These are not sentences, okay? But these ones are. So let's have a look at the an example of a sentence type. So one of them for the first type of sentence type is statements. Okay, so a statement can give us information. For example, the cat slept on the sofa. So what this sentence tells us is that the cat is currently sleeping. So that is the activity. And on the sofa. So it tells us that it's the telling us the location as well as the subject. Okay, so can we write down just the first sentence slide? So if we write type one and then statement and then write what the statement means, the statement means it. A statement gives information. Okay? It's almost like writing, Oh, saying a fact. So if the again, sentence function means the function is the job the sentence is doing, okay. Whereas previously when we were looking at sentence types, they were different expressions. They were either a command, a statement, question or exclamation, whereas function is the job the sentence is being used to do. Okay, so if you could just write the first sentence down, Brian, the function also just write sentence function and then the function is the job the sentence is doing. This makes more sense when we we'll look at example so we can compare sentence type and sentence function. Written it down. Okay, let's move on. So and let's have a look at some examples of what sentence functions are. So the sentence is can you PaaS the Salthe type is a question that the function of the sentence is a polite request. You be rude to your teacher. Excellent. And we end that one with an exclamation mark to show it's an exclamation. Excellent. Good sentences. How dare you be rude to your teacher yet? Well done. Okay, how can we change the sentence to change the function of a sentence? So this is at the moment, this is a command, right? How can we change this command sentence to another sentence type? I do know you don't know. Okay, how about we change it into a question, for example? Okay. So let's say, can you try to not can you try to not anger your parents? Okay.
