汤好胖汤好胖,为什么还有一这里还有一点点粉,我想加他怎么吃那么大的那个。现在在上吗呀,我。Hello, hello, good morning or good evening, should I say my nais? Jade, I'm your teacher today. How are you both doing? Whohave, I got with me. Can you introduce yourself to me? My name is Evan. Hi, Evan. It's lovely to meet you. How old are you? Evan? I'm twelve years. Twelve years old. Fantastic. It's lovely to meet you, Evan. Thank you so much for that introduction. And how are you today, Evan? I'm good. You're good. Fantastic. We're going to have a great lesson together. And do I have Carlos with me? Yeah. Carlos, where is your camera? Oh, perfect. Nice to see you, Carlos. How are you today? Good. Good. And how old are you, Carlos? You're twelve as well. Fantastic. If you would rather have your camera off, you can do. But it is lovely to see you today. Now I am your cover teacher, so I haven't taught you for lessons one, 23. Can you tell me what you've been doing in those lessons? Carlos, you have your hand. Duyou, have a question for me? We've learned we've learned exinformation text information text so far Yeah Yeah information text and some. Explanation. Explanation. Yeah so explanations in and information. So explanation text and instructional text, is that right? Yeah, yes, fantastic. So what do I mean by an information text then? What does that do for me? Gives you information. It does give you information. It might tell you how to do something or tell you why you need to do it in a certain way. So absolutely. It gives you an instruction or it explains something. It tells you some information, doesn't it? Fantastic. So our lesson today is going to be a fun lesson because we are going to design a meal for Tim. Now I think you learned about Tim peak and your last lesson. Is that right? Yes, yes. Carus, who is Tim peak? Can you remember who in space? Who in space? Absolutely. He's a British astronaut and he went to space. So you're going to try and design a meal for Tim peak, the astronaut who went to space. Now, I don't know what homework you had for your last lesson, but it does say something about hunting the features. So did you have to look for causal conjunctions and adverbials and put the language into whether it was those conjunctions, the technical vocabulary or time conjunctions? Is that what you were looking for? Yeah, yes. So Evan, give me an example of a causal conjunction. What word might be a causal conjunction? Because yes, it explains something, doesn't it? That cause and effect, this happened because of this or because of this? This is going to happen. Good, Carlos. What about some technical vocabulary that we might use today? Then have a look at the words on screen. Which one might you like to use? Automatic. Automatic. That's brilliant, isn't it? So it starts by itself, but does it by itself? Absolutely. Okay, Evan, give me a time conjunction that we might use in our explanation. Explanfirst, first, yes. So we might want to order things in chronological order. We might want to use a time adverbial first. We have to do this good. Carlos, can you give me another one? Can you give me another time conjunction or an adverbial? Before or before. So before we do this, we have to do this. Absolutely. We might use those. So have a look at these words carefully because we might come back to them later when you're inventing your meal and your machine. Okay, so our aim today, Evan, what's our aim? What do we want to do today? I can plan an explanation text. Good. I can plan an explanation text. Now, do you have this with you today? Don't worry if you don't. If you do, that might be a good place to start. So it's a worksheet that should be in your booklet. And it says planning an explanation. That's the sheet we're going to use today. See if you can find that. Do you have it, Carlos? No, pe, you don't have it. Okay, Evan, do you have this one? I'm looking forward. Okay. I think I have it. I will see if I can send it to on class. And if you don't have it later on in the lesson, what is the page number? I'm unsure of the page number, so I will just see if I can find it for you in the booklet. Let me have a look. I you have it. What page is it, Evan? Nine, page nine. 29, thank 29. Thank you. Page 29. I'm really glad you have that page, Carla. If you don't, you could use the one on my screen for now, but I'll see if I can resend that to if you don't have it because we we will need it today. So success criteria, Carlos, to be successful in planning our explanation text, what three things do I need to see today? I can are, I can discuss my ideas, providing nothing with others. I can explore the making the best introductions. I can use a checklist to help me, an exact plan for an explanation. Well, this word is producmeans to make colors. Lovely reading though. So we can discuss our ideas, what we're going to write together. We can explore what makes an effective introduction. We don't want any boring introductions. We don't want any weak introductions or one line introductions. We want to explain what our machines are going to do really well. So we're going to have a look at that today. And then we're going to use a checklist, which is in your booklet as well, to make sure that we've got a really good plan so that when we come to make this machine and