How are you? Fine. Thank you. Yeah. What have you been up to this national holiday? And nothing really much. I just had like a love classes. A lot of lots class. Did you go anywhere or did you stay at home? I just stayed at home. Just stayed at home. That's okay. There was this to sometimes rest alyou've provided, did it? And what have you been up to? Alice, what have you been doing? I, to Japan. You went to Japan. And what did you do in Japan? I went to the Mount Fuji and Tokyo. Wow, I've always wanted to go to Japan. Alice, can you take me next time? Can you take me in a suitcase next time? I want to go. Oh, my goodness, that sounds amazing. I love that. Hi, Bruce. How are you? Or if you're saying anything ever. Yeah and what did you do for your holiday, Bruce? I traveled to Xinhao. You traveled and what did you see when you were traveling? I see old houses. Oh, that's really cool. Did you learn any history? I know, but I see A A man standing on a car. Oh my goodness. That sounds dangerous. Bruce. That sounds dangerous. Okay. Oh, like a statue. And hi, Alex. Oh, where have you gone? Please don't hide. I won't. I'll be so sad. Alex, how are you? Alex, are you having a good day? Yeah, I can't hear you. You're on mute. Hey, what have you what have you been up to today, Alex? Nothing, sleeping, playing on your phone. Playing computer games, sit again. Nothing. You're just staring. You're just sitting and staring. Were you punching your punching bag behind you? Well, welcome all of you. I went so from the godwith. Capras are off. Should we have everyone in class? So I can see you and I know you're there. Where are we? Alice? Valerie, Bruce, Alice, where are we? We in class are for you. At right today we are going to be thinking about different styles of debating. Okay, so Valery, what kind of debates can we have? Can you give me one xford Oxford style debating exit, which we've been already doing? Weldone, Valerie, perfect. Alice, can you give me a style of debating? Oh, you're on, muat. I foroh that's okay. Let's think about places that you debate. When do we debate? Alice, they don't mean to be formal. Well, who might we debate with? Maybe you have like a question. You have two is new debate. Excellent questions with your friends maybe. Yeah, well done, Alice. Exactly what it is. Alice, Alex, who else can we debate with? Who else can we debate with Alex? Let's put the camera back on you. Let's sit up if we can. There we go. Thank you very much. Who else can we debate with Alex? Good good parents, teachers Yeah excellent parents and teachers. Beautiful Victor. Where else might we debate or what might we debate about? Oh, you're mute, Victor. Hey, maybe ate debate about. Debate about cats. Cats are better or dogs are better. Well done. Debate about different topics like animals. Well, remember membered Victor, perfect. What else can we debate about? Or who else can we debate with? Debate with is red color is red color, color blue. Well, don't we get debate about colors, about things we like or don't like? Yeah, Alice, you've got your hand up. What are you going say? You're on mute, Alice. A college debate and tion college debate competition. Absolutely. Yeah very well done. We can also debate laws remember in parliament as well as the debating is a huge lots of debating around the world but we're gonna to have a look some of these so he began the Oxford style format works. There is one stated resolution. One side argues for the motion, the other side argues against that motion. They can interrupt each other during those sections, but then there is a time for rebuttal. And finally, a closing summary statement. That style requires the candidates to go in deep, to develop their ideas, to defend their positions, to attack their opponent's positions. But it's all about substance. Is it even possible to learn about a candidate's policies in a two minute statement and a 30s rebuttal? We voters deserve better. So as we've been practicing ourselves, we give a affirmative agree, gives their point, opponents against, give their point. Then they can rebuteach other with questions, with statements, and then they can say in conclusion, okay? And the chair meets is someone who will make sure that everybody gets to be heard and then audience can also ask questions. Okay? So here we have the government has an opening government, Prime Minister, deputy Prime Minister, and we have a closing government, member of parliament, government whip. And then we have an opposition leader of the opposition, deputy leader of the opposition. So that's the other side, the ones that disagree and then closing opposition, member of opposition and Opposition Whip. So they're going to persuade you. They're going to convince you of their argument. So let's have a look at this. British parliamentary debate is the style of debate modeled after the traditions of the British parliament. The motion, which is what we call the topic that is being debated, is stated in the format this house, dot, dot, dot. For example, this house would ban phones, or this