Oh, hi, Alex. How here? What happened? You can't get into a screen. You couldn't get into the screen. Oh, finally in. Oh, okay, don't worry. Hi, Valerie, you're okay. Hi. Yeah, it's unusual to see you on a Friday. You move classes half year from our Thursday to our Friday. Well, hello, it's so nice to have you with us. How is your week being? Valerie, what have you been up to? At school it was like a trip to a place to like place the lines ines and some. That's really cool. So you've had a really good week. You've enjoyed to have you. I love. That's really nice to hear. Alex, what have you been up to this week? This week, nothing perfect, normal going. Just go and back. But each time when I finish school. We must sure always need to say homework after its school is over. Oh, so school is over, and then they talk about the matths homework. So when food over, you can breathe, you must stay here until my math teacher says what the homework is. And if someone talks, then you need to wait for ten minutes or more, and then finally you can get out. But if someone still talks when you still can't get out. The part I did like, Oh, I'm and poor parents waiting for you, Alex. Everyone's waiting for you to finish. My mom used me because my mom at the time, he wafrom bed sometimes she, because I normally came out late, so she didn't come when school finished, but after school finished for well. And then waits, she waits, Oh, my gooright Alsay, she didn't wait at the right time. She doesn't wait at the time refinish. And Valerie and Alex, I think you are going to be worthy opponents here. I've heard you both debating. I think you're gonna to be very, very good oppositions to each other in this class. So remembering to hold a debbit. So remember Valerie and Alex, we want to open our our our bit debate. So the chair checks who's present. Make sure the right debator is debating the right vote. Then we are looking at our main speeches. So obviously, we're looking at our proposer are affirmative and our our poser are negative. Agree and disagree. Okay. We also want to then further our argument. Remember Valerie and Alex, the hardest bit sometimes about debating is debating aside you don't always agree with. That's part of debating. You can end up with a motion or a team that you don't agree with and you still have to debate on it. So looking sometimes at all sides of a debate is really, really important. You don't know what side you may be debating on further arguments, give particular evidence, build your information. Then we might open to the floor questions from the audience maybe that you need to answer. Then your team will sum up what was the main points of your argument. And then usually there will be a vote either from judges or from the public or the audience, or in government, parliament, from the mp's, those who work for the government will make those decisions. Okay. Oh, there's a police car zooming past my window. Then we want to think about some sentence starters. Okay, so we're going to have a look at these first. So one of the most straightforward ways to introduce your opinion is I think that but let's spice a few things up. So we're going to have a look at some of these arguments. Introducing your argument. So I could say, in my opinion, it's important to express your thoughts in English from my point of view. From my point of view, English grammar is confusing. I do believe that. So Alex, can you make a sentence with my opinion? In my opinion, my math teacher always don't fit a goal when school finished. And I think this is bad when school. That's a good one, Alex. I like that one. Valerie, what about from my point of view? Can you think of a sentence with, from my point of view. From my point of view, all my friends are very odd and weird. Very odd. I like Valerie. Do you like that? They are odd. Do you like your friends being odd? Yeah, me too. I've got odd friends. I like my friends being odd. Okay, right. Now look at the next one. As far as I'm concerned, plastic pollution is great threat to humans. Alex, what could you do for this one? What intrintroduction sentence could you have here? Do you mean I make a word, then make a sentence? It has, as far as I'm concerned, in it. Yes, please, Alex, actually, I can do the same word I did the last time I we with it. Yeah, absolutely. Do you want to change it so that you can eat it with, as far as I'm concerned? As far as I'm concerned, my math teacher sometimes stitoo much. Alex, do you like your matths? Teacher, no, because it doesn't. No, my pateacher gives me too much of you will be, I reckon you will thank your matths. Teacher, when you get really good grades in matths, then you'll be like, my matteacher was so good, really good grade des, because a math teacher, when I, I didn't do one thing of three and I did a dried bird, I've forgot his, let's say, not for sentence, but how I get where I've got to do it and. My math teacher ticked. Twelve points points from you. That's not that's not good. Okay, right. Valerie, can you think of a sentence with personally, personally, I think it's interesting to listen to different English accents. I think it's to be a so what do you think sentence you could make with personally. Think it's