBook you're just sliding, haven't got a clue what how much we've read or how much you haven't. And very impressive rebutttling today. Alex, Yeah, my God, I applaud you. I think that was absolutely brilliant. You gave me a run for my money. And nice address Alex, nice rebuttal when you opened your speech and nice aspect. One thing, don't let's if you're not sure of a question, try your best to still answer because you gave me a point. You could have had five points, but you gave me the point cause you wait. Yeah, I can't say anything. Yeah, Yeah it's but never say that in a debate. So while I see your point, I don't believe that this I don't think this is irrelevant for our debate today. If you're not sure what to say, just Chuit back. It's cool because otherwise you've given me a point. Yeah and well done Alex. I am so proud of you. That was amazing. Right next week Alex, we're gonna to be thinking about children should be banned earning money from their schoolmates. This is interesting. Hmm, I'll have to see. Are you flossing Alex? Are you doing the floss? Have you ever seen the floss? Alex, I don't know if you've ever done the floss. I don't know if I can get far back in it. Have you ever done the floss? You go like this, and then you go like this, and you go like that. It's really good dance ad to a little bit. Well done Alex. I love a good dance. It's nice to have a dance at the end of those claright. Alex, have a good week. I will see you next week for this debate. I'm very exciting. Bye darling. Well done. Bye.