house believes that food should be free. These can be abbreviated as thw or thbt. There are no limits on what the motion can be, so debaters could be debating anything from law and justice to economics or art. There are two sides, government and opposition. Government supports the motion and opposition opposes it. There are four teams of two, two teams on each side. Each team is assigned to a position. There's opening government, opening opposition, closing government and closing opposition. Each speaker also has a name, an opening government. We have the Prime Minister and the deputy Prime Minister in opening opposition. We have the leader of opposition and the deputy leader of opposition in the closing government. We have the member of government and the government whip in closing opposition, we have the member of opposition and the opposition width. The order that the speakers speak in is Prime Minister, leader of opposition, deputy Prime Minister, deputy leader of opposition, member of government, member of opposition, government whip and Opposition Whip. Only one of the four teams will win, meaning that teams that argue on the same side are still competing against each other. The first, second, third and fourth place are decided by one or more judges. The head judge is called the chair and the other judges are called panelists. Prior to the debate, teams are randomly assigned to their positions. Sometimes the motion is released in advance, and sometimes it is revealed just before the debate. In the second case, teams only have 15 minutes to prepare their arguments, and speakers in each team can only confer with each other, not with anyone from the other teams. Digital devices and access to the Internet are also not allowed during prep time. During the debate, each speaker has seven minutes to speak. The opening government defines the motion, provides arguments for their side in the second speaker, rebust arguments made by the other side. The opening opposition rebuts the opening government's arguments, and then they provide arguments for their side. The closing government provides further arguments in favor of the motion that are different from, but consistent with, arguments made by the opening government. The second speaker then summarizes the entire debate on behalf of the government side. The closing opposition provides further arguments against the motion that are different from, but consistent with, arguments made by the opening opposition. The second speaker then summarizes the entire debate on behalf of the opposition side. So, Victor, why do you think we have to have two sides to an argument? Why can't everybody just agree with the motion? Why do I need someone to fight the other side? Because this this is. Why can everyone not just be on the government side? Why do we need an opposition? Why do we need someone to disagree? Because because 11 thing always have have two sides, not not not only have agree, but also disagree. Excellent. Well done vicyes Alice. So like you need so it's you cannot so a debate is called like two different group debating so if you have one group you can't do you can't you can't debate Yeah excellent Yeah we got if you only got if you're all gonna agree on one side we're not debating anymore we're just making a motion Yeah we're just agreeing with what it is yes finally you had your hand up what were you gonna say? Oh, you're on mute, Valerie. Same debate this word debate wouldn't even exist 100 and in government as well. Worlds and all of you fantastic answers. And the other thing is is in debating in government Yeah in big law, debating otherwise in our country, in the uk doesn't happen in all countries. But in the uk, it means that a government can't make a law or make a decision without thinking about all sides of an argument. Which is why if you end up on the side that you don't agree with, sometimes you have to think about that side of the debate, whether you like it or not, because we always have to think about which what is the whole argument? Yeah. We've got to think about the ball of the argument, not just one part of the argument. And if we've got, some time later, I will actually show you someone in a real life debate. But we'll see how far we get because I want your guys debating more than I want there debating today. So real life debates. Yeah as we've said, house of commons motions, rules, mp's skills, points must be relevant to the topic. Yeah. If it says should we bound scuniform, you can't talk about cake because that would be weird. Provide evidence. Have you got examples you can use? What personal opinion do you have? Maybe you think about something and put aside those personal views at times, though, and think objective, even if especially if you're on a side of an argument you don't agree with. Rebutattles, make notes you might want na rebuttle someone. Yeah, you've said this. I don't agree or okay. However, have you thought about this? Yeah, make it really clear you're rebutattling them. Speak clearly and concisely in the time that is given today's