explain it in our explanation text, we do it really, really well. So that's what we're going to do. Now, Carlos and Evan, I need you to use your imagination here. Imagine spending six months in space. Hmm, would you like to go to space? Can you imagine being maybe for some, maybe for something, but not for kind of like six months, not for six months. Seven, it's a long time, isn't it? What would you miss the most, do you think? Maybe some studying or some playing? Yeah, one, absolutely. Maybe family as well. Family and friends. We might miss that. It might be quite lonely. Mnick, Carlos, would you like to spend six months in. Space. Would you like to spend six months in space, Carlos? Nope. No. Tell me why not? What would be the hardest? It's too long. Staspace smotoo long. Yes. It would feel a bit crazy, wouldn't it? It would. It wouldn't feel normal. We wouldn't be able to walk like we do on earth. We wouldn't be able to eat or drink like we do on earth. Might be quite lonely. We might start to miss people might and we I wonder then, Carlos and Evan, which food would you miss the most if you were in space? Remember, you can't eat normal food in space. Later on, we're going to imagine that. We can tell me again, Evan, self service buffet. Oh, self service buffet. Now you're talking Evan. I think I would miss that too. Absolutely. Having unlimited amounts of foods and lots of different foods that you can enjoy, that would be something to miss in space. I don't think you could have a self service buffet in space, could you? For one, evwhat would be happening to all the food. It would be floating. Why would it be floating, Evan? Because no gravity. Absolutely lovely ideas. Well done, Carlos. What food would you miss the most? Everything. Everything. There's not one food that's the best for you. Oh. Pia, do you know what colors you stole? My idea. Then I think you read my mind because in my mind I was thinking pizza, pizza, pizza, pizza. I think I would miss pizza, okay? Also like chocolate Carso, I think I would miss chocolate as well. Chocolate and pizza. Okay. So we've got some examples here. What can you see here? Fooi. Can see French fives chips. Pancakes, what else can you see? Hot, hot chocolate, chocolate cake, French fries, sandwiches, fruit, maybe fresh juice? Yes, crisps, sandwiches. And this is called a kebab. Like about at meats and vegetables on it, on a skewer, on a stick. Okay, in that Bewell. And yes, you can have them on a barbecue. Carlos. Yes, we call them skewers. We call them kebabs and you can cook them on a barbecue. Absolutely right. So we need to get our creative minds working today, Carlos and Evan, you are going to design a machine or to make one special meal for Tim peek. Now, this is where we have to get creative because we know you can't really have a special meal in space, can you? But we are going to imagine using our imaginations today, we can make a special meal for Tim pebecause. Evan and Carlos, you are the most amazing space machine designers. Okay, so your machine is going to be able to make something fabulous for Tim peak. What do you think he might like? What do you think he would have missed eating? Chocolate? Chocolate? Carlos, yes, maybe the machine makes chocolate. Can you imagine a big meal just of chocolate? That would be quite funny, wouldn't it? I think it would be quite sickly after a while. Evwhat, do you think pizzpizza maybe pizza as well? Okay. I wonder, how about the British classic? Have you heard of this? They fish and chifish and chips. Have you ever tried fish and chips? Carlos and Evan, Yeah, but I never them together. You haven't tried them together. Okay. But you've had them. What about you? Tried. You've tried it. Good. Carlos, what about you? I didn't. I didn't try the fish, but did try to. I didn't try the fish, but did try the trips. Fantastic. Did you like them yet? They're quite popular around the world, aren't they? Well, in England we have we have shops that are just for fish and chips. They only make fish and chips because it's so popular. So you can go to a restaurant and you can just say, I would like fish and chips. And they do take away restaurants where you can go in and you can order fish and chips and take it home with you. Now we have quite a few of these because it's a very, very popular dish. Now it's the normal chips fried in oil, and the fish is covered in a batter, a bit like the batter they coat chicken in. Okay? So it's like crunchy on the outside. I wonder, though, how would a machine in space make fish and chips? What might the problems be, Carlos or Evan? There are no fish in other ter states. There's no fish. We can't just go and get a net and scoop up a space fish, can we? Ever? So getting fresh fish might be a problem. Tawe don't have potatoes either. We can't go out to a field and harvest any potatoes. Maybe we can grow some because they are, like I say, many, kind of like this little sun. Yes, we could. We could have, yes, we could use lamps, heat lamps, couldn't we? We could, we could try and grow something in, in, in the space shuttle. If there is the right, if there are the right conditions, we could do that. What about coping with it? What ingredient do we need to cook that food? Do you know of the oven? We do need an