Hi, Aiden, say hi. How are you? I'm good. Good. Oh, it didn't attach the picture, but I think you got it anyway. I see lots of people playing in the snow that they. They are sliding down the hill. They also built, they also building H Slayman and baying snowball. Okay, good. Okay, right. We're going to move on to and it hasn't I'm going to move on to some punctuation work today. I need to just get it up first, though. Let me just get up. Okay. We'll just do a few starters beginning because we're going to be moving on to some punctuation. So I want to see what we know. Ready? So this. So adden, first, you just have ten sentences here, but they don't have any punctuation. So what you need to do is I want you to show me where you would add four stops, capital letters, exclamation Marks and question Marks. Aiden, you need to actually write. You need to this is not correct, Aiden. That's not how we complete this task. They don't all end in full start. Some of them need exclamation Marks, some of you need question Marks, and you need to write the capital letter, not just draw a line. 嗯。Okay, that's better. You're still missing some capital letters. See if you can find them for me. So there's some capital letters within the sentences here. See if you can find them. I think there's a couple more. Okay, so just here, Aiden here look, brass House Lane, that one too. But well done. We've got Yeah because that would be the name of a street. And same here. Like you've got primary school. We would need Bolton valley primary school because that's the name of the school. All of those would be in capitors as well. Yeah but well done for getting all of the rest. That's good. And your question Marks and your exclamation Marks. Good work. Okay. So now a little bit trickier. Teacher, yes, we have break. Yes, we have break. Not usually. But if you need to do it, if you need a drink or the toilet or anything, just ask and then can do that. Yeah, we don't usually have a break. I want go to poop. I can poop in the break. We don't have a break. We don't usually have one, do we? So if you need to, you just need to ask them. You can go. Okay. Okay, so same again, but this time you've got a paragraph rather than individual sentences. Okay. Now you need to at the moment, Aden, this is all one sentence. That would be a very long sentence, wouldn't it? You need to read through it carefully and put some more full stops to make some more sentences. One day. Okay, you still need to keep going. There's still some editing needed here. So this is a question, if an an agent, would it be a kind spell or would it be a wicked spell? So what does that mean at the end? If it's a question? There we go. And what about here? We're missing some punctuation here. Stop. Yeah and then after an exclamation mark. Yeah. And then here, look, you've got a capital letter here, Aden, but you're missing the punctuation before the capital letter. Oh, there we go. Okay, well done. Okay, so we're going to focus on using pas today, Aiden. So there's lots of different ways that we should use commerce. Most of times people forget about how many different ways you should use commerce and they end up just using you know in one way. But there's lots of different ways. So we're going to go through these today. First way of using commas. Can you read this for me? For example, his favorite puddings were apple pie, rethe, carbal and ice cream. Wear a red, blue, purple and White jumper. It requiyour own list to complete the sentence. My favorite activity outside school are. Or tag. Tag junmp. Jump. So Aiden, it says, right, so you're going to have a go. So you can see how they've used these commas to separate these items in a list. You need to have a go at doing that. So you need to use your commas in your writing. It's about writing, isn't it? Not speaking. Can I go drink a water? I'm yes. My favorite activities outside school are jump, run and picnic. Okay, good. You've used your comma correctly. That's good. Maybe we would say jumping, running and going for picnics or something. We're just missing a few words in there, but we've used the comma correctly. That's the main thing. Okay. Sometimes, though, we might need to use a comma before the end if the list that we're writing is quite a complex list. So could you read these examples here for me, adden? My favorite pudings were apple pie were miscmbble and jelly and ice cream. Next one, the use of calbefore, the final ends in the kids that Jenny and ice cream is considered a single item. Okay, we should also another way of using plers is before these conjunctions for and norbook or Yeah so which we've learned about in our lessons, those fan boys conjunctions when we're separating two independent clauses. So could you read these examples for me? Adden, he was a fantastic cook, but she would never be as good as her mother. But he he had it. So he ran the dentist toothache. He had a toothache. Usually. Good. So you can see the conjunction that sorry, the comma being used before those conjunctions. But and so. So there's the example. Okay, you have a go for me. Aden, that's an apostrophe. That's not a comma. She's good at this game, but she is not playing this game. Okay. Yeah, good. That's correct. Well done. Next one, can you read you read what's on the board for me, Aiden? Giving the terrible weather conditions, the queof the ywere likely to complete the race at that rate of song. This. Yeah, Yasmine. Oh, Yasmine crapt silently out of the house. Good. So those are fronted at verbials in the blue part. Aiden, Yeah. They tell us you know when or where or how rest of the sentence is happening. So what I want you to have a go with is you need to put the commas in the right places of these sentences. Quite the unusual weather, although it was still