a. To be a to be a what I'm not sure if I'm saying this right but apoly God they can say more than three language yes yes yes so could I think I'm gonna give you a new one here Valerie I think it's cool to be a linguistic Yeah that's a poaway of saying it linguistic it's a very nice word to say okay brilliant. Love these sentences well done okay so opening getting our argument out there, introducing our point is really, really important. We want to engage the audience, maybe start with a rhetorical question. Honestly, did you believe that we should have homework after school here? So we want to get our audience involved. Yeah get them excited to listen to us, get the judges on side. Today's debate is all about should kids eat sweets only on weekends? And the way of focusing on this only, okay, obviously one person will be on affirmative, one person will be on negative today. But before we do that, before we even do anything, let's have a little video. Okay, that just talks a little bit more about it. Here we go. Oh, little Kitty, don't overeat sugar. Hmm, good question. Hey friends, I know, just like Kitty, you might also find it hard to resist the sweety beauty taste of sugary food. So in today's episode, let me explain the impact of sugar on you and answer a bitter sweet question. Is sugar bad for you? Zoom in. Hey friends, I know whenever you see those irresistible chocolates, crungy cookies, creamy pastries and fruity scoop ice creams, it's hard to resist them as your mouth gets watery and your tummy starts craving for them. But have you ever wondered why it's next to impossible to resist these sugary products? Well, let me explain. But first, let us learn a few things about sugar. Yeah sugar is a sweet substance that originates from plants like sugar cane and sugar beans. It is one giant molecule of carbohydrate with a scientific name called sucrose, made up of two smaller carbohydrates called fructose and glucose. Simple sugar, like sucrose, can be easy to identify. However, sometimes sugar can be disguised under fancy names such as lactose, maltose, dextos, starch, and, of course, as we mentioned earlier, fructose and glucose. And since sugar is everywhere, it is vital to know its impacts on your brain and body, why it's hard to resist, and what happens when it reaches your taste bugs. You see, as soon as you take the bite of that delicious patree, it activates the sweet receptors of taste buds on your tongue, which sends signals to different parts of your brain, including the cerebral cortex. And once the cerebral cortex processes the sweet taste, it activates the brain's reward system and releases the feel good chemical called dopamine. This reward system is not limited to eating sugary food, but also kicks in when you play your favorite video game, watch your favorite show, or hang out with your best friends and everything that makes you feel good. And because of this feel good factor, you crave sugar and can get addicted to it. Although eating a little sugar is not bad for you, as your body needs it to survive, but overeating it can lead to a series of health issues. For instance, there is a chemical called leptin, a hormone that is made by fat cells. The way leptin works is when it rises, your appetite diminishes, which means leptin is essential in controlling how much you eat as it tells you when to stop eating. But absorbing too much fructose can lead to leptin resistance, a condition in which we don't know when to stop eating, resulting in obesity. Also, if you eat more sugar than your body can use in a day, it stows the sugar it doesn't need in the liver or converts it to fat. When you do this regularly, you damage your liver and build up fat. These extra fats can also enter your blood loodstream and form fatty deposits in blood vessels that increase the risk of stroke, heart attack and other heart related problems. So, my dear friends, make sure to reduce taking sugar to stay fit and fine triyour time. Did you know sugar can make you look old? Yes, my dear friends, studies have shown that sugar can bind with collagen and elastticin in our skin, causing permanent damage to it and making it look wrinkly and saggy. And you won't believe, but refined sugar has been linked with disease like arthritis, stress, depression, tooth decay, asthma, allergies and even cancer. Hope you learned something new in today's episode. Until next time, it's me, doctor binox, zooming out. Oh, no. Never mind, he put salt in their tea. Yes, Valerie. I have watched their episodes before, have you? And so actually, because it's your second time watching it, Valerie, and do you think what he says is is really useful? Is he right? Do you think he's wrong? Yeah. Why do you think he's right? Eating too much sugar like he said, can like cause two day. Cancer. And depression and more. It's it's a it's a huge, it's so addictive. I mean, pull my teeth, right? Not a good thing. Don't want you to do this. Valerie and Alex, all of my teeth. I've all got holes because I've eaten too much sugar as a child. No one ever told me to stop. Yeah. And so I have I have big tooth problems, you know, not something that I would recommend to any child. Yeah. So that could be a big, big problem with sugar. Yes, Alex. And