oven, but we need a liquid. We need a frying pan. We need to put a liquid oil, said oil, oil. We do need oil. Both of you, I think, said that we do need oil, and we need the oil to get really, really hot. What is the problem with that? Fire, fire, fire. But also if there's no gravity, what's going to happen to that bubbling hot oil? Itblow away. It will blow away. We can't have bubbly hot oil floating around us. So we're gonna have to design the machine colors at Evan that cooks this fish and chips in a way that doesn't use hot oil. Okay, now to make fish and chips, okay, usually I'm going to show you a video. I hope that I can show you this. Let me see if I can share audio. Now it's not guaranteed to work, so we need to use some magic. Here you have this. Tell me if this comes on for you. Put your hand up if you can't hear it or you can't see it. Okay? 喺九屎。We've got the frizing pan and the hot oil. We've got the cut potatoes. Feels funny. We're going to let them cook for a few minutes to their crispy golden. You've got flower rice flour. Corn flour. And baking powder. We're to add a little bit of water, give it a good mix. This is going to make our batter for the fish. Wrinkle salt to pepper onto the fish. So that's the filleted fish. No bones in this fish. So this is to make it tasty. Season the fish with spices and we're going to coat them in butter. Make sure all of that fish fillip is coated and covered, just like we did with the fish and the chips. We're going to put it into the hot oil. And this is called frying. Frying in the oil so your machine might want to fry if you're going to do fish and chips perhaps. Okay, so that's one way of making fish and chips. So if we were going to have a fish and chip machine in space, let's imagine that this is actually possible. Let's look at how that might be demonstrated in an explanation text. So Evan, imagine this is our fish and chip machine. What does the user do to start the machine? Can you read it to me? The user will need to click a search on the outside of the machine. Fantastic. So we need a way to start the machine. You might want a different way to start your machine, but this one, we're gonna flick a switch. Okay, so we've got some technical vocabulary there. We've also got some more technical vocabulary here. Evan, what is step one? This word is pneumatic. Pneumatic, pneumatic pumps release a net of fish. Good reading. Step two. Dogs turn sharblades to chopped potatoes. Well done. Lovely reading. Colus, can you read? Step three, meatravels along the convebelto a cooking chamber. When time will finish, a clock clicks the fish from a from the fryer and place it on the on chicken on kitchen paper. Good reading, good correction there as well. Okay, so we've got some technical vocabulary here, haven't we? We've got pneumatic pumps. Okay, so the air pumps release a net of fish. Pogs turn sharp blades convey about t, the belt that moves the food along. We've got timer. When the timer finishes, a claw collects the fish. So it's not completely detailed. I'm sure you could do a better one than this. There are not many steps, are there, here to tell us how to make their fish, but it does give us an example. So evwhat's, the last step that we're going to do at the same time, a hyhydraulic, that's a good word, hydraulic lever tips the chips out. Well done. So like a water lever works under water pressure, so or oil, at the same time, a hydraulic lever tips the chips out. So we've got some technical vocabulary here. We've got some steps, and we're being creative imagining that we have access to chips and fish on our space shuttle here. So how does the food come out then? How does the food come out, Carlos? How does the food come out? It comes out, it, it comes out on a, convey your belt with a to teams that it's ready. Well, does it like a timer. Maybe you have one at home that goes back. So that you know when to finish studying or when to go and do something like an alarm, isn't it? So there's a conveyoabout with a noisy timer buzzer to alert him that it is ready. Okay. I have one. Evelyn. Carlos, you have one. What is yours like at home? Carlos? It's a timer. Is it timer for one hour? Yeah, yes, I'd love to see it. And what do you use that? For Carlos, for studying. Fantastic. Yes, perfect. And does it make a noise? Carlos, yes, it it does. It does. Wow, I like that like that. It's got some color to it like that, Carlos. So that's a very cool timer. Wow, that's a really good visual timer. And it makes a noise. Maybe you can include something like that colours in your meal. Preparrer for Tim. So when we're thinking about starting our machine, we've got to be very inventive here. How could we start our machine? What do we usually do with machines to get them to work? How do you get your timer to work? Carlos? I you spin it all. That's a good verb. Spin to spin. So we could spin up. And what else could we do? We can just Press a button as we can push or Press a button. Absolutely. We could click a switch, couldn't we? Let's look at some others. Oh, Evan, you must have been a bit sidekick here because that was my first one. Press a button. Evan, what's my next one? Control? Lled, Yeah. Remote control. Do you start your machine with a remote control? Carlos, what's