debate. Do you have to win to be successful? Mm, so, Alisa, shaken head, Bruce, what do you think if I gave you this notion? What what's your first thoughts? Do you have to win to be successful? No, you need to beat me. Joyou need to enjoy it rather than just win it. Okay? Why do you think I don't need to win to be successful? Because if you don't win, you can go and. Read taxes and then on you can have you can't, and then you can go and win. You can grow and win x. Sometimes failing is also as a successful prinple. Alex, what do you think about this motion today? If you're talking Alex, you're on mute. What do you think, mii? I think if you try hard, you'll always succeed. You will always succeed, okay? So it doesn't necessarily mean if you win, it just means if you're working hard. Love this, Alex. That's a really good one. What do you think, ferie? What do you think? Do you have to win to be successful? No, some people, some famous people are like Walt Disney. I mean, jke, Yeah. Well, Disney didn't, was very famous, but had a lot of failures. But then he made Disney, even though I love people, rejected it. Excellent. Well, they did like him very much, to be honest. Valery, that was half his problem. He wasn't very likable man, Walt Disney, but he made mikable films in the end. Yeah, well done. Great opinion, Alex. What do you think? I think you do not have the win to be successful. And why? Because like if you win, you need to try your best. Then it can be you like go better, better, better. And you and you might like go got better than you ever did. So you need to try to to try your best so you can be successful. Yes, I love that. Yes, well done. Excellent. However, Victor, I know you want to be Victor. Don't worry if it's too difficult to answer while you're walking, but Victor, let's take an athlete. Okay? Let's take an Olympic athlete. Surely they have to win to be successful. You can't come last and be a successful athlete. Do you think there are situations we have to win to be successful? Don't we? Don't have to believe successful meaning, because because if you want to win, you want, but in this competition, you don't win, you will you will be maybe really, really angry. So. So in the future, you don't want to enter any competition, put you off. Yeah, that's a really good point. If I don't win, and I think that's the only way to be successful, maybe I went enter another. Well done, vicm, we went into that lift. But Alice, Alex Bruce felery, if I'm an athlete, I have to win to be successful, don't I? I can't be a successful athlete coming last place in the hurdles and my swimming like, don't I have to win then to be successful? How you no matter if you're willing that so you think even an athlete could be successful without winning? Okay. What do you think, Alice? Do you think an athlete can be successful without winning competitions? No, no, I don't think so either. I think I think there are certain career, certain jobs where winning is part of it, right? You've got to win to be a good athlete. You can't be you can't keep coming last. That's I mean, yes, it's nice to take part, but to be a successful athlete, you've got to you've got to win. What other situations, Valerie, do you think maybe winning success like perhaps think about pop stars or something? Isn't is there certain jobs where you have to win to be successful? Okay, why do you think this? Some athte athletes didn't, didn't win first place as step, like second place. They still, they is still working, very successful. Hey, interesting. Wildone, Valerie, I like that. You rebutttled me there. Bruce, what do you think? Do you not think that there are jobs? Let's think about a pop star. Don't I have to be at the top of the chart? Don't I have to be selling the most records to be successful? No, because you wanted to be successful. You didn't give other people chance. The people had chanokay. That's going to be a problem, isn't it? Okay, love that. Okay, Alex, what are you doing with your keyboard? So is winning everything this year. England played in the World Cup semifinals in 1990. They didn't win Yeah sorry, in 2018. And they didn't win. But everyone still thought they were a hero. They still thought they were successful. Yeah. So you don't get anywhere by being nice to others. And failure is not an option. If you're not going to do something, youbetter know that you're going to succeed before you do it. Otherwise, it's a waste of time. Why bother applying for jobs if you know someone better is applying already? Why take part in a sporting event where the teams you are playing are better than you? Winning is about success. You cannot be successful unless you win. I'll avoid any situation if I know I won't come out on top. Who agrees with this person? Hands up if you agree with this person, or a big thumbs down if you disagree with this person. A thumbs down. They've got loads of thumbs down. Oh, Bruce is down. A valis down, Victor's down. Okay? No one agrees with this, okay? A positive outlook and enthusiasm is just as important as the