sugar can also affect your eyes. If you eat too much sugar, then your eyes get bad. Very well done. Yet it can affect every part. The main reason mom doesn't let me eat too much sugar because I say isn't too late right now. That's great. But that's good, isn't it? That's good that your your parents are making sure you don't eat too much. I suppose this motion today is really asking that question. I think we can all agree. I am someone who is much older, who has realized how bad sugar can be, what it can cost you if you eat too much. At the same time, we have to think about, is it only eating sweets on the weekend that would solve the problem? Or is this motion today, looking at this idea that we shouldn't eat sweets at all, maybe they should be banned, is what you're arguing? Maybe only eating sweets on the weekend is a good idea because it means we can limit how much we eat. It's more of a treat. It's exciting. We can make sure we don't eat too much. Or do we need to just be eating little and often? We've got to think about that today with the motion. Yeah, I think we all agree it's bad, but how do we manage that sugar? Should we take chocolate and sweets out of everything and give no sweets and chocolate, or are we simply saying yes only on the weekends? A great idea. Or should we be saying no, that doesn't help either, because then we just eat too much on the weekend. So, Valerie, I suppose my question to you is, how do you think we should deal with sweets and chocolate with children? What do you think we should do? I think we can eat like some food, like almost like sweet, almost like some. Fruits, fruit juice or probably. Some fruit jelly. I think you're saying that we should get rid of sweets altogether. We should get them altogether, not just only on the weekend. What do you think, Alex? Do you think maybe just having them on the weekend is is a good idea or what's your plan? What would you want to happen? Me I think you can just eat sweet on the best day of weekend. I think you could I could eat them on the last day of so you're sort of slethere just eat a bitter and you just eat. So not too much, making sure we only eat a little. Okay. But Alex, you are saying that you do think it's a good idea only eat them on the weekend. So Alex, why do you think the weekend is a good time to be eating sweets? Why not on Monday or or Wednesday? Why do you think, say, a Sunday is a good time to have your your treat today? Just a time of choice, not really a time choice. Well, I think think about I think you've got a point here, Alex, because if we eat sweets in the week, can we become unfocused? Can it stop us sleeping well? Can it stop us concentrating in class if we eat too many sweets? Because what do sweets do if we've got too much sugar? What can happen to us if we eat too much? If it includes sugar, you get stupid. Yeah, you can get silly. We start shaking, Yeah, we won't have too much energy. And now we're no longer listening because we're too much too fired up for the lesson, aren't we? Yes, this is a good point. Something I wanna see in your debate today, Alex. Yeah, really, really was Valerie, you're talking on the other side. You're actually gonna fight for the negative idea here. Alex is saying, one day on a weekend a good solution to this problem. But Valerie, you're saying it should be banned altogether. So how do we do that? How do we change kids minds so that suites are just not something we want? We we could like do things that we that make us happy, like playing, like hanging out with your friends, doing like our favorite hobbies and and then we could probably probably get rid of snacks and then just do all of these things that make us happy. Hey, I like that. So to replace it, make the endorphins, the dopamine, come from having a hobby instead of care. We like the answer. Alex, what are you gonna say? But I'm still. Almost everything you see on one table, it's it has sugar in like food. It food actually has a lot of sugar, even mines. But we don't have a lot. But still we still have sugar. But if you don't have any sugar, then you don't have any energy. So you need sugar, but not too much. Well done. A balance. What we call Alex something for your debate today. Moderation is what you're kind of talking about. Having no chocolate or sweets or having no sugar in our diet can equally be bad. However, if we continue to eat sweets the way we do in society, it's gonna to lead to diabetes, liver problems, heart attacks, strokes, addiction. Yeah it can lead to problems with teeth. No one's the amount of dentistry that you have to pay for your teeth, that's expensive. Yeah they have to last a long time. We need to be kind to them. Yeah, yes, Alex. In my class, lots of people have that tip, and some of them don't even bother to fix them. Just stay them like this. We don't fix them. They fix them in a way. But damage to the entire teis, black, one student has the entire teis nearly gone. Just a stop. It's really an Alex and a statistic for both of you, Valerie and Alex, that you can use in today's debate. Uk, British. And we have the worst teeth in the world. And do you know why? Why do you think the uk might have some of the worst teeth in the world and ameriis