this one? Command to command. So like with AI, or do you have Alexa? In China, we have a device called an Alexa. And you could say, Alexa, play music and it plays music for you. Do you have a machine like that? No. So we have a, it's like a little speaker and it can play music and you you shout to it, you say, turn on, Alexa, turn on. And it turn on and it plays music for you. So you might shout, you do, Carlos. Fantastic, perfect ever. What's this? This one is class, class. So Yeah, we might, you might want to double claplaces on the things when you make some nolike clap or storyour v the yes. So you might want to start your machine with all we have matching colored cups, colors, similar color, very cool. It's my favorite color. So you might want to do a movement or make a sound for your machine to work. You might want to, like Carlos says, turn a dial. Yes, not, or turn. What about this one? Click a switch. Switch P A switch. Well done. Do you have any more ideas that we could do to make our machine work? When it sees you, it turns on Oh, so like facial recognition, evi, like that. So say Tim wants some food. He goes up to the machine. He looks at it. Oh, parlos password. You have to type in a password to get your food. I like that idea. You two are very clever, very creative. Okay, so it's going to be a little bit different, isn't it? We can' T Cook like we do at home in space, so we need to think about the preparation that might be needed. Here are some verbs that you might use in your explanation. So let's have a look at some of them. Let's do this one. What's this one? Carlos? Being shopping pping using a knife to cut the food. What about this one, Evan? Mixing. Mixing. Good. Yeah, mix something together. Put it all together, maybe with a spoon. What about this one, Carlos? Blending. Blending. Do you know this word? Blending put, but it's like mixing, but with. Sharp, sharp pieces of metal. So we put all the fruit into a blender and it mixes and chops at the same time. Yeah. Turns it into a lip quid. What about this one? Evan, stirring, stirring. That's a synonym for mixing, okay? It's the same word. When we stir, we use a spoon to mix things together. This one, Carlos, we need to use this one, I think, in our work today, cooking this one, Evan. With my melting, melting. So think about an ice cream. When we take the ice cream out of the freezer, if it heats up too quickly, we end up with a drippy liquid down our hands, don't we? That's melting. What about this one at Carlos? Frying, frying, using oil. We saw that in our video today, using oil to heats and cook something. This one, ever heating. We definitely need heat. We don't want cold food. This one, Carlos, what do I mean by slicing? What is slicing? I like coffee, but more carefully. You like cutting fruit? Yes, absolutely. Cutting really carefully. And that was a good explanation. Cutting carefully, really thin pieces. Slicing, using knife to make one cut. Okay, what about this one? Evan? Boiling is using hot water. Hot water to cook something like potatoes or rice. What about this one? Carlos? Which one? Bowling? This one's sorry, or pouring. Pouring? Yes. Getting a liquid out of a container. And this last one, oven grating. What is this grating? Do you so if you have a block of cheese, do you have a utensil that you can grind the cheese against to make tinpieces of cheese? Yes, you can do it with carrots and vegetables as well. Okay? So that's where we take a big block of something and we make tiny little pieces of it. Okay, so you might want to use these verbs on your planet. Well, I make lasagna. I can. You make lasagna? Evwow. That's really clever. That's really clever. That's amazing. And do you like to eat lasagna? Yeah, it's delicious, isn't it? So we, that's really clever. We might want to use these verbs in our writing so we might come back to them later. Okay? So we also need to think about how the food comes out of the machine. Now this is where you can be very creative. What might we do, Evan? What's the first one on the conveyor? Okay, so it might come out on a belt that moves, okay? Like on sliding shell might move that way. This is a funny one, Carlos. What's this one? Parachutes. Do you know what a parachute is? Nope. So this is a parachute. I'm not very good at drawing, and I didn't tell you that. Carlos evven, this is a parachute where when you jump out of an aeroplane and you don't want to fall to the ground, you have a big piece of like nylon or some kind of fabric that is wind resistant that will help you to keep up in the air and float down to earth safely. Okay, so this is a parachute. So you you might, your machine might parachute your pizza down in front of Tim peak. That might be quite funny. Not sure if gravity will work against that anti gravity. I don't think this is away. I think it will I don't think it will come down if there's no gravity coloff so that that one might not work. What about this one? Evan rose out on a playon els. You know, it's a little bit different. It's just on a plate doesn't Yeah, we might have to catch our food. What about this one, Carlos? Tha slicing door a sliding. Maybe your food comes through, so you've got to catch it quick before the doors close. And the last one ever, this is quite