desire to win. Even if we don't succeed immediately, we can take failure as an opportunity to learn and improve for next time. It could be a World Cup semifinal or a job interview. The logic is the same, you can be successful even if you don't win. Reflect on what went well and ask yourself what you can do next time and put those steps into action. That's real success. Then the winning will come. Who agrees with this one? Yme, I believe this. Yeah this is much better. Absolutely. And so we're gonna to be putting us we'll do something a little bit different today. Okay, but again, rules apply. No interrupting. Yeah don't need to whisper over each other. Raise your hand afterwards if you've got questions for certain teams. Okay, so presenspeak slowly as well. So do you have to win to be successful? Now you're all gonna want to be on the affirmative team? I know because that's the arguments that we've got today. So for example, I don't agree. Mistakes and losses can also help people learn from their mistakes. Mistakes and losses can help people have the right attitude of being successful. Winning, agree. Winning can help people to achieve their potentials. Winning can help people get an ideal job. Winning makes you confident in your abilities. So we're going to do something different because everyone's going to want to be on the affirmative team. So what's going to happen today is Alice, you will start on the agree upof the team. And Valerie, you will begin on the disagree side. Okay, stay with me. Don't worry, Valmy, you'll get a chance to be on the agree team as well I promise don't worry you are gonna to be don't way Alex you're gonna get the chance to swap this is what's gonna to happen and then Alex, Bruce and Victor you will have a very important job you are going to be the panel okay and you are going to decide if Valerie or Alice have win the argument okay? So we're going to put you all onto the screen here. And then what's going to happen is Alice will then become part of the panel and Valerie will move over to the agree and Alex will become on the disagree team. And then will happen is everyone will move along. Valerie will then go on to the panel. Alex will end up in the agree, Bruce will end up in the disagree. Okay? And you'll keep moving round. So you will only speak okay for one and a half minutes each one and a half, only one and a half minutes because you're going to be talking on both sides. I want to get round to everyone and I'm going to give you some time to think about both sides of your arguments. You're gonna to be, you're gonna to be arguing on both sides. You're gonna to move around, you're gonna to get a chance to be a panelist and you're going a chance to disagree and a chance to agree. Okay, so let's make sure I can put everyone back on their screens here because I'm gonna need that in a minute. So we need some time don't we to prepare okay? So remember you're going to be making an argument for disagree. You're going to make an argument for agree as well. You will speak for one minute to one minute 30 for each side. The panel I will not be deciding today. The panelists will decide you can ask extra questions. So here's the agree. So some of the ideas of agreeing with it. And here are some examples of the disagree to help you. I'll put both of those now onto the board here for it so you can see them side by side. You are making two arguments. Remember that you're preparing to be on the agree and the disagrees. You need to prepare two little debates. Okay? So you can use things like in my opinion. Firstly, secondly, in conclusion, Yeah think about examples that you might use. Okay, we're not going to have a huge amount of times. I want to get as much round of talking as we can. So I'm going to give you three minutes to make your notes for both sides of your argument. You'll have time as a panelist. Alice. Valerie, you are gonna to go first. Alice, you will start on the agree. Valerie, you will start on the disagree okay but Alice you will be on the disagree later on everyone will get a chance to be on both sides yes Alice I like the so you agree that winning can be successful winning is successful Yeah Yeah so you're doing your but you'll get a chance to disagree Alice as well I promise Yeah gonna get both sides okay three minutes get your notes for both sides remember you're fighting on both sides today three minutes starts now you could do it Alex. You can write it on your phone if you need to alalex. You can write it on computer. You can write it in the chat if you want to. You can use these to help you them Yeah. I'm loving Valerie's pen that looks a very exotic pen. I would have this I right have any paper. What is the question? Question is, do you have to win to be successful? Which 1:00a.m.I gonna go first on? Oh good question Alex. You will probably you'll be on the disagree first. Disae, yes, finally. Am I going on the disagree? You are going on the disagree first, Valery. And then you will also argue on the agree as well. You'll be doing both arguments. Yeah but we're not