closely behind? And do could anyone have a guess on why you think the uk is voted the worst? What you reckon, Valerie? Well, I think it's because they probably eat too much sweets that make their teeth black 100%. Yeah, we even until recently, we used to have free access to things like dentists. But also in the industrial revolution, in the old days, sort of 19 twenties, 19 thirties, nineties, fifties, 19 sixties, they used to put chemicals into these suites to make them look amazing, okay? Because they wanted people to buy this new, this new product, this new thing, theybrought out to make money. But it was all poisoned. It wasn't good. And what happened is it's got an addictive chemical in a lot of British sweets. Dairy milk chocolate, if you've ever heard of it, has more chemicals in it than chocolate, doesn't have a lot of chocolate in it, but it makes you want it because it tastes amazing and delicious. And so even adults become addicted. We have a culture of eating a lot of bad sugars, okay? And that causes a huge problem in our health. Also why the uk has a lot of people who end up with strokes because of the amount of sugar. It's everywhere. Our marketing is all on sweets. Our supermarkets are set up for sweets. Yeah go to the till. There's a chocolate bar that you can buy easily. It's cheap as well. Yeah can be five, ten p for a chocolate bar. So think about those things in today as well. How do we balance it? How do we make moderation? Or as Valerie you might argue, why do we have it at all when there's no real benefit to it maybe. Okay, it's a good idea. Well, well done, Alex. Great. Think I'm using an example. You can use that today. Alex. Use the example of your classmate. Yeah however, our kids have such a stressful time at school, they want to chill out when they get home. For them, it means watching tv and eating some sweets. I'm happy for them to do that every day if it makes them happier. Oh, Alex, you're shaking your head. Do you agree with this? No, because if you are happy now and when time come and go, when you're not happy, it's just like this one time you are very happy. And when will your teeth get? You get very painful and sometimes it get too bad. You need to talk with teeth or fix it. And the fact is very, really, really painful. Also expensive. It costs a lot of money. Have parents got this money to be taking their kids to sort all their teeth out, to be taking them to you know, hospitals or doctors to to get all this sorted? And Valerie, a question for you. Do you think it's the kid's responsibility? Do you think it's teacherresponsibility to educate them about sugar? Or do you think it's parents responsibility? Who do you think is responsible for this, Valery, to make sure kids don't eat too much? I think it's the people, the person who invented tweets. I'm people won't even know there's this one sweet and they won't even eat this. I think this is a good point because adults can be addicted to it as well, right? Like it it does make us feel happy, makes us feel good when we have a treat. Let's be honest, I cream cake, love it. You know, we all enjoy a sweet treat and we're taught when we're kids and then you're adult. So the inventor, what about you, Alex? Do you agree with Valerie? Or do you think do you think the teachers should educate better? Do you think parents should control what they're eating? What do you think I think we're keeping in myself south parents davand women, kids should do it. Not so when people do need to worry. As for invenentor, agree. But do you expect my inventor, I invented it to make money. I didn't invented it for full benefits. So I don't expect my inventor to do it. So I think. What I just said is better. I think you've got weight there. That's a good point to make. That's a good rebuttal, isn't it? The inventor is someone who's invented this and is to blame, Valerie, 100%. Especially in the, like I say, in the older den days, they were putting poison chemicals in these suweets and people didn't know that. You're right, Alex. The inventor doesn't care. The inventors made money. Why are they gonna to stop making the sweets? They're not gonna to educate you on it. They're not gonna to say doneat it. They're going to say, yes, look how shiny and lovely it is. Yeah, and well done you too. I thought yoube a great tea. Good, you are. Okay, let's so look at this one. I'm very strict with the amount of sweets that I let my children eat. I'm well aware how bad sweets are for their health, so I only let them eat sweets to treat. That means they perhaps have a packet at the weekend, otherwise I will give them fruit as a snack. Okay, Alex, what do you think about this mum? A little overfoods for a snack. Some foods have a wide amount of sugar, so I think she might be careful, but some fruits probably have more sugar in it than some. I didn't know her story in English, but my dad said it was my sugar. If you rather eat it, well, I'd rather eat a sugar he buys. Oh Yeah. Okay. So some natural sugar could be too much for us, maybe also addictive. I mean, I do love an apple, a Valerie, what do you think? Do you think this parent's correct? Or do you think they're strict enough? Do you think they need to go further? Well, I think but but