creative robot in front of our pokay. So you might have a robot on board that give you your feet. Just put it in his mouth because, Oh yes, there may be the robot. Maybe the robot feeds Tim. That would be funny. Could you think of anything else? Carlos, a robot might fly away. It might. It might. Yeah, we might have to have something. The robot has something sticky on its feet so that it sticks to the floor and doesn't fly away. Maybe that would be funny. Okay, this is where we're going to get creative. Evan and Carlos, I need your ideas. What meal are we going to make? Tim peek? And what is your machine going to look like? Okay, we need to think about how you're going to start the machine, what food preparation is going to be needed? Do you need to mix or chop or slice or blend or grate? How is it going to come out of the machine and how is it going to get to tip? Okay, so so on this sheet, I need you to have a go at drawing something for me. Now Evan, you've got your sheet with you. Do you have a pencil or a pen to draw with you? Do, Carlos, tell me, what will I do? I'm going to get you to draw it on my screen. Is that okay? Can you use your pen? Now I know it might, I might not be perfect because it's hard to draw on a screen, isn't it okay? But you could do, you could do a rough sketch. So we we're going to draw a machine to make some food, okay? So your machine might be a creative machine. It might be, I don't know, it might look something like this. It can be as creative as you like. Okay? This might have a section for slicing things. So it might have a slicer coming down the middle, okay? It could be whatever you like. It might have a conveyor belgoing all the way through it here for the food to come in and your food might come out on a plate and wheels like this. Okay, we're going to, we're going to need some proper drawing there. Cwe got scribble all the way on the screen. Okay, so be as creative as you like, but it might help to know what kind of food or meal you're making. So Evan, what do you think you're going to make? What food is your machine going to make? I don't know. I'm thinking of it. So tricky one, isn't it? Carlos? What do you think the mind printing the paper for me? Oh, perfect. That's a great idea. That would be much easier. Okay. Might take some time. That's okay. Whilst it's taking some time, then let's have a think. What would you like to make, Carlos? What food of pia pizza? Okay, so pizza. We could both go with pizza for now if you like because that might be an easy one for lasagna. Evan lasagna is a good one. We have to think through the steps carefully for full lasagna. Hmm, okay. So if we're thinking about a machine pizza or a machine for lasagna, we're going to have to think about the steps that we need as well so that the machine can do that. So pizza, we need a pizza base, okay? Or maybe it makes makes the dough. We need pizza toppings. We need tomato, tomato paste. We need cheese. You might want some meat on your pizza and it's going to need to heat the pizza, isn't it? Heat with some kind of oven perhaps. Okay. Hmm, with lasagna, we're going to need pasta sheets. What do we need? Again, we need the meat. So we we use we use minced beef in our lasagna in England, but you might want to use something else. What else do we need? Evin lasagna. And some like a tomato sauce or some onion or cheese, cheese, cheese. Yes, we need cheese. We use something called a White sauce in England as well that goes with the tomato sauce. So we layer it. So we have the meat, the White sauce, the tomato sauce, the cheese, the meat, the pasta, the White sauce, the tomato sauce, the cheese. So we might use that as well. You are right. We might want some onions, we might want some spices to taste, we might want salt and pepper perhaps, okay, and we're gonna to cook that. We need some heat to cook that, maybe some kind of oven as well to bake the lasagna, okay? So our machines need to include a way of cooking or doing something to this meal to create these things. So with a pizza base, is it going to come out, Carlos, as a pizza base already or are we gonna to have the dough that we have to roll and flatten and cut? Is it gonna to be a pre made pizza base? What do you think? Already there. Yeah already there. So the machine needs to be able to lop out the pizza base. So where is that going to come from? It needs to be able to put or choose the pizza toppings to put on. Maybe it spreads. You need a spreading department to spread the tomato paste. Are you gonna to sprinkle or chop or grate the cheese? Okay, so think about this. When we're designing our machine, that looks good to me so far. Has yours printed out? Carlos, take some time. I've got this one fish. You've got the fish and chips one. That's okay. You could use the back of that paper if you wanted to. I will send you this after the lesson as well so that you have this this copy. But this is looking good. So Carlos, just explain to me here what's this part of your machine? Is it the oven part? Yes. Yeah. Okay so that's the oven in there so that's that might have some kind of heat some kind of flame perhaps or maybe it's artificial heating element so a man made heating element perhaps you're finished as well. Evan Yeah let me have a and the