going to be speaking for that long on either side. So don't feel like you've got to make massive speeches. They're a minute to a minute and a half, okay? I think Alice has got the hardest job to go first on the agreteam, but then it will be done, Alice, and you will need to go there again. Okay, we've got one minute. Just make some notes. Yeah. Like I said, the panelists will have a little more time than Alison and Valerie. Use those notes on the board to help you think about that. It's more about persuasion and using those structures well or rhetorical questions. Yeah giving examples of your opinion. Yeah for me, we're learning. If it doesn't go up perfectly, that's okay. It's the first time we've done it when we're fighting on both sides. And remember panelists, it's about listening to each other. When we're a panelist, you a gay bruise. Make got 20s, so I'm going to bring everyone down. I'll leave these notes on the board for everyone though. Ten 98763. 21 okay right we're gonna bring Valerie down. I love your pencil pen. Valerie that's so cute. I love it. Absolutely love it. Okay, right valeries over here. Alice is over here. Okay, we're gonna get everyone into place. Do not worry. Yeah it does not matter. Okay, it's your first time doing this. You'll will get easier and whatever and I'm going to leave these on the board for you. So if you get stuck you can use the the stuff that's on the board. So Bruce, Alex, Victor, you are our panelist. You are going to be voting you might have a question for Alice and Valerie, you might want na ask them, okay, so it is up to you to make sure you're listening because we're gonna to be asking you to vote. Okay Alex, you will be going first. Are you ready? You're going to do amazing, okay. Okay, ready? Okay, Alice, your time starts naf. In my opinion, I think winning is successful. Firstly, I think if you like, if you need to have goals, if you have goals, you can win. So you need to try. And winning can help people to eve their potentials. Winning can. And secondly, winning can help people to get a deal job. Silly, winmakes you in your abilities. In conclusion, dear inconclusion, in conclusion, I think winning can make you so. Exit Oh, I need to put myself as a panelist as well actually, because I'll have questions. Okay, let's move everyone over so I can get on there, right? Valerie, your time to counter argue against a lovely Alice here. Are you ready, Valerie? Okay, your time starts now. Well, I disagree with Alice. Well, in my opinion, some famous people had multiple three years, but people still love them and and still it's still, they were still successful. And a success, I mean a success is personal success means some people might think, if I, they might not even like like I have a goal to be in third place instead of first place. And I got into third place and still I am successful. Conclusion. In conclusion, I think. Because an I think. I think I. You don't need I don't need to win to be successful. Yeah. Well, the following ery excellent. Okay, we're going now open the floor. Okay, so that means you can ask anyone a question. So I've got a question for Alice. Alice, you you talked about this ideal job that people can get if they win. And can you tell us what ideal job do you think people can have if they win all the time? Like you can have like if you're asked what you can have, like you may have, you may get the top of the world maybe. Okay. So maybe that one, maybe that one is very good for you and that is you try and you can win a visa. Worlbest world's best. Okay, brilliant. Thank you very much. Alex for your for your thing. Alex, Bruce, Victor, do you have a question for Alex or Valerie? Any questions? No questions. And Valerie, I've got one for you very quickly. You said winning isn't necessarily important, but don't we need to win some things to be successful? But repeat that question again. Yeah, you said winning isn't everything, but don't we have to win some things to be successful? Well, well, if you win in your mind, you think if you already here and you got her place and then you think, Oh, I already won because I already got a bronze medal, so it still counts already. Okay, well done. Thank you very much, both of you. Fantastic arguments. Okay, Alex, Bruce, Victor, it's your time to vote. Panelists, it's time to vote. So can we have a hands up if we think Alice on her agree side did the best debate in one? Arthur galley did really well. Oh, okay. Me who thinks that a Valerie is correct? Who agrees with Valerie's argument? Bruce? Okay, so we've got all active to Victor went for for ck twice and Weldon it was three votes to two votes as Victor did two. So Weldon Alice you have won the round. Fantastic. Well that okay let's move some of us around. Let's bring Alex down. We're gonna bring Alex down onto the disagree size. I said you're gonna go first there but let's put valeriup here. Victor I'm gonna ask you to be on the agree side for this one. So Valerie and Alice you are now going to be on the panel so remember you might want to ask them a