I don't really, I think they should actually also say, I think they shouldn't actually just give them fruits because if you have no that kids, you to eat two fruits and three vegetables a day. But she did not say it right here. So I think she she should give her her children some vegetables. Okay? So also vegetable, you think, do you reckon instead of the pket of sweets, do you think it should be that she should go further? It should go further with the vegetables and the fruit? They should have like a special occasion like Christmas and then they can eat some sweets. Okay? So this is quite good. So Alex is sort of saying, Yeah, I think I think a treat on the weekends, okay, this is quite strict, you know could be a bit over protective this this sugar in lots of other things. But Valerie, you're saying that actually the treat is only Christmas or New Year or Easter. So actually it's only an event for you that you think we should have sweets. I think this is a very big point, you know, is it that we should be only having it? Yes, Valerie. Well, I also think that like if she like probably in her exam she got 84Marks, but then she got 96, I feel like she could eat like some sweets. So and except for you, you really have to work for the suite. You feel like this treat has to be something that is or exceptional situations. That's what we call it. So if you've got 100, then that's and then it motivates you perhaps to have a suite. Yes, it's the do you think it's the motivation? Whereas I suppose if you have them only on weekend it's a given isn't it? You know it. I know I'm gonna get sweets on Sunday, okay? And then Alex is saying no, actually sweet a week. That's okay. That's quite nice. Keeps you in a balanmoderation. Very well done. Excellent. I love my. So we're going to think about today's sweet ites. Do you things we've just talked about this do you think have stricter? So think about that in your debate today as well. Remember, we do not interrupt. We allow everyone to have their time to speak. You will have time to prepare your speeches. Yeah use notes. You might want na ask your fellow opposer a question. You might want to rebuttle after your argument. The yes valeriet. Sorry to diinterrupt chairman. Oh, see it again. Valerie who's the chairman today? Today will be me. I will chair today but a Valerie next week we might start because there's two of you now. So what we'll do is we might start getting everyone to have a chance of being a chair. I think you quite enjoyed that the last time we did it. So we will do that but not today. Okay, but I promise you that we will definitely have the backers chair at some point. Yeah, 100. So but today, so Alex is going to go on the affirmative team. He's going to say yes, only on weekends is okay, a balance, a moderation? Valerie is going to say, no, we should ban it all together. We should get rid of sweets, not have them at all. Yeah. Okay, some things that I would like you to get into today's debate. Okay, building those debates because Alex, your last debate was your best yet. Okay, the structures were boylliant. I want you go further. Think about things as far as far as I I'm concerned. Personally, think about a few reasons today. Yeah try and think about three reasons for your argument. Maybe get an example. So Alex, you've talked about an example already today. For example, my classmate has eaten too much sugar and clearly has a problem with his teeth. Yeah, painful. Does it look great? Looks rotten, looks broken, but want na look like that? Yeah. So think about those kind of examples. Valerie. Valerie, your strong point today has all been about this idea that actually it should be earned. There should be a motivation. We shouldn't have sugar, really, in all honesty, it should only be if we've got 100% or we've got Christmas or we've got New Year. Yeah, you're talking about those dangers of it. What can happen if we have them regularly? Yeah, Alex, your great word today. More diration. Yeah things in balance is going to be a good argument for you and for you, Valerie. We are looking at this idea of sort of, you know the I would say motivation. Yeah you want to use it as a motivation, as a tool to reward. Yeah. Okay. We're going to give you some time to prepare. I know, Alex, you normally prepare before class. So maybe just have a look at your debate, Alex, and think to yourself, what else can I put into there? What else might Valerie say that I might want na rebuttle in mind? Yes, Alex, actually, I like to prefair when it's actually time debate when I like to, I like to prepare when I'm debating you like you like to do on the, I know you were as I, but I want you to think about preparing because it's very important, Alex, because if you're on a team, your team would expect you to prepare. So make notes, think about examples, and you can use your time. Think about what Valerie might say. But Alex, think about what Valerie might talk about. Think about questions you might ask Valerie at the end of the debate. Okay, so we'll need to give Valerie definitely some preparation times for six minutes to prepare. Alex, look at that speech. Check what you're talking about. Think about what Valerie might say. If you've got time, ank, use