conveyor about and wow and is meet and trees sprinkle down and itcontinue and that is fantastic that is I love the cheese and meat sprinkling Evan that is high five that's a fantastic job. You've got it. Collos yes, perfect. So Carlos we your homework is to make this plan better so anything that we don't finish today do not worry because you've got time to do it for homework. Okay so this is looking good colors you might want to screenshot this so that you've got this that you can transfer so you've got your oven here. Okay maybe you have like a claw you can have a claw. Carlos that brings down the pizza base and you might have a conveyor belt, a bit like Evans to drop the pizza base onto the conveyor. Beland then you might have something like Evan had here. Evan, if you put yours back up, can you show me the cheese sprinkling? Because that was really clever. She can meet and there's some that's brilliant. So you might want to have something like that. Carlos, that has cheese here. We might need, just before that, we might have a special spray machine that sprays out tomato paste onto your base. Okay. If you're doing a pizza, okay. So think really carefully about the steps that you're going to need to do to make this pizza so that we've got them all in our machine or the lasagna. Okay, brilliant. I'm going to stay on here for another 30s, Carlos, so that you've got that. But remember after the lesson, you can always watch it back and you can screenshot so that you can draw anything else on that you might need to okay. Hmm technical vocabulary. Then if you want some verbs, however, to think about the verbs we looked at today, you might want to include chopping, mixing, grating, spreading. That's using a knife or a spoon to move something around onto something else. You might want cooking, you might want heating, you might want slicing. You mentioned Evan, what moves your food along? What did we call that thing? A convey yoabout. We might want convey yoabout. So Evan, you should be writing some of these things down as well. Conveabout, okay. We might want to bake something or grill something. That's different ways of heating or cooking something. We might want a lever or a switch. We might want, say, when you're making the dough and making you of that pasta sheet, how do you say so? Do you mean to roll it flat? Yeah. Oh, Yeah. Rolling. Yeah. Rolling or roll it. Okay. We said you might want to part sword. It might be an automatic start. Tell me again. Sprinkling. That's a great word. Sprinkling. Sprinkling? Yes, we need to sprinkle that cheese. Absolutely. So these are all technical vocabulary words that we can include any causal conjunctions or time conjunctions that we might want to use. I know you did this in your previous lesson. Can you remember any that you might want to include here? Because first, Yeah we could have because as a as a as a result, consequently I heard somebody say, consequently, consequently tume again, Sequsecretly or sequently and sequently hlet me check that. What do you mean forgot sequentially? Sequentially, I don't know, like that one. So it happens in a sequence. Yeah, Yeah, maybe Yeah. Okay. Time conjunctions then before. Next, first, after that, following this. Okay, these are all words you might want to include. Can you think of any more Evan Carlos, last day, lastly, Yeah, last or lastly, finally yethirfinally. Okay. Let's make sure our explanation planning sheets are looking a bit like this, starting to get a little bit more full. Evan, what are we going to write in the top corner here? Going. Make you're going to put your food. What food are you making? Lasaglasagna, that's a funny spelling. Lasagna doesn't look like it doesn't lasagnne lasagna. And Carlos, you're gonna not gonna to put lasagna. What are you going to put? Pizza. Pizza. Okay, so it's starting to take shape, isn't it? We've got some lovely machines. We've got technical vocabulary. We've got some causal conjunctions that show cause and effect. What happens if we've got got some time conjunctions and adverbals after that? Oh, I've missed my Geoff nor to teacher following this after that last lastly firstly finally before next then okay, following this. So we've just got our title, our introduction and a summary to think about now. Title, what did it say next to the title? A question question, why does he say question? Because Oh, because it is a instructional text and it's an informayes. So it's going instruct a me. Yeah we need to like how to make how to make a lasagna? How can you make a lasagna? Yeah, how can you we want a question because it's an explanation text that is going to answer that question. So any title we have is going to tell us the answer in the text. Okay, how do you make a lasagna? How do you make a pizza? How do you make now you're not going to put three dots. You're going to put either lasagna or pizza. How do you make lasagna? How do you make pizza? Remember your question mark, because we're going to answer that in our explanation. So we've got two things left. We've got an introduction and a summary. Which one goes first, Carlos? Introduction for summary, which one is going to go first in our explanation? Introduction, how do how do you know that? What does an introduction do? You're