very strong. Okay, this one try again for me. This one try again for me. This one try again for me. Good, that's correct now. No, try that on again. Still. No, that's why you put it before. Read the sentence, Aiden with great speed, Wonder Woman gave chase in her invisible Jack. And you hear where there is a little pause, where the comma should be. No, Aiden, you're not listening to me. Listen to me. Read the sentence with great speed, Wonder Woman gave chase in her invisible jet. Where is the pause? Where's the fronted adverbial? That adds a bit of extra information. So Aiden, front of that verbial can't be all the way over here. This is the end of the sentence. Affronted adverbial is at the front like these ones. With great speed, Wonder Woman gave case in her invisible jet where am I pausing? There you go. See, if you listen carefully, you'll find it. Since he was unable to, okay to listen to that one again. So why don't so adent, why don't you read this sentence to me? Read it out loud. The last one, yes, he was unable to beat flashrog and decided to withdraw from the race. Does it sound right to say, since he was unable to beat flashrobin, decided to withdraw from the race? There is a pause somewhere, aien, there needs to be a little stop. Where do you think that little stop is? So that would be since he was unable to beat flash, Robin decides to withdraw from the race. That still doesn't work. Let me give you a clue. These are two different people. Flash and Robin are two different people, not the same person. There you go. Since he was unable to beat flash, Robin decided to withdraw from the race here. Good. Okay, next one. Then we have this thing called parenthesis adden, and we show the parenthesis with commas. Okay. So can you read what it says for me? You're on this slide. Parences in sentences as information, the Encan be removed without changing in the meaning. For example, mainthe alist boy in the class was often late for school. Cbbc, which is based in Manchester, is a popular children's tv channel in the U K. Good, so can you see, Adam? These blue parts are extra information, and I could remove them, and the rest of the sentence would still make sense. So if I scribble them out, can you read the sentences again without the blue part and see, does it make sense? Millin was often late for school. That makes sense, doesn't it? Yeah so even without that bit, it still makes sense. That's what we need to make sure. So here it says here you need to match up the sentences with the extra information, the parenthesis on the right. Okay. This one's quite tricky because we need to know about Star Wars to know where to put them. So don't worry too much about this. This is not so much about parenthesis and more about Star Wars, but good effort. Why don't you have a go writing a sentence like this? Okay, you have a go. If. Okay. But remember, adent, you need to be able to remove this middle part and it still makes sense. So if I was to get rid of that, it would be Mike, but he can't play, which doesn't make sense on its own, does it? You need to have another go look at this example as well. Like it would need to be something like. It also. But though could be something like that Jack, who loves to play video games, doesn't like watching football. If I was to remove this, it would be Jack doesn't like watching football. So that still makes sense on its own, doesn't it? So can you have another go for me? You need to try again. Ren, who don't like picnic, who like football. Aiden, that's still very different to my sentence, isn't it? It still doesn't make sense. Aiden, look how different it is to mine. You're starting both with who does that sound right to you? Ren, who don't like picnic, who liked football. If I was to get rid of this part, it would be ren who liked football. That still doesn't make sense on its own. Aiden, you need to be able to remove the part in the commas so that the rest of it is a sentence that makes sense on its own. So start with a sentence on its own, like Jack doesn't like watching football, and then you can think about what extra information to add in as your parenthesis. Generation. Okay, but ada, now you're just copying my sentence. It needs to be your own sentence, please. Okay, like at least change the name and what the thing is that they love Yeah. So Aiden, Aiden, try and make this part completely different to what you've just said before. Don't make it about drawing. Make it about something completely different. It doesn't you don't want it to be the same as this. It needs to be separate. So it doesn't like something completely different to drawing. Okay, and what is this word ludrawing boom. Like and t or something right say loves drawing, you mean bombs. Yeah okay, bomb is felt like this. Bombs and it would be dozens like picnics. Doesn't like picnics with an s on the end? And doesn't it felt like this? Good, that's better. So what the parenthesis is doing there, Aiden, is it's just adding extra information. But extra information that isn't important to the main part of the sentence, we can remove it. And the rest will still make sense too. We must remember that. But it's really important. Okay, we've still got quite a few colors to go over, so you might have to finish this next lesson because we've only got three minutes left. So for your homework, I think I'll give you another couple of tasks like what we did at the start of the lesson. So let me just get those up. So this is your homework. I'm just starting to get it. No. 没。Copy. Okay. Okay, right, well done Aiden. I've set your homework so you've just got some punctuation to add in onto a bit of writing for homework. Yeah, well done Aiden. You worked really hard today. We'll continue with comments as next week. Thank you. Bye bye.