maybe an expert. Have you got a quote from someone you can use? This scientist said, Yeah, this is how you build it. Alex, okay, also use your parents. If they're in the background, ask mum. Yeah, or dad, or maybe they've got a quote you want to use. My mum has said that if I eat too many sweets, this could happen. Yeah. And what I'll do is I'll also put up for you down here is some of the notes you've made today. There we go. So you can have those as well. Like I say, moderation for you, Alex, motivation for you, Valerie. Think about maybe someone you could take a quote or maybe one of these parents, you can use those in your debate if you wanted to. Three minutes. I two and a half minutes. In one minute, Alex will be going first as the affirmative candidate. Yes, Alex, can I be your chair next time? Well, Alex, we'll do that next week, I promise. Yeah, next week we'll do chaering. Yeah. We'll prepare both sides to have to prepare both sides of the debate for that to happen. Yeah. Chair today. Can't do today. I'll please, please come then. Sorry. Next week, I promise. I'm sorry, Alex. Sorry. Sorry. I'm please I can't today, Alex, because nobody back it's not bad next time because it's not we need both of you to have prepared a debate Yeah I've also got to pair are a debate for us to do the so right next week Alex I promise Yeah I'll give you time to prepare both sides and then we'll do the chai promise Yeah I'm so keen that you guys like chaering, which is really good because it's a huge part in debating. So I'm glad that you're enthusiastic to do it. Don't wanto discourage it. But not today. Okay. But I promise next week, I'll put it in me diary. I promise we'll do next week. Okay, let's get our debate today started. So Alex, you will have up to three minutes. Don't worry if you don't get to three minutes. If you do, amazing. Okay, put your argument across. Then Valerie will put her argument of cross, and then I will open the floor to rebuttals and questions. Okay, right, Alex, candidate on our affirmative team today. Our motion today is should kids eat sweets only at weekenalex? Your time for your debating team starts now. In my to few. You can't eat sweets on the canfirst three, because if they eat three to all day, then it's bad for your body. So I think we should eat sweet on the weekend. And also if it's sweet on the week, sometimes you get up to three and don't listen to class. And when you don't know what your teacher is talking about, and sometimes we, the questions, if you can see them, then it's harto feel. I have also fit. That if she didn't t any sweets where you don't have any energy, you need energy to walk, talk and even you all need energy. But if it don't eat sugar, then you have no energy and you can control it so that you don't eat too much. And also when you've already eaten sweets and when you not about to eat anymore, sometimes you get a little sad. But if you just eat a little bit and when you don't get sad because you get to eat it, but its body is still okay because it just ea little and not often. In conclusion. Inconclusion, I think eating sweet on the weekend is okay. Well, but Alex, that was amazing. You've just done two full minutes. Alex, do you know your last debate was a one minute 30? You built that 30s, remember? Alex, in conclusion, it just tells us you finished your debate. Yeah. So we know that you've come to the end. It's a great way of telling the examiners, Yeah, I finished my debate. All right, Weldon, Alex, really impressive. Some very good points, at least three or four in there. What a huge leap forward. Okay, right, Valerie for the negative team is coming to rebuttle Alex on the affirmative team. So speaker Valerie, your time starts now. Well, I disagree with Alex, because kids that eat, eat sweets or like any day theyeventually have diabetes, cancer, depression and stress. Instead, we should focus on nutrition. Well, a person said, without frequent sugary treats, kids are more likely to eat nutritious meals during the week. And if kids know sweet or only, or they are allowed to eat sweets, they might overeat them if they have access to them. Well. Well. A time ago, Queen Elizabeth I, she was a sugar addict, but and her tea were like very black. And a lot of people also ate a lot of sugar long time ago. But now it's, we are not in the queen of Elizabeth erso. That means we should actually eat less week and and we should focus on having clean teeth. So so. A person for person, I think I think that we we shouldn't eat too much, too many sweets on we shouldn't eat sweets on the weekend. Valerie, thank you very much. Again, Valerie, a huge increase historical research in our debate. This is getting serious. Very, very well done. Okay, we're open the floor now to any questions. Okay. So Alex or Valerie, do you have a rebuttal or a question for your opposing team? Yes, affirmative team Alex. He said that if you each man sweet ats, you get stressed. But if I don't eat a little tle, then it isn't too many. Oh, well, I said, if kids eat sweets like just like even a little, they will eventually have stress. And the the other things that mention three, I am searching, I thought, but if you eat sweet, it eventually gets developed because it's