right. What does an introduction do? It tells us what. I never forgot. Kind of forgot. That's okay. I'm I'm happy that you told me that you've forgotten because it means I can help you. Evan, do you know what an introduction is? Introduction one meaning is in the book. And there's the kind of like a French page se introduction, the introduction. Now it tells you what to do more. Yeah introduces what you're going to tell us. So it needs to tell us that this is a food machine and it's going make pizza or this is a food machine and it's gonna make lasagna, okay? So it tells a reader exactly what they're going to read about. Okay? So that is the first thing we're going to do. Carlos Evan, can you just show me what you've done on your planning sheet so far so that I know whether to move on or not? What we got so far, don't worry if it's not finished. That's looking great to me. Evan, thank you. You've got some good words down there. Super duper colors. Can I see yours? What have we got so far? Don't worry if it's not finished. Oh, great. You two are working so hard today. I am so proud of you both. Well done. So I am going to move on. But if you want to screenshot this, I can screenshot it for the end of the lesson as well. Or if you want to look back on the lesson to see this, you can. So don't worry, we're not going to lose anything. But I want you to think about your introduction. So did you do something called the perfect breakfast machine? Did you read about the perfect breakfast machine? Yes, yes, you did. Okay, so you're going to do the same but with your meal for Tim. Okay, now the perfect breakfast machine has some ideas for introductions. Now just quickly look over these and think about which one might be the best. Just have a quick look. Just from looking at them, it is quite small. The words, can you see them? Okay. Look which one looks like it's which one looks like it might be a rubbish one. Not not good enough for an introduction. If I give you the pen. Which one would you say? The third one. Yeah, Carlos is going for that one as well. Why did you both pick that one? It only talked about the perfect machine was designed by sincook. It doesn't it doesn't tell the how to make something or do something. It doesn't doesn't. It just says it was designed and it makes breakfast boring too short, right? That if I read some out to you, I want you to decide which one is the best. Are you ready? I'm going to read this first one to you. How does the perfect breakfast machine work? Do you ever wish someone else would make breakfast for you? Do you lie in bed wishing for someone else to brave the cold kitchen floor to prepare a tasty morning treat? Well, now you need wish no longer. The perfect breakfast machine is the most amazing machine you'll ever own. With a whole range of delicious breakfast meals, you'll be able to pick a different delight every day. This fantastic addition to your home comes at a snippet of the cost of ordering a cooked breakfast every morning at just 99 pounds and 95 pence. Why not buy now and receive a 25% discount? What do we think about that? I think that is not so good because it sounds like an advertisement. Absolutely high five. You are absolutely right, Evan. That one. Too much of an advert. Buy this, do this, get this, have this free. Not good enough. Okay, let's try another one. Carlos, could you read this one for me? Is it is it big enough for you to see? Bit small is a bit small. Tell you what, I'm going to bring it up on the screen down here. Let's look at. Let's look at this one. Read this one for me down here. The perfect breakfast machine was designed in 2056 by a synecook singer cook. Well done. Its purpose is to make breakfast while the user waits in bed. The company identified that many people felt felt the desire to have cook breakfast in bed, but did not wish to go all to the way downstairs to cook it. The machine uses a wireless remote to begin the process and a small build to allot t the user to the finish product. Good reading, Carlos. High five. What do you think of that one? Pretty good. So not sounds pretty good. Pretty good. Yeah, pretty good. Why is it pretty good? I would agree. I would agree. It's pretty good. It's better than the this better than the first one and the second one is better than the first and the second one. So we've got the important inflation. It was designed in 2056 by sina cook. Its purpose is to make breakfast tells us why why we need it and then it tells us how to start it. The machine uses a wireless remote to begin the process and a small bell to alert the user. Well, it's got, it's got a bit of a rhetorical question. Well, it makes us think it hasn't got a rhetorical question, but it's got the people that desito have a coobreakfast in bed, but did not wish to go all the way down stairs to, you could change that to a rhetorical question. Its purpose is to make breakfast. Okay, so it does tell us what it's supposed to do. I think that's a pretty good one. Let's have a look at these ones over here. Evan, do you feel happy to read one for me? Okay, which how about this one here? This one, how does the perfect breakfast machine? Okay, how does the perfect breakfast machine work? The breakfast machine was made to make people breakfast in