question so make sure you're listening. Might be questions as you want to ask them. Okay, Victor, as you on the agree side, are you ready? You want to go first? You're on mute, Victor. Okay, Victor, your time for agree starts now. I think I think when I think winning isn't successful because because first winning can help first winning can can help people achieve their, can achieve your goals. So they will really like to enter competitions. So they were enter lot. So they will be someone to be successful. Second, winning winning can help people to get an ideal job because because winning it can it can let you learn learn lots lots of thing in that. Also also like t winwinning makes you confident in your abilities. This means that the second time you enter competition, you won't be nervous. So I think winning is a cheap. So I think winning is啊,你说。Well done, Victor. Absolutely fantastic. Okay, Alex, are you ready? For your rebuttal. Okay, Alex, your time starts now. In my opinion, you don't have to win to be successful, because making losses can make you看就看那方面发。Keep going, Alex. Use what's on, use what's on the board. Alex, I want you to, I want you to build your speaking time. So use those prompts on the board. If you're not sure, you don't have successful will you don't have the win to be successful because you've always try hard. You always will be successful, successful, successful and making mistakes. Listening things and nothing can help build can let you know what's wrong and make you make you and you can learn from that loss to make you more successful. Yeah, well done, Alex. Yeah, I just want you to speak for a little bit more. That's why we need to plan it. Alex, make sure you're making this notes. Listen up please Alex. You don't need to keep hiding. Yeah you're doing amazing. Well done. Okay, I'm gonna open the floor. Bruce, Alex, Valerie, do you have any questions for either of our candidates? A Valerie does. What have you got? Valerie, please? This is from agree to suvictor. Well, Victor, what kind of pose do you mean? What kind of goals? What kind of goals do? You mean Victor means that that maybe achievement, it means what when you, when you win, you you achieve one of your, can you give us an example, Victor, of a goal you think we might be trying to achieve? Example, if you enter a competition, you really want to win and unless you you work really hard and you you you get the first place. So so this means you achieve your goal. Okay. Thank you very much, Victor. Was that all right? Alerie, are you happy with that answer? Excellent. Okay. Time to vote. Alex, Bruce, Valerie, hands up for Alex. If you think Alex convinced you in this round on the disagree side, I'm going vote for Alex and am Bruce. Okay, right. What about the disagree side? So two vofor. Alex, what about Victor? Anybody convinced by Victor? Alice was convinced by this. Oh, victors got the three votes. Well, the Victor, the agree side, there's one. Again, this is shocking. Everyone disagreed, but we're winning over here at world. And Victor. Victor, nice example. And Valerie, nice question. Yeah, Alex, much longer in your approach to your speaking. But Alex, listen Alex, let's make sure we're in the screen please. And listening. Yeah Alex, that's it. Yeah, let's come. Let's have your face in the screen please. Alex. We're all involved in listening. Yeah, right. Bruce, it's Bruce E's time. Bruce, I'm gonna give you a choice. Would you like to start on the agree or would you like to start your argument with disagree? Which one would you like to do first as you've waited so patiently? Which one would you like to do first? Bruce, do you want to do agree or disagree first? Disagree. Youlike to do the disagree first. Okay, so that means I've got to put Valerie over here. So Valerie, you're not going go on the agree. And Bruce, your arguments can be on the disagree. So Valerie is going to go first because obviously sleep she's on the agreeting. So Valerie, are you ready? Okay, Alex, we're listening. Yes. Okay, right, here we go. Right, Valerie, your time starts now. Well well. Well, I agree. Well, firstly, if I don't win, some people might be disappointed in me. They might think, I've went so many times, my feel very disappointed in me, and then you might regret me, my friends ans too. So, and if I win, I can learn a lot of things from the competition and know, what's my, my, my, my, my, my enemy, what does he do to try and win this competition? And I can I can be more confident by if it was like a talking competition, I might be more confident in talking. So in in conclusion, I think you need to win to be successful. Beautiful argument. Valwe. Love the emotional response. That was a great one. Using emotions in there. Perfect. Okay, Bruce, are you ready to battle? Valerie? Okay, Bruce, your time starts now. I believe that if people doesn't win, it's okay. Firstly, if you lose, you can ask other people questions and they can ask back. And in the second task, you can go and win it. Two, if you lose your success, because winning isn't