transported into energy. And energy doesn't last forever, even did, then I don't think I will need to eat anymore. Well, you can also eat, they're more healthier than sweets. And fruits also have some sugar. So you, I could eat like you, I mean, fruits instead of sweets, but but some fruits have a lot of sugar and it gives me a lot of energy. And sometimes some sweets don't have a lot of sugar. But actually it does have something that's christature, but I didn't know its name, not in English, but it gives about less energy. So if you eat the same amount, it's sweeter. With the gribut, it doesn't give as much energy, so you won't get stressed. You want to be Buttle and Valerie and she's on the move. She's on her trolling. I think we collect drink energy drinks, okay, there's some drings that they don't have sugar. I have heard there's no gluten in it. So so I can also get more energy from the energy drinks also drink or I can also eat energy. They also give me energy. Okay, okay, what are you going to say to Alex midgy? Treats also have a sugar in ating actually energy things are known for sweet ites too. Okay, well done. Well done. Yeah, I think where we were going at this valif, I'm just if I'm correct in saying you're sort of saying we can have drinks with no added sugar, so actually we can have Coke Zero when Diet Coke, which wouldn't it would have what's called glucose in them instead, which is no sugar, but the glucose can be just as bad. Yes, Valerie. Actually some people have actually tested that. By the way, coke is not an energy drink. K and Coke Zero actually has been proof that they was sugar. This is shocking news. Yes, Alex. Me but I don't quite think that's exactly sugar because it gives up less energy so it doesn't give you as much stress as sugar, but it doesn't say but that's and sugar. So I don't quite think it's exactly sugar. Yes, it well, it depends it depends on what's in it. But what Valerie saying is, is that they've proven that even Coke Zero that should have no sugar in it does have sugar in it. And wow, and very, very, very, very, very well before I tell you who was won today's debate, because we sort of to come to the end, which is crazy, is first of all, what I want na say is it was interesting, Valerie, that you took a different take on this motion. It would have been easy to say we should be eating lots of sweets Yeah and kind of gone to battle with Alex talking about that idea. But actually it was nice to hear you talking about it from we should ban it all together. Valerie. Good things, really good things. Okay. Terminology. You use an expert opinion. You use nutritional, which was great to hear. You use this idea of research with Elizabeth I and the background that you thought about and then you compared today to then. I liked that things for me. I also personally you used personally in it. So you used the new sentence, which was brilliant to see. Valerie, the only thing I would say, valis, you miss out in your speech to make it a bit longer. First of all, speak a little slower. Yeah, it's okay to speak slower. Make every word land. It's a performance as well. Yeah. So that will stretch your time. And thing was, you talked about it being an occasional thing we could have, but you missed that out in your debate. So make sure when you're thinking about all your ideas, try and put them in. Yeah I mean, you'll have more time to prepare in a formal debate. But weldone Valerie, Alex, your big things today. Yeah you've thought about so many reasons. You've come up with these really great structures. The way you're presenting it now, Alex, is so much better. You've got bigger timing in here. You've got this idea of using a rhetorical question. You you gave an example of what could happen to the sugar Yeah for you, Alex, my next thing for you is a bit of research. We need a little bit like a bit like Valerie used we want you to use that kind of research expert opinion. It makes it your argument much, much stronger. Yeah but so many good things today and you two together was really good. That rebuttal at the end, neither one would give up. So wow, wow, wow, that's this is a hard one today. Okay. I've made my decision by the tiniest win or I'll I mean, the tiniest win, today's winner. It's going to. Valerie, well done. It's come from the Elizabeth I. Valerie, so well done. Well done. Congratulations. But Alex, that was so close. You rebuttle today was fantastic. You're such a good rebutler. Alex, Valerie had time coming back at you, and you guys are incredible. Really, really, really well done. So next week, think of reasons for both sides. Okay, so then we can also do chaso. What we'll do is we'll start with someone being the chair, so we'll have something like this. And then what we'll do is we'll all swap round, okay? And it will happen like this. So you'll have to do two arguments, okay? So make sure that you've thought about both sides of this argument and then everyone can get a chance at chaering. Okay? Children should have part time jobs in the summer holidays. Think about it. And thank you so, so, so, so, so, so much. Have a wonderful week, Valerie and Alex. Well done. A huge achievement from both of you today. Fantastic debating. Bye bye bye e.