bed. The user pushes the button on the wireless remote control to start the device working inside the machine. Cocks and conveyor belt starts to move they Rothe ingredient into the correct and then they begin to get heated in a special concluting chamber. Then when all the ingredients are ready, they are used out of the machine. They are pushed out. Little well, tells, tell ls a person in bed that their breakfast is this good? You think this one is good? It's good reading. Definitely good reading. High five, p eleven. Tell me why you think that one's good. Do you think it's better than the last one? Yeah, but it doesn't tell who you mented. No, it doesn't introduce the idea of it, does it? So I get what you mean. It tells us how to use it, but where would that be better, Evan? It tells you if you don't know, could you say it can tell you? Could this part be better in the explanation maybe with number of points perhaps? Yeah, because it's got a lot of verbs, it tells us a lot of how it works. So maybe that would be better in the main explanation. Okay, let's look at another one. I'm gonna to read this one to you. The perfect breakfast machine was designed by a chap called singer cook. It makes brecky in bed, which is great, because who wants to get up and make their own breakfast on a cold, wintry morning? Not me. All you have to do is Press on a wireless remote control and it starts. How cool is that? Then just chill out in your warm, comfy bed and tibreakfast is ready for your munching. Yum. I don't think I usually speak like that. You thought it's squite good. Not good. What do you think, Carlos? I just like saying something, stuff to make. Goodbye. It's it's very informal. We've got chap frecky wintry all you have to do. How cool is that? Comfy bed, tada. Munching. Yum. It's a bit too informal. If we were reading that, I'd be a little bit worried, okay, because we want it to be read by anybody, not just your friends. Okay, and then we've got the last one here. The perfect breakfast machine was designed in order to assist those who do not wish to get up and make their own breakfast. Whilsome have called this lazy. The nhs has endorsed the project as a lifesaver for those too ill or too frail to make their own breakfast. It ensures all patients receive a healthy hot meal even though they may physically be unable to make it themselves. The designer sinit cook made the device even easier to use by making the machine remote controlled. The user simply presses a button from the comfort of their own bed, and the signal wirelessly starts the machine's operation. What do we think about that one? But Yeah, I think that one's good too. Okay, so I realithat the lesson. Yeah, I realize the lesson is over, so I'm not going to take too too much of your time. These are in your booklet. Have a look at them and think about which one you like best and how you're going to introduce your machine. You need to say what it is, why you've got it, and briefly how it works. Remember, you're not going to put every detail in this because you're just introducing it. You're just telling me what is, how it starts, okay? And perhaps why you have it. Okay? You do have a checklist that goes through this so that you can check that you've got a good introduction there. But I want you to remember these things. A good introduction is written in the third person, okay? So he, she, it's written in a formal style. You're not talking to a friend. It includes details about the process being explained and it's factual. Remember, we're not trying to advertise it or persuade anybody. We're just simply saying what it does. Okay? You've got a checklist that you can use to help you with that in your planning. But remember, it's just the planning stage. You're not writing anything up at the minute. You're just planning it in your summary. All you're doing is summarizing what what you've talked about, what it does. So an example of this, Carlos, is could you read it to me? The remarkable machine is the first of its kind after being used to make a meal for tiit will be transsported to the museum of technology and lamontown, where it will delight thousands of visitors for, yes, perfect reading for years to come. So a summary, just saying. This is a really cool machine. It's going be one of a kind after it's been used in space, it's going to be put in a museum. You might want to say after it's you've been used in space, it will self destruct, okay? After it's used in space, we will let it fly through space to see if aliens can use it on their planets. Okay, you can be as creative as you want to with your summary, but it's just a short sentence to tell me what's going to happen next and to sum up what what you've been explaining about your pizza machine or your lasagna machine. So boys, your homework is just to finish that plan for me, add some color to it, add some more words to it, add an introduction and add a summary for me. And if you could take a picture of that and send it to me, that would be brilliant. You can post it in the chat if you like, and I'll mark it for you. I'll also put the homework online for you as well if I can. Does anybody have any questions? No. Well, it's been a pleasure to meet you both. I will see you tomorrow. Bye, Evan. By Carlos.