about. Isn't about fun, it was about enjoying Thirif. You lose you, you can practice, and then you can go to the task and win. Conclusion. My conclusion is people can win or can't win. So it could be both. Oh, interesting ending this idea that maybe winning or not winning, you can do both of them. Okay, amazing. Well done, Bruce. Liyour adjectives. Bruce. Yeah. Just add more examples in there now. Yeah, that's your next goal, adding an example. Okay, we're opening the floor to analysts. Has anyone got any questions for Bruce or Valerie alisters? Go on, Alice. I don't have the question for the disagree one. Like you said, you need to ask like the people, maybe your partner, but if but what if other people don't know? I again, I didn't hear. Wait for a second, you said like, you said, you said like you need to ask some people if you don't know, but if other people don't know, how do you do? You can tell him what is happening, and then the people will look for books to help you. Then you can win. But what if you on a test or something, you can ask others this, how do you do? What does you say? Like you can talk to others? How do you do if you don't know the question answered? If you're in a test. So if you're in a test, yes. So she said, so Bruce, she said to you, if you are in a test, you can't ask people. So how do you get help? I said, if the task was already gone and you lose, you can ask people. Then you can ask people. It's not in the task. Ask people. Okay. So the task of preparation, I think, is what what he's sort of saying here, Alice, that actually you need to be prepared, but doesn't mean if you win or succeed, all you learn from the mistake. Okay, it's time, Alex. We should be in class. Please. Let's put your camera on. It's not fair if we're not listening. Part of debating is listening. Alex, let's have your Alex, let's have your camera on, please. Yes, everyone should be listening to each other. Thank you very much. Alex. We don't know what you're doing. If we have to answer your camera, we should be listening to each other. We should be asking each other questions. Okay, Alex. Alex on Victor. Hands up if you think Valerie won that round. Who's voting for Valerie? Alice is voalice is voting. Alex is voting for Valerie. What are you voting? Oh no, Victor's not. Okay. So that's two for you. Valerie, who is voting for Bruce in this round? Who thinks Bruce did the best argument? What do you think, Victor? Who are you waiting for Valerie you're going with Valerie as well. So it was two tbruise and three to Valerie and I didn't vote I been for Bruce Yeah so that's gonna be 33 so this was a draw Weldon Bruce Weldon Valerie our first draw okay now we're gonna move people round so Alex you're gonna go the greteam Alice you are now going to go on the disagree okay and Bruce, Valerie Victor think about any some questions you might want to ask Yeah think about whose argument is better and then we've only got one more round after this which will be a fight between Bruce and Victor okay Alex your agree argument are you ready? Yes again time your time starts now. If you're winning. If you can be confident with with the next with the next argument for the next competition. When you can help people get get a good job that you just. Yeah going around cleaning cleaning the street, getting a better job than just walking around and cleaning the street. Finally, it also help help people account the go and go, since they really wanted like a job. That's long time, Alex. Nice examples in there. Yeah, that was perfect. This is exactly what we wanted. Some examples. Okay, Alex, are you ready to counterargue? Okay, Alex, your time starts now. My opinion, I don't think winning can be successful because contrary to popular belief, warand succare very different animals. People tend to organization when after they have been successful and not second before. Success doesn't require competition against anything or anyone. It is a contest against ourselves. Weldon Alice so Alice I'm going to give you what really good Alice you okay well think Alice slow your speech down you have so much to say but stretch it out so we can hear everything yes so just make sure you slow their speecdown because what you say Alice is really important so I want you to slow those speeches down for me okay but really well done. Okay right we're gonna open the floor. Bruce, Valerie, Victor, any questions for Alex or Alice? Oh, Valerie's got one gone. Valerie, Alex, how how how can you help people in there? How can you help people people's goals? Now if you win, when it slide, you can it just goals they want to accomplish, like getting a better job or something, or something they want to do. Want you follow any more questions? What if you were in competition, which that person was your enemy? Oh, okay, what do you think, Alex? What if you were in competition with someone that was your enemy who didn't want to help them? What would you say to that, Alex? What if you hated that person, Alex? What if you didn't want to help them? Is what valley was asking you. Would you still help them? Do you still think it's a good plan? Or do you think that, that would be a different situation? A different situation. And Alex, let's have it. I want to say this to everybody. We need to see your faces when we're debating. Yeah, because otherwise, Alex, we can't hear you with all reforward, okay? And that means that people can't hear you clearly. Yeah. So make sure you're heard. Well done. Well, nice question, Valerie. Really, really good question. Okay, let's vote Bruce. Valerie, Victor, hands up for Alice. If you think Alice is, Oh, Bruce is vofor Alice. Valerie's vofor Alice. Okay, Victor's voting for Alice. Okay, hands up for Alex. Anyone for Alex? Breathe on. And while I've taken a handout, I've got two, one for Bruce, two for Alex, and I am going to vote for Alice. So Alice has four, Alex has two. Well done, Alice. Fantastic work. Okay, well done. All right, we're going to have our final one. So Victor is in agree e, and Bruce is in disagree our last debate of today. Okay, Bruce, are you ready? You're ombite. Yes. Okay, Bruce, your time starts now. I believe that people should win because because if we other people would, what what are you? And if you don't win, they won't like you very much. Secondly. Teacher, I don't, I haven't sink out yet. Use these, Bruce, that's why I left these. Alert the board for you. Use those to help your argument. So wining can make you or maybe this. Which ones are these going to use, Bruce? Winning can give people a job, because if you win, other people will like you and they will give you other things my go. So lots of money. Well, don't you get it inconclusion? I believe that. People should win. Yeah my fibrues is really nerve wracking. If you have to think of things very quickly, you'll get used that. Well done, Brues. A trophy for you there. That was hard and you you achieved. Well done. Okay, Victor, are you ready to counter argue for our panelist? I can't make your time starts now. I think people, I think I think wind isn't successful because first, mistakes and loses can can help people to learn from their mistakes and Vosses. It can let them have more changes from this competition and let them do do well in another competition. Second, mistakes and loses also can help people have the right attitude towards being successful. For example, if if you in in a competition, you, you when you, you don't, you do not have your correct attitude to face another to face another competition. So in conclusion, I think when when isn't just successful done. Victor. Victor, you just took on my big note of making an example and you made that beautiful very, very, very well that okay, very quickly. Any questions from the panelists? Anyone got any questions theylike to ask? Alice would like to ask a question. Okay, Alice, what is your question? You're on mute before you ask it, I have a question for the agree. We say like if others don't like you, what so so like you say others don't like you, but if you friends your are you can be kind to that and will be to you. So they so don't but so others don't hate you. Do you think Bruce. And how do you know that people don't like you? What do you think, Bruce? How do you know that people don't like you? What if you're kind to them? Surely they should be then kind to you. Because the people don't win and the people on theirs, the they don't go, will be angry because they don't win. So this idea of actually competition. Okay. Well done. Thank you very much, Bruce. Follow me very quickly. What is your question and who are you asking? You're on mute, Valerie. We can't hear. You can't hear you, Valerie. Yeah vicvictor become disappointed you didn't what if people became disappointed if you didn't win, Victor? What do you think, Victor, you are muked if your answering? If if they were disappointed, I will I will tell them about the reason the reason that that that you lose. You have lots of lots of positive things to have so you could tell them what they think. Okay? Weldone valerin Alice, what good questions. Thank you very much for asking Alex of Bruce and Victor, I want you to develop that. We need to think about asking these questions, okay? Because it's really important in debating. Okay, much good day Alex. Valerie, Alex, who's waiting for Bruce? Anyone agree with Bruce this side of the argument? Okay, Alex. Oh, and Alice, we've got two over there. Who's voting for Victor? I'm voting for Victor. I think anyone else voting for Victor? A Valerie's voting for Victor. Alice is whovictor. You got four. Well done. Excellent Excellent job. I think we've all sort of ₩1. You guys are incredible. It's hard to do that to fight on both sides next week. We're been debating next week. The more you have, the happier you are. So think about that motion for next week. Alice, Bruce, Valerie, Victor, huge achievements today, examples coming in. You're talking with much better structures. I want you to listen a little bit more. Okay? But other than that, fantastic. If you wanna watch this, do feel free. I will see you later. Bye. The.
